I really like this guy and have been listening to him for many years. There is only one thing that he said that didn't make sense to me and I wonder if anyone else has ever caught it. He said something to the affect that when a person is abducted and in their spaceship that they should grab an item like an ashtray or other to bring back as an artifact for proof of their abduction and e.t. existence. My question is this ; How can that be done when a person is under paralysis ?

Well..I've had all sorts of friendly 'comments' in similar fashion. Abductee's should not waste the chance to communicate with them..make friends (personally I find that difficult when forcibly held to a table for samplings of my person). Yes..by all means invite them for tea..or a nice brain sample. I never saw a thing I could have snatched..except possibly by prying something out of their slimey little fingers...(again..difficult when immobilized). To be honest..unless someone has experienced that strange 'twilight' world..lapsing in and out of reality..petrified by fear..smelling your own fear..smelling..worse. They could not possibly understand the total feeling of vulnerability and inability to do much of anything. It is not a condition many of us ever do experience. At my age now...believe me things would be chugging through my brain that they would NOT want to tune into..but then...fresh and horribly alien..nah...I'm sure this guy means well..but it couldn't have happened in my universe.

That would be like a lab rat snatching a stethoscope or something. I doubt that it is going to happen. I'm sure Tyson was just trying to make a joke when he said that. People who have never experienced an abduction can not possibly know what it really feels like to be taken by our "space brothers."

Just to settle it once and for all: Which came first the Chicken or the Egg? The Egg -- laid by a bird that was not a Chicken I have been trying to explain the egg and chicken thing to people for years and all they do is look at me like...huh?

The Viking gods come from Valhalla I believe...which is sort of like Heaven. I wouldn't say that makes them alien though. Another dimension perhaps?

I just looked it up. Supposedly the Viking gods come from nine different places. Valhalla is one of them. Asgard is another. Odin supposedly rules in Valhalla.

Norse gods were from Valhalla...Roman/Greek gods from Mt. Olympus. Hero's from other worlds..make it easier to make them different..not so subject to our physical laws...dude can fly...have x ray vision..etc. I like the idea of home grown heros

Legends grow especially with the norsemen. The biger the tale the more enjoyable...a bit like Paul Bunyan who shaved with pine trees and Babe his blue Ox. When I was in school I did a term paper on the gods and goddesses...and grew to be very happy that my belief is in one supreme being rather than dozens...then there are the half gods like hercules. To me it's sad..when people try to turn god (insert favorite name here) into an alien. It removes the wonderful design of faith..and turns it into just some guy with a better set of wheels zipping around the universe parting water with his ships exhaust. I'd much much rather think of a supreme being designing the universe with love..instead of thinking I came from frog spawn in some murky swamp..energized by a lightening strike and crawling out of the ooze totally by the whim of chance. Nope..I like my miracles

I like Dr. Tyson and I understand where he is coming from when looking at this from a scientific perspective. From the video above Auntym posted. Dr. Tyson : This is very true. In fact we can point a telescope at an area of sky that you wouldn't see anything in but when you look through that scope you will be amazed ! I could do that all night long and point out deep sky objects without using a skychart, celestial coordinates of R.A. and DEC., or a goto. Just by knowing and pointing to it. But there are many within this community who have seen things that cannot be explained. I could say those orange objects were possibly manmade probes. The disappearing triangular object was possibly a test of the outer skin of an experimental aircraft. The moving objects seen all the time are most likely satellites and microid meteors. I don't know what it was we all three seen recently fly over the car. A drone ? I have seen the space shuttle re-enter orbit at a high velocity among many other explainable space projects. One of the things out of this I cannot explain is the object me and Ray saw at Pomme De terre lake when that thing came out of space and switched directions repeatedly displaying seemingly impossible g-forces and then quickly returned. I have learned that other amateur astronomers have seen similar objects. Dr. Tyson : I have brought this up before and will again. This is my rebuttal ; How can you do that when you are paralyzed ? I understand most people don't think of things like this but it is what it is and I think it should be addressed. Like so many other people I know what I saw that night with the 3 entities is just my word and I understand that it only goes so far and isn't evidence. That was one of the most extraordinary and unexplainable events in my life and it has changed me.

Dr. Tyson, being a scientist, studies things he can observe, measure, quantify, and scrutinize to the nth degree. I've come to appreciate the self-imposed limitations of scientific endeavor since science is only a tool we use to learn about this universe we find ourselves in. My time spent in the lab slaving away, wracking my brain analyzing algorithms, reminds me that humanity is best-served when science obeys those limits precisely and predictably. With that said, also remember that scientists are human beings...and like all human beings, they have their own opinions and individual perspectives. Science is an area that you might best understand as a collective human effort, because no lone scientist, regardless of how brilliant they may seem, can possibly know everything there is to know. This is behind a new motto I've adapted: a good scientist never says "never."
