Let's start a thread about radiation injuries. I Googled UFO radiation injuries and got a whole page - some "scholarly articles".

"In attempting to account for the unquestionably bizarre and un-weather-like eyewitness reports across the board, Condign produced a section called “Potential Mental Effects on Humans” suggesting how UAP electrical fields might scramble the brain’s temporal lobe, manifesting into hallucinations or episodes of “missing time.” For Burroughs, the key passage is this: “The well-reported Rendlesham Forest/Bentwaters event is an example where it might be postulated that several observers were probably exposed to UAP radiation for longer than normal UAP sighting periods. There may be other cases which remain unreported. It is clear that the recipients of these effects are not aware that their behaviour/perception of what they are observing is being modified.” Read more: theedgeofreality.proboards.com/user/5/recent#ixzz3UJzahWf6]I feel like posting this at least 5 more times

Do you think this is a cover-up or does this explain sightings (in your opinion?)
I'm skeptical...

Something had to cause the radiation. I think the explanation about it causing hallucinations is just another lame attempt to discredit UFOs by somebody who does not believe they exist.
I don't really think this is a cover-up since they have been trying to cover it up for decades. Just a continuation of the same old stuff. It is possible that their admitting that the residual health effects were caused by the incident may be an attempt to get people to lose interest in what really happened...especially if they are able to convince people that it was some form of a naturally occurring UAP rather than an extraterrestrial form of a UFO. It's not going to happen though. Rendlesham has already attained legendary status among the UFO community. It's like Roswell...no amount of explanations are ever going to make them go away.

ufodigest.com/article/bombshell-0401 RENDLESHAM FOREST BOMBSHELLBy Nick Pope April 1, 2015 A bombshell revelation about the Rendlesham Forest incident has just been made. This latest news has profound implications not just for our understanding of what happened in Rendlesham Forest, but for ufology as a whole. Those people following recent developments in the case will recall that a key issue is John Burroughs and Jim Penniston’s struggle to obtain their military medical records from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This was due to concerns that various health problems they have were associated with their encounter in Rendlesham Forest. Intriguingly, these medical records were lodged in the VA’s classified records section. Senator Jon Kyl was involved in the case, as was Senator John McCain, who now chairs the Senate Committee on Armed Services. Six former Congressional representatives even wrote to the President of the United States about the issue. Clearly, discussions about the Rendlesham Forest incident, and the effect it had on key witnesses John Burroughs and Jim Penniston, went right to the very top. Ironically, it was the British Government that (perhaps inadvertently) provided the smoking gun. In 2006 the Ministry of Defence declassified parts of an intelligence study on UFOs, codenamed Project Condign, and classified Secret UK Eyes Only. I had been involved in the work that led to the setting up of this study, but wasn’t the final report’s anonymous author, as has been claimed. Parts of this document are still highly classified and extremely sensitive, and are being withheld to this day, along with many of the report’s working papers, many of which were deliberately placed outside the scope of the Freedom of Information Act, by using a defence contractor to undertake the work. However, one statement in the final report, perhaps missed by the censor’s pen, read as follows: “The well-reported Rendlesham Forest/Bentwaters event is an example where it might be postulated that several observers were probably exposed to UAP [Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon] radiation for longer than normal UAP sighting periods.” After years of official denial and obfuscation, John Burroughs and Jim Penniston had been entirely vindicated. The MoD was effectively saying “yes, this was real, and yes, you were irradiated”. Armed with this, John Burroughs, John and Jim’s crusading attorney Pat Frascogna, and Senator McCain, had enough of a smoking gun to reengage with the VA. And here’s the bombshell development: the VA just settled with John Burroughs. In full. Let there be no doubt here. Settlement of this claim should be seen for what it is: a tacit US Government acknowledgment that what happened was real, and harmful. Add that to the Project Condign quote, and one can see that both the British and American Governments have now, effectively, confirmed the reality of the Rendlesham Forest incident. It’s not Disclosure in the sense that the UFO community envisage (with the US President addressing the nation: “My fellow Americans, people of the world, we are not alone”), but it’s the best you’ll get. It’s Confirmation. Speaking about this development, John Burroughs commented as follows: CONTINUE READING: ufodigest.com/article/bombshell-0401

