(We crack ourselves up.)Photo: Erin Ryan Most conspiracy theorists stay deep underground, but that’s where Kae Pohe is convinced the alien wreckage is being stored (under Hoover Dam, to be exact). He’s the mastermind behind Boulder City’s Flying Saucer (fondly nicknamed Area 52), which is devoted to exposing the truth and carrying some of the wackiest merchandise in the Valley—and that’s saying something. The Details Flying Saucer Grand Opening
5-9 p.m. September 24 441 Nevada Way, Boulder City, 293-1823After the soft opening earlier this summer, the shop attracted tourists with an enormous talking alien named Eak and products ranging from scholarly books on UFOs to RC flying saucers and space-themed beer. From 5-9 p.m. Saturday, September 24, the shop is celebrating its grand opening with a mix of otherworldly entertainment. The event will be overseen by emcee Justin Keough, also known as Boulder City’s Elvis. Special guests include Tony Dow, a comic impressionist responsible for the many voices of Eak, and Radiozone1.com hosts John D and Valerie G, who will be recording live. And Electro rockers Pride and the Vanities will provide pop glam performances worthy of Jabba the Hutt’s lounge. In addition to free food and alien costume contests (with prizes) for kids and adults, there will be a “ThrillJump” involving a high platform and a massive inflatable landing pad. “It’s like landing on a pillow,” says Pohe, adding that this is the first time the attraction has appeared anywhere in the U.S. With some luck, it will draw the aliens out of their hiding spot so we can find out if they bounce. Schedule of special events • 5-6:15 p.m.—Crazy alien costume contest for kids • 6:30-7 p.m.—Pride and the Vanities • 7-8 p.m.—Crazy alien costume contest for adults • 8:15-8:45 p.m.—Pride and the Vanities FOR MORE INFO: www.lasvegasweekly.com/news/2011/sep/21/aliens-rockers-and-extreme-sports-flying-saucerare/

From a history point of view, being a huge aviation buff, this is about as good as it gets describing the pilots point of view in the B.O.B. Very honest. The role of the ground crew in this film is finally depicted properly. A important essential contribution assisting the pilot on the ground. See some of the scenes, not as judging instructors, but assistants to the mission. Based on author Squadron Leader Geoffrey Wellum DFC memoirs, Wellum was the youngest fighter pilot in the B.O.B. Enjoy,

Steve . I watched most of it but it is very late.. I will come back to it tomorrow. It is very odd how you posted this just now.. at this time. I found a military dog tag with my metal detector a few day ago. I been searching the net for the owner. I found a bomber pilot with the same exact name .. even middle initial matched. He flew a B17 and his squadron was 309 I believe.. He went down in the Baltic sea near Galena May of 1944. Then to a pow camp. It says nothing if he survived the camp. I give sky his serial number. The tag was at the bottom of our park lake. I have to find out if he lived or was killed in the camp now that I read about him.. There is only a few with his name on Google white pages. He would be a very old man by now. My bother is 85 and he was one of the youngest men in world war two.
I will be back to watch this. thanks for posting..

Lois, I'm thinking maybe he died in the camp and his family put his dog tags in the bottom of the lake... maybe he liked to go fishing there while he was alive...

Lorelei ..It does not say where this pilot lived.. one here in Illinois but he is only 80.. too young.. but he still could be the owner of the tag. I plan on writing him, I got his address.
I love these kind of movies Steve posted, They don't seem to make them anymore. I still watch all the old movies of Clark Gable and others . I have them all on tape. 12:00 0' clock high . 20 minutes over Tokyo.. I watched the above video until he went into battle..
Now I will finish it Steve..

I don't know if he lived there in Illinois or not but he was definitely somewhere in that area. That's what the first two numbers on the tags mean. I'm still trying to find out more about him. Will let you know when I do.

Steve , that was a very interesting movie. Is it an older movie or recent? I enjoyed it..
Sky, I thought the RA was his rank or company.. are you referring to the 16, the first two digits? The pilot who went down into the Baltic sea, was RAL, see if you can find out what those letters mean. I assumed they were Rank also, but his first two digits are RA also a RA.. If it is him and he died he may not have descendants.
Steve is the one we should ask , he claimed above that he was a aviation buff. I never knew that..
I just went to spell check, it recognizes RA, but not RAL.. strange. There is RAF also.. Im sure that Robert from the war was a RAL before his name..but the tags it is before his serial number so it may not have the same meaning..
Sky I got some sad news. I wanted so much to find out about this pilot after reading about him in the war. On another website, it tells " He was later seen at one came which matched the other site. Then it stated he was seen at the second pow camp.. Now that sounds like here say. If he ever made it through the war and came home, they would certainly know what prison camp he was in.. I fear the Nazi's killed him. And so close to the end of the war like you said..
My husband is not making any leadway either. When all is said and none, I may never know how those tags got into the lake. If rowing a boat out on the lake, and he had leaned over the side, there is no way his tags would of fell off. The chain would of had to break to fall .. The chain is still locked secure. How would it come over his head from his neck if just leaning forward.. ?? He could of taken it off to show someone else in the boat.. 40s 50s and 60s Row boats was all they had there to go out on. It is a very small area of water no motor boats .. They changed to paddle boats in the 70s .. The chain was only four feet from the edge of the row boat dock.. It went out in the 50s. Dock or rowing he still would not of lost it by leaning forward. I have to stop now. I got everyone I know making suggestions.
I just gave away my secret spot. lol
Let me know what you are referring to .. please The RA or the 16,

