That’s what many of our viewers think. But they disagree on what the message is. For some, it was a clear sign from heaven, maybe a message from God himself showing his pleasure at the election of the first Latin American as the 267th successor of St. Peter. Thom George wondered “if Pope Francis ordered that.” “The Pope asked to pray for Him. .. God answered,” was Cat Sunn’s reaction. Although most of our viewers felt the cloud resembled an angel and it was a beautiful sign from above, others saw in the cloud something less angelic. CLICK HERE TO VIEW OTHER PICTURES SUBMITTED BY OUR VIEWERS. www.wptv.com/gallery/news/news_photo_gallery/angel-in-the-sky#Cristina Pina thought the cloud resembled a sea monkey. While Steve Massie thought to instruct our Facebook readers that “seeing shapes and faces in non-human objects is called “pareidolia.” One reader, Nick Stanley, even saw the dark lord – Lucifer, in the cloud. The first photo received on our studios, and posted on our Facebook page, was sent by You Reporter Jodi Guthrie. She was the first, but not the last. As of 11 p.m. we had received photos from 10 different viewers, showing different angles of the angel cloud. Monica Magalhaes contributed to this story. No - the rare phenomenon of eerily beautiful lenticular clouds captured by a Russian photographer *Russian photographer Denis Budkov, 33, captured formations the over the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia *The rare phenomenon occurs when strong winds are blocked by large geographical features such as mountains *The clouds are often mistaken for flying saucers or cover for UFOS because of their unusual shape By Rachel Reilly PUBLISHED: 04:57 EST, 7 June 2013 Hovering high above the mountains these unusual, saucer-like white masses resemble a creature or vehicle from another world - but they are in fact clouds. The natural phenomenon, known as a lenticular clouds, tend to form at high altitudes, such as above mountains. Russian photographer Denis Bukhov captured the rare phenomenon of lenticular clouds over the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia. Resembling flying saucers, they form when the air temperature drops and moisture droplets are pushed up a steep slope by high winds The lens-shaped formations are scientifically known as 'altocumulus lenticularis' and are the result of moist air that has condensed at a high altitude. They are formed when the air temperature drops and moisture droplets are pushed up a steep slope by high winds. This unique atmospheric condition creates the interesting lens-shaped form that defines a lenticular cloud. Mountains act as natural barriers forcing clouds to condense quickly as they are pushed to cooler altitudes. This is why a large or particularly tall mountain range will experience a moist climate on one side but an arid one on the other. Denis said that it is possible to walk to the top of a volcano, find the Pacific Ocean by following the mountain rivers and see the first sunrise over all of Russia WATCH VIDEO & CONTINUE READING: www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2337357/Evidence-alien-invasion-No--rare-phenomenon-eerily-beautiful-lenticular-clouds-captured-Russian-photographer.html#ixzz2VZ5FAOxw

Image: Martin Koitmäe/Wikimedia Just after summer sunsets in northern latitudes, shimmering, wispy clouds appear in the twilight sky. This year, these noctilucent clouds have appeared earlier and farther south than ever before. Noctilucent clouds exist higher in Earth’s atmosphere than any other cloud type. First observed in 1885 following the eruption of Krakatoa, they were a sight reserved for Earth’s northernmost residents. In recent years, however, their intensity and frequency have increased, often at latitudes previously thought to be too far south for noctilucent clouds to form. In 2009, scientists from the National Center for Atmospheric Research pointed to the southern creep of noctilucent clouds as an early warning signal for climate change high in the atmosphere. Now, new data from NASA’s cloud-observing AIM satellite supports this possibility. James Russell, principal investigator for AIM, says increasing methane emissions could be amping up the cloud show. “When methane makes its way into the upper atmosphere, it is oxidized by a complex series of reactions to form water vapor,” Russell said. “This extra water vapor is then available to grow ice crystals for [noctilucent clouds].” CONTINUE READING: www.wired.com/wiredscience/2013/06/noctilucent-cloud-spread/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+C2C-InTheNews+%28Feed+-+Coast+to+Coast+-+In+the+News%29

THIS IS INTERESTING... WOW Thursday, July 11, 2013 Amazing Cloud Formation Triggers UFO Speculation OnlineFootage of unusual activity of a cloud has gone viral and stirred up speculations on the cause of the strange event. The video got around 5,000 views in just a week after it being uploaded on a video sharing site. It is clearly shown in the video how a cloud erratically behaving, shifting at unusual speed and appearing to be stuck by a shaft of light. Various theories have been developed by different online citizens, ranging from somewhat ridiculous to scientific. Many theories involve unidentified flying objects and High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program of the U.S. military or shortly called as HAARP. However, the closest scientific explanation about the phenomenon is that it caused by the refraction of light through ice crystals in the cloud. This phenomenon is more commonly called as a sun dog where crystals act as prisms and the light that passes through these crystals is bent, usually developing a parhelion. apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap111108.htmlBelow this video featured in "Astronomy Picture of the Day" Nov. 2011, is a hypothesis to what may be causing this phenomena. My dad told me about this when I was young but I've never seen one yet. Lois, the film is going in real time and is not sped up. This is a true video showing a real phenomena that takes place.

