Stamps, Coins and Paranormal CollectablesEver since I was a little dude I have always enjoyed collecting things. Stamps, coins, baseball cards, rocks, fossils...and just about anything else imaginable. It seems like nothing is safe from my greedy little hands. If it isn't nailed to the ground it usually winds up in my evergrowing collections. Since I am also interested in UFOs and other paranormal phenomenon I always keep my eyes open for anything paranormal related. In this thread I thought I would share some of the interesting things I have acquired over the years. If anybody else has anything interesting feel free to post it here. Alien Sightings StampsThe first thing I want to show you is a set of postage stamps that was produced in Nicaragua in 1994. The stamps were sold as souvenir sheets that had a small postage stamp surrounded by a border that had an illustration of a type of alien and a written description of the sighting. There are eight of them in the set. These are actual reported sightings they are talking about here although the illustrations look more like comic book characters. I have no idea if the sightings are real or not. August 21, 1955 Hopkinsville, Kentucky At a farmhouse near Hopkinsville a family saw a bright light in the sky descending near them- then some strange creatures coming toward them. They were described as being just over 3 feet tall with huge elephant-like ears. The family was of good reputation. No corroboration of their sighting could be found.------------------------------------------------------------------------- September 22, 1976 Grand Canary Islands A respected medical doctor and his driver spotted what they described as an enormous transparent UFO hovering over the Canary Islands with two figures inside. they were desribed as being human in appearance except for their wing-like appendages at the end of their arms and their large bright eyes. Other witnesses corroborated their testimony of the UFO sighting.----------------------------------------------------------------------- July 28, 1965 Argentina A 17 year old student riding his motorcycle near the city of Paiana when it began to stall and he suddenly noticed a bizarre looking creature by the side of the road. It was very tall, between six and seven feet with a melon shaped head, and long stark white hair. Most intriguing of all it appeared to have three eyes, all staring fixed without moving. There were reports of a luminous flying object traveling at high speed near that area at the time of this reported encounter.------------------------------------------------------------------------- November 7, 1969 Kansas, USA Two women driving home on Interstate #70 slightly after midnight, suddenly observed two bright lights in the sky. Under hypnosis, they both related similar reports of being taken aboard a craft by alien life forms. These extraterrestrial were reported as being slender, with large hairless heads, slanted non-blinking eyes, and four long slender fingers on each hands. Neither woman had ever seen or expressed any belief in UFOs previously.-------------------------------------------------------------------------- to be continued...

Interesting collection Sky Yes, and thanks for sharing ! The Nov. 1969 Kansas stamp along with the experience that happened with the 2 women is no surprise. Funny that so many people describe the same thing.

There haven't been many. Most ufo/alien stamps have been made in foreign countries. The few that have been made in the US have been oriented more towards science fiction rather than actual sightings. I guess even the postal service is in on the disinfo.

Here are the other four stamps in the Alien Sightings set that I started above. September 19, 1961 New Hampshire, USA A married couple driving home through the White Mountains noticed that thwy were being followed by what looked like a plane without wings with flashing colored lights. This object began to glow and a sense of drowsiness came over them. Thirty one miles down the road they regained their faculties, and could not explain their loss of time and palce. Under hypnosis by a doctor they recalled being stopped and abducted by figures in dark jackets, short in stature and hairless. The doctor was convinced they were not lying. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- October 25, 1973 Pennsylvania, USA Several eye-witnesses reported seeing a red ball of light hovering above a field on the outskirts of Uniontown. As they aproached it they saw two large ape-like creatures with glowing green eyes. They were between seven and eight feet tall, covered with long gray hair, with arms so long they practically dragged on the ground. Upon investigation, police reported hearing something crushing into the nearby underbrush but no evidence of the reported creatures could be found.-------------------------------------------------------------------------- May 8, 1973 Texas, USA A family was returning home when they noticed what appeared to be a light in the sky that seemed to follow them for many miles until they reached home. Years later, under hypnosis, one of the women revealed she had seen two aliens at the time, aproximately three feet in height, large heads, long claw-like nails on each of their long curved fingers, and very thin--almost skeletal--giving the appearance that if you were to touch them they would pop. Although they never spoke, they seemed to communicate telepathically.---------------------------------------------------------------------------- July 2, 1984 Missouri, USA Three young girls noticed a white, oval shaped light moving rapidly in a corner of their yard, then standing there was a strange creature. Each girl separately described this creature as thin with long slender fingers, bald egg shaped head with ridges along the top. It was also described as having a transparent abdominal area. All witnesses were considered reliable, and displayed considerable consternation and fright after this encounter.--------------------------------------------------------------------------- I couldn't help but notice in the one at the top about Betty and Barney Hill that they got the description of the aliens totally wrong in their illustration. They even portrayed Barney as being a white dude. I guess they took a few creative liberties with the illustrations. I shouldn't be complaining though. It is kind of cool that they actually made stamps with aliens on them...and they appear to be taken from genuine encounters.

That's pretty cool skywalker. Do they make any stamps with ghosts on them?

They have made a few ghost stamps, but not very many. I'll dig through my collection and see if I can find some to post here.

