Some glow in the dark millipedes have been discovered living on Alcatraz island and other parts of California. www.livescience.com/28226-glowing-millipedes-on-alcatraz.html?cmpid=514627These were photographed under a black light but other varieties actually do glow in the dark. Entomologists (Bug-ologists ) claim the little critters glow to warn predators that they are poisonous. Since they contain small amounts of cyanide I am sure the predators are grateful.
