Strange "moaning sounds" and even tears have been reported coming from the bronze statue entitled " "Virginia Mourning Her Dead". Also "haunted by the states Civil War dead is a mural in Jackson Memorial Hall. But the most "horrendous presence" is the "Yellow Peril". "It" has described by most as "phantom with a yellow face and having a bleeding scare on its face", at least by those willing to talk about "it". This particular "thing" haunts the third floor of the VMI barracks. The Institute was established in 1839. One professor there would gain respect and admiration from his peers and followers, and by those he commanded. While others looked on him with fear, loathing, hatred, and in some a measure of respect for what he accomplished in battle. The man's name was General "Stonewall" Jackson. Ironic that Jackson's own men mistook him and his fellow riders returning from a scouting mission before Gettysburg, and fatally wounded him. Now "ain't that irony"? Been to see the statue several times and honestly, it looks rather "sinister". My opinion.