Col. Charles Halt has collected sworn statements from air traffic controllers, on duty in 1980 at Bentwaters. They tell him that they witnessed a UFO on radar performing incredible aerial maneuvers. And they were afraid of talking about this until they retired. On Dec. 27, 1980, unusual lights were seen by military personnel in the Rendlesham Forest, located between dual bases RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge. Several witnesses say they saw fast-moving objects in the sky, in addition to a reported landing of a triangular craft in a clearing. When the encounters continued into a second night, Halt, deputy base commander at Bentwaters, leading a group into the forest, experienced part of the unexplained light show for himself, including an unknown object moving through trees and appearing to drip a molten substance (as depicted in the illustration at the top of this story). In addition to a tape recording Halt made as the UFO sightings unfolded, he also filed the following report in which he describes a laser-like beam of light streaming from one UFO down to the ground where he and his men were standing: CONTINUE READING: www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/retired-air-force-col-charles-halt-claims-new-evidence-will-blow-the-lid-off-rendlesham-forest-ufo-sighting_55a6c05ae4b04740a3dede3e?utm_hp_ref=weird-news

New witness surfaces!'It was not from this world': Witness to 'Britain's Roswell' UFO incident breaks 36-year silencePublished December 07, 2016
A new witness has broken his 36 -year silence to speak out about Britain’s most famous UFO incident.
Steve Longero was told to keep quiet by his superiors following the infamous Rendlesham Forest incident in Suffolk.
But now the retired U.S. Air Force police officer has gone on the record for the first time and said: “I think it was something not from this world.”
The incident – dubbed the British Roswell – took place over three nights between 26 and 28 December, in 1980.
Military personnel from nearby RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge, including the deputy base commander, witnessed strange lights in the forest and hovering above the twin NATO airbases which were on high alert as the Cold War was at its peak.
Steve, who served as a police sergeant in the USAF, was guarding the weapons storage area when the alarms started going off.
He said: “While on duty that night, we had a very sophisticated alarm system and everything just went off.
“And then I could see these lights over the treetops, and I was thinking, what’s going on? Then they started sending people out there and at first it was hard to believe, all these bright lights. It was hard to take in.
"Well from what I remember the lights, fluorescent lights, kind of a glow, like a reddish glow. I remember going out there.”
Steve went out into the forest where he remembers seeing a large group of other military personnel had already gathered including Staff Sgt Jim Burroughs, Airman First Class Edward Cabansag and Airman First Class Larry Warren.
Describing the UFOs, he said: “They looked like fluorescent coloured lights, like red and green, glowing lights and that’s what they looked like.I could see them hovering over the treetops like an eye that was almost following everybody.”
He added: “It was real kind of quiet and this thing hovering over the trees, and you were like kind of tracking it and like ‘what is this?’. And it was like following, it was like watching us, that’s what it looked like to us. It seemed like something watching us.
“From what I remember it was like aglow, it was really glowing like a reddish, greenish light. It was really glowing, like something was really hot and it was just glowing.”
He also recalled seeing Colonel Charles Halt there, who made a tape recording describing how beams of light were being shone down by the UFO. He has written an explosive new book called The Halt Perspective describing his close encounter.
Mr Longero said: “Col Halt came afterwards, after all that was called in. I remember him turning up, that’s when they kind of gathered everyone around and said this is what we are going to do, and everybody kind of dispersed and did what they were told to do.
"I remember we had a little briefing right there and everybody was just like, we just could not believe what we were seeing. Your adrenalin was flowing and I remember people saying like ‘what is that?’.”
Rubbishing theories that the lights in the woods were caused by a lighthouse on the east coast, he laughed: “I don’t think so. Not unless the lighthouse could move. Unless they could float that thing in the air.
“And then, as people were getting close to this thing it kind of came nearer to us and then it would go forward and then go back and all of a sudden it just disappeared, like something out of Star Trek, it was like warp speed and we were all ‘what was that?’ it was gone and then that’s when they started doing all their investigations. After we secured the area they said okay, you’re gone, get out of here.”
Steve said he was debriefed a few days later and was told not to talk about what he saw as the base had nuclear weapons on site.
UFO investigator Philip Mantle, who interviewed Steve for Outer Limits Magazine, said: “Steve does not claim to be anything special but he wanted to emphasise that there were a lot of others involved who were witness to the events in question, many of whom have yet to add their voice to these events.
“Steve has confirmed the open secret that nuclear weapons were stored at RAF Bentwaters at the time although he did not personally witness any lights being shone onto the WSA.
“He has confirmed much of what Colonel Halt has already said on the record and he is in no doubt that Larry Warren was there.
“What is clear is that despite the best efforts of some this case will continue to be hotly debated for many years to come.”