Maldives UFO StampsHere are a couple of UFO stamps from a country called Maldives, which I had never heard of until I found out they had made some UFO stamps. Naturally I rushed out and got a couple of them. Maldives is a small group of islands just south of the country of India in the Indian Ocean. I have never been there but since they made some UFO stamps they must be kind of cool so I will be sure to go check them out someday. The two stamps shown here were both made in 1993 as part of a set called teh Mysteries of the Universe. There were 16 stamps total depicting such things as the Loch Ness Monster, the Nazca Lines, the Bermuda Triangle and other paranormal topics. Two of them were about famous UFO sightings. The Kenneth Arnold sighting of June, 1947While flying over Washington State in June 1947, Kenneth Arnold saw a group of 9 disc shaped aircraft moving at tremendous speed. His later description of the craft gave birth to the term 'flying saucer'.--------------------------------------------------------------------- Columbus, Ohio sighting in 1973In 1973, while flying near Columbus, Ohio, four Army officers nearly collided with the vehicle pictured at the left. The illustration is based on sketches made by the officers.--------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't have the entire set of 16 of 16 stamps yet but I hope to get the rest of them soon. I'll post them here when I do.

I found another coin that shows a UFO image similar to the one that auntym posted a while ago but I haven't been able to find any info on it yet. Still looking. Judging by the things that look like arrows this "UFO" may actually be a shield.

Sky . go to marks wall on facebook . I brought a coin over here from his wall which was an ancient creek coin or Roman . But I could not bring the photo some one had made instead of some Emperor face which was the original coin. I deleted the thread. I wanted to show the hoax on here. Some one could not figure out if the coin was real with the alien face. Mark and others posted the real coin. It was a woman I believe with a bustline and a robe type clothing. What one thinks of to do amazes me.
Of course the coin above is real I assume.

Thanks, Shami. I was on Facebook looking for that "alien" coin but I couldn't remember who posted it. I knew it was a fake when I first saw it. You can tell where the coin has been modified. I'm going to go see if I can find the picture.

Here is one of the ghost stamps that I gave Casper for his birthday. It is another one of the "Mysteries of the Universe" set from Maldives. I still have one in my own collection of course. GhostsNumerous ghosts and spectres are said to haunt the castles and mansions of England, including Anne Boleyn in the Tower of London, and a number of ghosts in the Brede Mansion in Sussex.

Here is another one. This is one of a set called The Supernatural that was issued in Canada in 1997. In addition to ghosts the other stamps included vampires, werewolves and goblins. They were originally offered as a souviner sheet of sixteen stamps total. This is one of the ways that the government makes money without raising taxes on people...they make collectable stamps and coins that they know people will buy and collect. It's kind of a voluntary tax...but it does sometimes make collecting interesting.

Let me think, considering the time frame I cover, I guess I started collecting "things" in or around 1952, when I was 5, and haven't stopped since. I have an interest in tanks from WWII, metal and plastic, and guess I have , oh, maybe 100, give or take. Same with cars, metal or plastic, esp. the ones you glue together. Now those i didn't get into until around 1960, when cars were still cars, plus my dad owned 3 auto dealerships and was always bring one or two home to me, much to mom's agitation. Not much in high school years, just study, study, study, odd jobs, real jobs when I turned 16, and REAL emphasis on saving money and dating, which I had started earlier but the folks paid for it, maybe just to get me out of the house. An "unsolved mystery" for sure. About 1975, I got on this Japanese sword bing and have been collecting ever since. Oh, I'll sell some to get something different, same with hand guns. drives my wife of 40 yrs. to distraction. She prefers rifles, has about 8 or 9 of her own that her dad brought back from Europe. Don't ask me how but dad got away with it too, plus bits and pieces of uniforms, some complete. Collect PLAYBOY Magazines, from the first one up to current issue. Who said when you get "old" an attractive woman doesn't appeal to you to at least look at. I might be "well aged" , like cheese or wine, but if an attractive woman walks by in a thong bikini and is some like 33DDD-22-34, and i don't watch her as she walks by, don't even to bother checking for vital signs for I surely must be deceased.

I started collecting things way back when I was a little kid also. I just kept at it over the years. Now I have tons and tons of stuff. I'm hoping to build my own museum someday so I can put all of my collections on display. All it takes is a winning lottery ticket and I can start building. I have quite a few guns also although I don't actually collect them. I just have them for personal use. A person can never have too many weapons. I'm sure the Feds might think differently of course...

I found the picture of that "alien" coin. You know...the one I have been looking for for months and months. Would you believe I already had it on my computer and just forgot it was there? This coin keeps popping up on the net, especially on Facebook so I thought I would post it here for everybody to check it out. I'm still trying to find out the story behind it but can never get any of the details...or alleged details. Personally, I think it is a fake. It looks to me like an old coin that had a person's face on it and then it was ground down and modified to look like an alien's head. This is actually a common thing to do to some coins...I don't mean putting alien heads on them but modifying them for some reason or another. It's like the dollar bills that people sell as souvenirs that have pictures of Elvis or Santa Claus on them instead of George Washington. Back in the old days the old Buffalo nickels were often modified by hobos who would carve designs on them with a knife and then try to sell them to get enough money to buy food...(or alcohol). I have quite a few of those old "hobo" nickels in my collection. They weren't done as well as this alien coin is though. Somebody was trying hard to pass this one off as being real. I still say it's a fake though and I will continue to say that until somebody proves me wrong!

What do these words mean on the coin? What does the backside of it look like? Have you ever seen the backside? Does look alien if real.
Never heard of a hobo nickle.. ha ha.. lets see one, pretty please!! It if is a coin I'm interested. Why would they get money for a five cent piece. It is still a five cent piece is it not?

This could of been some pocket piece for good luck. Maybe some one made it for himself. Does not resemble currency to me. I'm no expert, but it seems different somehow. Old Roman coins do resemble a country .. I cannot read the letters Sky.
