I'm fortunate enough to live on Florida's beautiful Emerald Coast and further to have been privileged to participate in several paranormal investigations at the historic Pensacola Lighthouse where which was featured in and episode of SyFy channel's Ghost Hunters . In the course of those investigations my daughter, son-in-law and I experienced quite a few paranormal phenomena. On one occasion when I was flanked by my spouse and my daughter and backed into the corner of intersecting brick walls, I felt the unmistakable touch of three fingertips on my upper arm. Though it was dark I could see my wife and daughter and neither of them touched me. It was this experience that moved me from denial to open mindedness. On another occasion, I was in a hallway while the rest of my party was in either of two adjacent rooms. I backed up to the end of the hallway, wanting to rest a few moments. There was a small graphic display there telling about the two rooms which had been quarters for the lighthouse keepers. As I stood there, I was pushed from behind, hard enough to make me lose my balance. We also experience cold spots, heard footsteps and recorded EVP with digital recorders. I'm still a skeptic, but far more willing to be convinced these days.

A good dose of healthy skepticism never hurt anybody. I'm still a skeptic also even after all of the weird stuff that I have experienced. It gets kind of hard to keep denying things though after you have experienced them personally.

Did you have some? I'm not saying that such experiences as this are always fearful. Did your heart rate speed up? Did you (personally) sense other things before or after being touched or pushed? Just curious

Jcurio, enough time has passed that I have come to terms with the experience but at the time it was very disconcerting. When I felt the three finger tips touch my upper arm I already knew there was no one there who could have touched me that way, but I immediately looked anyway. I didn't experience fear as I always thought I might, but the hairs on the back of my neck stood up and I got a chill - guess you could say I was spooked. Almost immediately my daughter said, "do you feel that cold spot?" I replied that I hadn't felt it and she took my hand and moved it between us. In a narrow spot between us, about two feet off the floor there was a definite cold spot. Easy to tell because this was Florida in the summer time and there was no air conditioning in the lighthouse. Once again, no fear, but a definite sort of chill and what-the-heck feeling. The other incident where I was pushed came as less of a surprise and actually affected me as somewhat humorous. I spoke to the spirit, or whatever, and said, "Now cut that out!" My daughter got an EVP on that session and if I can find the file I'll put it in the cloud for you to check out. Prior to these experiences I never seriously believed in ghosts/paranormal phenomena, but now I at least am willing to admit the possibilities which seem to be myriad.

I took a number of photos a the lighthouse and in only one place did the dreaded "orbs" appear. They only appeared in the photos I took in the hallway that led to the spiral staircase which gave access to the upper levels of the lighthouse (unfortunately not open to the public at those times). I know with how much disdain orbs are held and I discounted this photo until my son-in-law pointed out that one orb appears to be behind the spiral staircase - I'm not convinced, but I leave it to your judgement. this photo was taken in the corner where I felt the three fingertip touch, shortly after the incident took place: As I say, I remain skeptical, but my mind is far more open now than it was before these investigations.

I have not yet found the lighthouse EVP, but after these investigations my daughter became convinced that they had brought home a spirit from the lighthouse and did some EVP sessions at home. The link is for an mp3 file that may have a response to a question - I used Audacity to amplify the pertinent spot as it was very faint. Once again, I leave it to you to draw your own conclusions: www.box.com/s/f5mhwpde7s7t84vwoln7

I spoke to the spirit, or whatever, and said. . . What the heck . Spirit or whatever. . Thanks again for your candid answers. Definitely an experience to sway a skeptic. I did hear some sort of "reply" on the evp you provided. The timing of the sound makes it believable, IMO. What is one to do after learning that there are roaming, quite possibly "lost" spirits, among us? Why would something go home with your daughter? You were willing to become a believer in the paranormal. After experiencing something like this for yourself, do you have any insights to share? You know it wasn't a "trick", so what was it? Sorry to pry. I'm so relieved that you didn't experience out-right terror, or confusion. I have felt and heard things that I could not explain, but yet the mind grasps for an explanation.

I still haven't come to a conclusion about those crazy orb thingies. They show up every once in a while in my photos too but I can't figure out why they show up in some but not others.

Invite an orb? How exactly do you do that? Maybe something like..."C'mere orb! Hey orby! I wanna take a picture of ya!"

Pretty place to visit, fully enjoyed the trips that allowed me to visit the lighthouse. Shame it's not more "haunted", just kidding.