John F Burroughs: "As you can see by the post below, it appears that the MOD may finally be ready to release the 18 files I uncovered. What you will also see is Nick Pope taking the lead on all of this even though he once stated that all files had been released. Does that surprise me? No! I would expect nothing less from Nick Pope, a man who has sat on the fence on my UFO issues over the years. What stands out so far and disappoints me is the fact Nick, who I co-authored a book with, has failed to mention the fact in the latest article and Ancient Aliens show, that I was involved. In fact, you would think he would be pointing these people and others in my direction since I hold the FOIA and questions that led to the announcement by the MOD. You can only help but wonder why Nick Pope is handling all of this in this manner. What does it all mean? What does Nick really know about all of this? He clearly had no idea the MOD was holding back 18 files... Or did he?? "inquiring minds need to know!"
Me: "Don't give up, John!"
John F Burroughs: "I won't Paul Young, the problem is something smells in Denmark. Our book was delayed because the publisher felt there was not enough of Penniston and I in it. Then Pope refused to put anymore about the codes in it other than what was covered, with Penniston not even sticking up for that to take place. Nick Pope and I also went round and round about Condign, with me wanting more about it in the book. Nick's response was more about 'Condign will come out in due time'. Nick has now said the book is being circulated inside the MOD. I find that interesting because I was just told our book is also making the rounds inside the DOD...
Nick also has stated both the MOD and DOD had to clear our book before it could be released which was news to us, I was never allowed to see any such exchanges..."