(Jeff Last/Twitter) Residents of Iron Mountain, Mich. were treated to an extraordinary display of bulbous-looking clouds on Monday night. The phenomenon was captured by Joe Nottage, who posted the image on Facebook and asked, "Can anyone explain this?" Meteorologist Jeff Last tweeted the photo and wrote, "Mammatus in Iron Mt, Mich this evening. Taken by Joe Nottage. #miwx pic.twitter.com/83lsFPlBtw." What caused the formation of the ball-like clouds? As Last noted in Last's tweet, these are actually mammatus clouds, a pattern of pouches bubbling beneath the base of a larger cloud. Mammatus clouds may look ominous, and sometimes they foreshadow trouble. In fact, mammatus clouds can indicate severe thunderstorms are imminent. The clouds form following sharp gradients in temperature, moisture and wind shear, and can extend for hundreds of miles. Strange cloud activity in Belgium has prompted claims of a UFO sighting, while some believe it to be a simple storm cloud rather than alien visitation.
UFO sighting or regular storm cloud? Strange cloud activity in Belgium has prompted claims of a UFO sighting, while some believe it to be a simple storm cloud rather than alien visitation. In the video clip below, one can see a storm cloud formation, although thunder and lightning cannot be heard or seen. But what's interesting about the video is the light within the cloud appears to continuously flicker off, before coming back on again in a steady flow. This definitely does not seem like normal lightning activity. "Lighting does not last more than a split second, so there is some kind of powerful energy source inside to create this light," affirms UFO Sightings Daily creator Scott Waring. And so far, the video has gone viral with nearly 30,000 views on YouTube, with many finding the phenomenon odd and believing it to be a UFO sighting hidden under the guise of a cloud. However, others on YouTube fail to see this as anything out of the ordinary, much less a UFO sighting. "There are no UFOs, just an idiot making us watch a video of a cloud," writes QuantumSanctum. "How can there be a light so bright out of nowhere? And no thunder... I believe clouds and UFOs have a lot to do with each other," continues vcarreon04. It looks like that photo may have been taken with a camera that had a curved lense, like a fish-eye lens perhaps. I don't think the cloud was really curved like a boomerang like that. I suppose I could be wrong though. It sure wouldn't be the first time. I don't seem to know anything about monkeys so why would I know about cameras or clouds?

if that were the case wouldn't the whole picture be curved? It would be more curved towards the ends and more normal looking in the center. It kind of looks like that is the way it is but it's hard to say for certain without knowing what the building really looks like in real life.

That photo was taken with a paannamic lens. The curvature clearly radiates from a fixed point of reference (in this case, the front doors of the building). You can see the effect both in the sky above the building and on the turf at the bottom of the photo. Here's an example of an image recorded by a paannamic lens assembly. Different orientations produce different results.

Here are the photos that Shami took. They look very similar. Shami once again comes through with some photos of some weird stuff. It's like she is living in the Bloomington Triangle or something where strange things just keep showing up. These were taken on April 21 of this year. What the heck is this? Look right in the center of this photo. There is a gap in the clouds and barely visible in the gap is a round yellow thing. It's not the sun though. There appears to possibly be two others hidden behind the clouds too. Here's a close up. Here's a closer up. Is the closest up. I adjusted the contrast just a tad so it would show up better. It looks like a big yellow ball of light. Shami said the sun was in a totally different direction. And if she had been photographing the sun it would have been a heck of a lot brighter than this. You can see blue sky around it also. That wouldn't be possible if it were the sun.

They aren't really UFOs since the phenomenon has been identified. Might be an IFO.
Actually, since sundogs are caused by ice crystals in the atmosphere they are kinda related to clouds.

this does not even resemble a sundog. This is in the early afternoon with a storm moving in from the north. It was very black. the only reason I shot at this was because the blue sky was there and not any where else at the time. I was searching the sky and thought will a ufo is not going to be coming out of any of this into blue sky like before but then I seen this tiny opening. It looked so strange bright blue against the black and I said are you peeking out here and took the shot. I only missed it in my computer for awhile as I never zoomed in on it.

Take a look at them . They all glow in some sense. I have seen sundogs all my life. In fact I seen one last summer. It was a small glowing rainbow. but it cover half my neighbors roof looking at it. Yes the women in video said it glowed. It is so dull. No one can figure out what it is.
I was not facing the sun at all. . But what I witnessed last summer that sundog was straight up with the sun sitting a little to the south of it. If that was a sundog it would be shining.

I have to admit that Shami's photos do look different from most of the ones in the link that Jo posted. Maybe it is because of the dark clouds that were covering it up. Perhaps the cloud filtered the light just a little so it didn't glow as brightly so that the round shape was more visible. I've never seen a sundog myself that I can remember, not in real life anyway, but I have seen pictures that showed two or three round suns that all looked the same...they were just in different parts of the sky. I guess the atmospheric conditions determine how the thing is going to look.
I still think those photos are amazing. You are catching all kinds of cool stuff up there.