My husband told me if he lost them while still in service, he would of had to have them re. iissued. I know my husband had two tags hanging on the same chain. If so maybe one fell off and it is in the lake still.

The RA stands for Regular Army. The 16 tells where the guy enlisted. (Actually it is the number 6 that tells where he enlisted because all of the RA tags started with the number 1.) Here is a website that I found that gives an explanation of what the numbers mean. 33rdscb.tripod.com/id49.htmFor the Regular Army - Enlisted men to whom an Army serial number has never been assigned: Army serial numbers from the blocks shown below will be assigned to men enlisted in the Regular Army on or after July 1, 1940. The second digit indicates the corps area of enlistment. 1st Corps Area - 11,000,000 to 11,999,999 2nd Corps Area - 12,000,000 to 12,999,999 3rd Corps Area - 13,000,000 to 13,999,999 4th Corps Area - 14,000,000 to 14,999,999 5th Corps Area - 15,000,000 to 15,999,999 6th Corps Area - 16,000,000 to 16,999,999 7th Corps Area - 17,000,000 to 17,999,999 8th Corps Area - 18,000,000 to 18,999,999 9th Corps Area - 19,000,000 to 19,999,999 Hawaiian Department - 10,100,000 to 10,199,999 Panama Canal Department - 10,200,000 to 10,299,999 Philippine Department - 10,300,000 to 10,399,999 Puerto Rican Department - 10,400,000 to 10,499,999 Corps Areas 1st Corps Area – ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI 2nd Corps Area – NY, NJ, DE 3rd Corps Area – PA, MD, VA, DC 4th Corps Area – NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, MS, TN 5th Corps Area – OH, IN, KY, WV 6th Corps Area – IL, MI, WI 7th Corps Area – MO, KS, NB, CO, IA, MN, ND, SD, WY 8th Corps Area – AR, LA, TX, OK, NM 9th Corps Area - WA, OR, CA, ID, MT, NV, UT, AK Here is another good site that explains the numbers. users.skynet.be/jeeper/page83.htmlThey no longer use ID numbers anymore. Now they just use people's social security numbers. I think they started doing that around 1969 or 70. Not sure on the year.

John M McGath, donated the photo in 2003. He states they finished out the war in camps. Nothing about any death.. This mean Robert could possibly could be alive some where and living close to me.
I call on the phone to the only Robert L Fosdick in my state. He gave me his serial number. It was 445 something, not a match, but got me thinking about that 6 number being my area, how was his a 445? Also he was a bomber pilot in the Korea War. How about that? Bomber pilot with a RA only serial number which means the RA could be airforce. WOW WOW WOW.. is all I can say.
The four brothers which names were not Robert but Marshall . Frank.. Harry and the youngest I forgot.. I called Marshall. He says no need to call the rest as they are all my brothers..
But the oldest may know if we had a uncle.. Etc. by the name Robert .. he is the family historian and loves History and finding old things. You call him Monday as he will be back from his trip. He is 75 years old.. but still very active. You will have him searching for you believe me. I know my brother, when I told him I found the tags four feet from a Morgan Dollar, he said. Oh thats mine.. lol very friendly guy..
Down state there are two more, which could be sons of the original Robert. I cannot locate a phone number for them.. There is a Robert today in California and one in Florida.. but they are not L for middle L for middle name. The L stands for Lee..

Wow, great find Lois ! Its quite a coincidence also that Steve had just posted that, its almost like it was meant to be. I hope you all find him, good luck . Im searching for someone too. My daughter and I just finished cleaning out 2 old sheds that had a WW1 cantene-1918, a Pic of an intelligence officer , and later he became a judge in a local county. I even have his sealed documents of becoming a judge. It wont be too hard finding his family I dont think, and if not Ill end up giving it to the geneological society of that county or maybe a museum. We also found an old chest with old pics of different people in his family I presume, Im hoping to find the family(grandchildren?) first before anything. Again,,,great find !