Interesting Facebook chat with John Burroughs today. He posted a copy of Billy Cox's blog entry from 2015, concerning the VA. It is shown below.
I asked John, "Has anything changed? Is the pending British release of files going to help?" Here is his response:
John F Burroughs
"Well since I don't currently hold a clearance I'm not sure what will be in the documents the MOD releases. What I can tell you is, I hope to be able to release the documents from the VA that Cox talked about, late summer or early fall along with the FOIA I did having to do with the files the MOD claims they're going to release in June."
Did VA just confirm UFO dangers? Posted on February 27, 2015 by Billy Cox
Given the self-inflicted wounds created by the Department of Veterans Affairs, bureauland must feel like a bunker these days, in Washington as well as its regional offices across the U.S. A waiting-list death scandal, more than 900 personnel firings, the resignation of director Eric Shinseki, whistleblower retaliation — on and on it goes, drama without end.
USAF veteran John Burroughs, right, recently received full service-connected medical disability benefits due to what he insists was exposure to UFO radiation/CREDIT: www.schwerkreport.com
Well, depending on if/how the MSM responds, VA officials might want to tug those chin straps a little tighter. That’s because, last Sunday, Mississippi attorney Pat Frascogna issued a press release titled “U.S. Government’s De Facto Acknowledgement of the Existence of UFOs.” (More details at Earthfiles.com) At its core was the resolution of a complicated — yeah, they’re all complicated — service-connected disability dispute involving Air Force veteran and Arizona resident John Burroughs. Burroughs was a key witness to the so-called Bentwaters/Rendlesham Forest UFO incident of 1980. In 2013, at the Citizen Hearing on Disclosure at the National Press Club, Burroughs and retired USAF colleague Jim Penniston recounted their inability to acquire their military medical records from more than 30 years ago.
During efforts to link his heart damage to UFO radiation exposure while responding to a reported security breach on the perimeter of the British-based American air base, Burroughs encountered a roadblock on the paper trail. Although he joined the USAF in 1979, the VA said the earliest service records it could locate dated only as far back as 1982. Burroughs went through two Arizona Senators’ offices — Jon Kyle and John McCain — before the political wheels were able to recover his initial discharge papers, which placed him exactly where he said he was in December 1980. But his medical records are still out there, somewhere.
Nevertheless, bottom line, last month, the VA informed Burroughs it was awarding him a full disability for his heart condition, which required life-saving surgery in 2013. The agency based its decision on 21 bulleted items. Among them was “Service Treatment Records, from February 1979 to April 1988,” the earliest of which Burroughs — again — has never been able to examine for himself. But this listed factor is the real eye-popper: “Duplicate documents regarding the Rendlesham Forest Incident, received May 2, 2014.”
“Now, after decades of persistence,” Frascogna announced in his press release, “the U.S. Government has finally acknowledged that John Burroughs suffered adverse health effects in the Rendlesham Forest and, therefore, has recognized the link between his health problems and the UFO he encountered.”
De Void’s attempt to get a VA response has yet to bear fruit, as they say. But the “duplicate documents” referenced in the Veterans Affairs verdict is a formerly classified British Defence Intelligence Staff assessment of UFOs from 1997-2000. The Brits referred to those cases by the less incendiary acronym UAP (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena). Known as Project Condign and released to the media in 2006, the study argued UFOs/UAP weren’t intelligently controlled vehicles but were, instead, the product of mysterious meteorological forces like plasmas that science can’t explain.
In attempting to account for the unquestionably bizarre and un-weather-like eyewitness reports across the board, Condign produced a section called “Potential Mental Effects on Humans” suggesting how UAP electrical fields might scramble the brain’s temporal lobe, manifesting into hallucinations or episodes of “missing time.” For Burroughs, the key passage is this:
“The well-reported Rendlesham Forest/Bentwaters event is an example where it might be postulated that several observers were probably exposed to UAP radiation for longer than normal UAP sighting periods. There may be other cases which remain unreported. It is clear that the recipients of these effects are not aware that their behaviour/perception of what they are observing is being modified.”
Weather capable of emitting enough acute radiation to cause heart damage. Go figure. Anyhow, how big a deal is this? A statement from the VA’s public affairs desk in Washington says privacy laws prohibit the agency from discussing individual cases. It adds, “(The) VA granting service connection should in no way infer anything beyond the establishment/existence of these requirements/factors.” And by “requirements/factors,” it means “medical evidence providing a connection between the current disability and the service.”
So here we are.
Burroughs is still trying to get his hands on those classified medical records. If the media follows precedent on its coverage of The Great Taboo, this shouldn’t become an issue for the VA. And that ought to be a relief, because those guys have more than enough fires to put out already.

