Alaska Sighting
I am not a UFO buff, I do not read much about Unidentified Flying Objects, or take on to , and I am not "blown about of winds" as the Bible says, but I am going to tell you what I saw. I did not think too much about it at the time, but now it will send some cold chills up my back ever-once-in- awhile when I think about it.
It was about 53 years ago when I saw it, in Alaska, near Seward, it was winter, on a cold clear moon lite night, about mile 4 on the Seward-Anchorage Highway. I was out jogging , I could easily see the snow covered mountains by the moonlight, and the light layer of snow crunched under my feet. Then I saw a light, a very bright light, and I thought to myself that there was a light over Bear Lake, which was about 4 miles away. A helicopter maybe with a bright light, it was weaving , maybe it was searching for someone I thought. Then it did something that blew my mind, it went behind a mountain, that mountain was Sheep Mountain, and going behind that mountain meant that the bright light was at least 30 miles away! It then came out on the Kenai Lake side of the mountain, and then took a very sharp angle upward. The light seemed to dim more and more as it went up. since I was by a rather high hill with tall trees on it the object went behind the trees out of my view, and that was the last I saw of the object.
I have wondered about this very bright light ever since I saw it. Was it a ? If it was military it was flying below the height of the mountains, and very strange for an aircraft flying in that area. Most of the planes I have seen fly in the valleys on the Kenai . Also when it shot up at an angle it was, in my opinion, flying at a speed no plane could match.
I honestly believe now that I saw something that was not of this world. That is what I saw, believe what you will.
Now here is something else: I was watching a T.V. program one day about UFOs, and on that show there was an Alaskan native talking about a UFO that he saw. The native said he witnessed a very bright light, up close, maybe thirty feet away, and close to the ground, he said the light just stood there in the air, and he just stood there watching it. He said the light was featureless, and he watched it for a few minutes, and then the light just moved away.
This sighting by the native interested me very much, because it sounded like what I saw, and it could have been the same object. Keep searching the skies my friends.
