OK. This is not exactly about dreaming. Maybe.
It's about the sounds in my/our house. They may just be more obvious when I am lying in bed - but somehow I doubt it. Because I have a CPAP making its rhythmic noises (that vary according to my position). And because I'm next to a human who makes his own noises.
But every night...I hear stuff. Sometimes I quiet my breath so I can hear BETTER. Sometimes I can hear no matter what is going on, so I just lay there and listen. I'm not particularly frightened because I have come to the conclusion that there is nothing corporal in our house. Although something seems to bump into things in adjacent rooms. Recently I woke up (or noticed from a half-asleep state) that one sounded a lot like a cat - soft purring, a licking sound, then nothing. Sometimes the house gives a great groaning creak. (No its NOT the heating ducts husband). I once said that to Terry in bed, "So do you think its the heating ducts? The furnance hasn't been on in weeks."
No, he sighed.
So we lay together while somethings thump and make little noises and such. My husband used to be an exterminator. We do not have rats or mice or racoons living under the roof. The family (his family who lived here before me) did have a cat but Terry never liked it and it certainly could chose more sympathetic or even frightened people to haunt. If cats haunt. (He did say it disappeared). (No he did not kill it.)
I have heard things in the wild (well, camping in a campsite that backed onto the wild). I had heard grunts, coughs (probably bear), bushes rattling (deer or bear). Once I woke up with a jolt because I thought I had heard something leap up onto the roof of my surfing van where I slept. (probably a racoon, could have been a cougar). All these things conspired to cause me to have a coffee can I peed in at night. Just didn't want to go outside at 2am anymore.
Haven't camped in years. Now the sounds have moved inside with me. If its paranormal, its a mild situation. I might lie awake a few extra minutes. I've even thought - if someone did enter the house and trip over debris in our hall, they might wonder why we just lay there in bed. But that's not a thought I like to entertain. I once heard footsteps overhead when I was in the basement and wide awake (working on rocks). I was sure it was Terry and so yelled, "Hello Terry!" It wasn't Terry. I left the house by the front door, hoping that if it had been someone they would have exited through one of the other choices. Nothing was missing or disturbed however.
So it goes here.
It has occurred to me that some part of my brain is like a radio receiver off station, picking up the odd skip signal from...? However Terry hears some of these noises as well...