Interesting repartee between John Burroughs and Nick Pope on Facebook this afternoon.....
John F Burroughs 59 mins • Update Nick Pope just posted this below even know everybody is being civil to him Nick has decided to back out on his promise of answering question presented to him on this page. He loves to brag about his training that he got from the MOD but can't seem to handle the questions that have been presented to him in a very civil matter . I felt the need to give him a chance to answers these but since he is now skipping out refusing to answer them like he promised he would do when he joined in yesterday of his own free will I will be forced to show some of the emails that have taken place between us. Some of those exchanges will have to do with his involvement with the questions being presented to parliament by Lord Black. I will also show the exchange Nick Pope and I had about a weapon being created off of the Phenomenon. Maybe just maybe Nick was not as deeply involved with what took place inside the MOD as he wants you to believe!.
John Ervin: At least everyone is being civil about this....
• Reply • 56 mins Nick Pope: Yes indeed. That said, we already seem to have at least three threads where I'm being asked questions, and numerous sub-threads, so it's getting somewhat disjointed and hard to follow. Accordingly, I may decide to do an "Ask Me Anything" on Reddit, as ...See More
Mark Townend: • Friends with Paul Sinclair: Fair play to you Nick. Weather people agree or disagree with what you say, you can't be anymore open than that
John F Burroughs: Once again Nick Pope your trying to duck the questions that have been asked. I have cleaned up the thread and you should have no problems answering the question. I guess Nick just wants to slink back to a more favorable surrounding one that won't challenge him to answer the questions that have been presented to him.
John F Burroughs Question number one he didn't respond to. Were you involved with the question that was asked on the floor of the house of Lords by Lord Black having to do with the M9/18 defense policy issue file?
• Reply • 32 mins John F Burroughs Question 2 he failed to explain Other than a brief mention in a Forum right after it came out in 2006 nobody not even Nick Pope discussed this. I could understand why the debunker's left it alone but why did Nick? He was all about Rendlesham and the documents that had been released but never mentioned this until our book was released in 2014. For those who might not be aware this was in Project Condign. In fact if you go on line you will see Nick Pope went into great detail about Project Condign but never mentioned this.
“The well-reported Rendlesham Forest/Bentwaters event is an example where it might be postulated that several observers were probably exposed to UAP radiation for longer than normal UAP sighting periods" . • Reply • 30 mins Nick Pope I'm happy to continue answering questions, and was simply pointing out that I'll be doing a Reddit AMA at some point in the future, as a less confusing way of having a meaningful Q&A than dealing with multiple threads and sub-threads on somebody else's Facebook page. Self-evidently, however, polite questions are more likely to get an answer than impolite ones, and answers followed by snarky digs will result in the instant termination of this entire Q&A.
• Reply • 28 mins John F Burroughs Great there all sitting below waiting for you to answer them.
• Reply • 21 mins John F Burroughs Question 3 was about providing evidence to support the fact you stated both the DOD and MOD had to clear our book before it could be published..
• Reply • 26 mins Nick Pope I believe it's standard practice not to pass such correspondence to third parties or release it to the public. Accordingly, while you could make a FOIA request to the MoD and to the DoD's Office of Security Review for this, I doubt any paperwork can be released. Rest assured, however, it's not very exciting. I know exactly where the line is, and didn't cross it. I checked very carefully (as I'm sure you and Jim did too, right?) to ensure we hadn't inadvertently put any classified information into the book, and accordingly received a straightforward "approved for public release".
• Reply • 2 mins Nick Pope The answer to question one, above, is "yes".
• Reply • 23 mins John F Burroughs Care to explain what your part was in all of that and why.
• Reply • 22 mins Nick Pope As I recall matters, I offered some advice and a draft for Lord Black's consideration. Here's the actual question and answer in Hansard (the official record of UK parliamentary proceedings). MO9/18 is a reference used for ministers' private offices. The contents are usually documents relating to the answering of PQs (Parliamentary Questions) and Parliamentary Enquiries (PEs).
• Reply • 8 mins Nick Pope Here's the link:
www.parliament.uk/.../writ.../Lords/2015-06-24/HL796/
Reply • 1 min John F Burroughs Question why didn't you just brief Lord Black on what the M09/18 documents were all about?
