Students Capture HD Video of “Sea Monster” Stalking Northern Ireland
Did a group of kids from Northern Ireland capture a lake monster in Lough Foyle, off the River Foyle? You can watch the footage and decide for yourself.

The students were visiting the lake while filming a short film project entitled ‘Fishing with David Lynch’, when they captured what looks like a large creature breaking through the water. The “creature” swims along the surface of the lake, rather uninterested in the gasping onlookers, and then disappears under the water and out of sight.
The footage was released by Conall Melarkey from Moville, Donegal in Ireland, and has already amassed over 100,000 views in a very short while, stirring up loads of controversy at the same time.
A large portion of those who have viewed the 31 second clip are calling it a hoax thanks to several apparent inconsistencies. Residents of Lough Foyle are saying the location of video couldn’t possibly have been filmed in Foyle and was, in actuality, filmed in Howth, near Dún Laoghaire harbor, 130 miles away.
Other skeptics point to the second boat in the background of the clip as the culprit for fakery. They say that when viewed in high definition, you’ll notice a series of what almost look to be rigs and pulleys between the two boats, a mechanism they believe was used to pull the beast through the water.
Despite the naysayers, Conall remains adamant that the footage is not a hoax.
“Can’t believe people are suggesting this is just a viral promotion for our wee college project, which is only like 2 minutes long,” he wrote. “We’re not even going to upload it to YouTube.”
There are many stories of strange and wonderful sea and river creatures that have been recorded and told all over Northern Ireland, stories that many locals say lend credence to the video.