It was so strange. I had been looking all day on the net for Robert L Fosdick.. and it was late but told myself . I will go to the forum before going to bed to see what Steve had Posted. He has always came on late my time since mufon forum.. and here was that movie about bomber pilots.. I could not resist telling what I had found in the lake.. Hope you find those people also.. You often wonder how people just leave certain things behind. Like when I worked in the Antique shop in Cape, my boss aways brought in Estate sale items. There was always beautiful bubbled from photos of families from the far past. He would say the relatives took what they wanted first, I guess it had no value in dollars for them . I could not believe it.. Good luck to you also.

Some terms. Sure JoKelly knows these and probably far more. RAF = Royal Air Force. P.O. preceding their names on the chalk board squadron roster is for Pilot Officer. The majority of the Royal Air Force pilots were officers, but this air force had 'Sergeant Pilots' too, but this was unusual, pilots in other air forces were all officers. B.O.B. was my abbreviation for the Battle of Britain. DFC is for Distinguished Flying Cross. DSO (not mentioned in the story) is for Distinguished Service Order. 'Angels' is radio talk for altitude. Angels Eleven is 11,000 feet.
The scrambles are so exciting. In the BOB, the British had a revolutionary weapon, called RDF, the first use of what we know as RADAR. The Germans had RADAR too, but the United Kingdom had such a brilliant well organized system. It really worked. Radar also allowed the enemy to be seen so early while they were forming up over France. The RAF were always outnumbered. It allowed pilots to rest and takeoff in timely fashion, saving fuel and not waring out pilots on constant patrols.
The RAF had pilots from many countries and parts of the Empire too. Polish, French, Czech, some Yanks, south African, Indian, others. It was an extraordinary time. They almost lost it. The Poles, French, and Czechs where known for machine gunning Germans in their parachutes, Knowing what the Nazis were doing to their own people in their occupied home country. The BOB was a battle of endurance really. Wellum flew like so many of his fellow pilots to the point of physicial and emotional exhaustion. Wellum was reassigned at the end of the film to a combat training squadron. Burned out. He later married his girl, and returned to combat over Malta. After more missions he had a nervous breakdown - he was only 20 years old.... He retired from service in 1961 the film says....
They and others stopped cold the beginning of a frightening new Dark Age. Sometimes I feel I was born 35 years too late.
'First Light' was produced for British television and aired in 2010.

Memorable scenes... The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) - Perhaps just a little demonstration? Barnhart: You mentioned a demonstration of force. Klaatu: Yes. Barnhart: Would such a demonstration be possible before the meeting? Klaatu: Of course. Barnhart: Something that would dramatize the seriousness of the situation. Something that would effect the entire planet? Klaatu: That could easily be arranged. Barnhart: I wouldn't want you to harm anyone or destroy anything. Klaatu: Why don't you leave it to me. I'll think of something. Barnhart: Maybe a 'little' demonstration? Klaatu: Something dramatic, but not destructive. Klaatu: That is quite an interesting problem. Klaatu: Would something....say day after tomorrow be alright? Say about noon?

another amusing email...
At a time when our president and other politicians tend to apologize for our country's prior actions, here's a refresher on how some of our former patriots handled negative comments about our country JFK'S Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60's when DeGaulle decided to pull out of NATO. DeGaulle said he wanted all US Military out of France as soon as possible. Rusk responded, "Does that include those who are buried here?" DeGaulle Did not respond. You Could have heard a pin drop. ___________________________________________________ When in England , At a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of 'empire building' by George Bush. He answered by saying, "Over the years, the United States has sent many of Its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom Beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for In return is enough to bury those that did not Return." You Could have heard a pin drop. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~There was a conference in France Where a number of international engineers Were taking part, including French and American. During a break, One of the French engineers came back into the room saying, "Have you Heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft Carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he Intend to do, bomb them?" A Boeing engineerStood up and replied quietly: "Our carriers have three Hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are Nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to Shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to Feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand Gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a Dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and From their flight deck. We have eleven such ships; How many does France have?" You Could have heard a pin drop. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A U.S. Navy AdmiralWas attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large Group of officers that included personnel from most of those countries. Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many Languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked, "Why is it that We always have to speak English in these conferences rather than Speaking French?" Without hesitating, The American Admiral replied, "Maybe it's because the Brit's, Canadians, Aussie's and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't Have to speak German." You Could have heard a pin drop. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~AND THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ABOVE... Robert Whiting,An elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport In his carry on. "You Have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked Sarcastically. Mr. Whiting Admitted that he had been to France Previously. "Then You should know enough to have your passport ready." The American said, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it." "Impossible.. Americans always have to show their passports on arrival in France !" The American senior Gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he Quietly explained, ''Well, when I came ashore at OmahaBeach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen To show a passport to." You Could have heard a pin drop.
