www.ufofestivalroswell.com/article.php?story=welcome&sms_ss=twitthis&at_xt=4da20a3cecbc3423%2C0 ROSWELL UFO FESTIVAL 2011Welcome to the Official 2011 UFO Festival!See the mystery and excitement for yourself July 1-4, 2011! The City of Roswell invites UFO enthusiasts and skeptics alike to join in the celebration of one of the most debated incidents in history. The three-day event will feature guest speakers, authors, live entertainment, a costume contest, a pet costume contest, parade, family-friendly activities and more. If you are a visitor to Roswell, there are plenty of lodging options available. There are many hotels within a two mile radius of the event. Roswell also has public bus transportation with Pecos Trails Transit. The majority of the events will be held downtown, with very few exceptions. All events are within walking distance. All events and activities are free to the public! The UFO Musuem charges a nominal fee to help raise funds for their new building. Check out our Events page to see all that we are offering. We encourage you to bring your camera and the entire family to help preserve your memories of probably the best time you will ever have! In early July, 1947, a mysterious object crashed on a ranch 30 miles north of Roswell. The Roswell Army Air Field (RAAF) issued a statement claiming to have recovered a crashed "flying disk." An article ran on the front page of the Roswell Daily Record and the next day, RAAF changed its statement to say that the object was a weather balloon, not a flying disk as they previously reported. This revised statement sparked immediate controversy and has continued to be a topic of debate more than 60 years later.

This sounds kind of interesting. I might cruise on out there since I live kind of close to it. I wouldn't mind checking out a UFO festival. I've been to Roswell a few times but there's normally not much to see.

willamettelive.com/story/UFO_Festival_comes_to_McMinnville127.htmlUFO Festival comes to McMinnvilleBy Shawn Estes from Salem Weekly, Section News Posted on Tue May 03, 2011 It sounds like something that Fox Mulder and Dana Scully would investigate. In 1950, a local McMinnville couple, Evelyn and Paul Trent, spotted a UFO. As the story goes, the object increased speed and took off, and Paul snapped photos as quickly as his '50s-era camera could capture them. He got two before the object disappeared. After the attention of the national press was caught, McMinnville was dubbed “Saucerville” and the local newspaper of the time reprinted thousands of their front pages, across which blazed Trent’s UFO picture. One of those copies is on display at McMenamins' Hotel Oregon. Now, over 50 years later, McMinnville makes use of its Saucerville heritage with a UFO Festival. Organizers call the event the second largest UFO festival in the country, and the city becomes an alien destination, if not for real little green men, at least for the costumed variety. The event is highlighted with a UFO parade put on by the McMinnville Downtown Association. McMenamins hosts a number of speakers for the event; this year they’ll host Robert Salas, Stan Gordon, and Paola Harris. Salas has been a researcher and speaker on UFOs at nuclear weapons bases since 1994. He’ll be speaking on the 1967 UFO encounters at Malmstrom Air Force Base where two launch facilities found that nuclear missiles in their control became non-operational simultaneously. Gordon is an on-scene investigator who has experienced thousands of unexplained encounters. Harris is a photojournalist and investigative reporter who has followed the UFO field since 1979. Harris will talk about an incident that occurred in 1945 in San Antonio, New Mexico and is detailed in the book “Born the Edge of Ground Zero, Living in the Shadow of Area 51.” The speakers form just the tip of the meteor in this weekend dedicated to all things alien. There will be an alien pet costume parade, various musical performances, and an alien costume ball. New this year is an independent film festival that will be judged on May 13-14 during matinees and then screened on the evening of May 14. Entries must be UFO-, alien-, or science fiction-themed. For more information on entries, visit macmovietime.com. For the full schedule of events, visit the UFO Festival’s website at ufofest.com. Tickets are available online until May 12. They range from $10 per individual event or frugal aliens can purchase a three-event combo ticket for $25.

Why do those people look like blue tigers? Are they nuts? If they are crazy people they should be wearing blue tinfoil hats to go with their blue tiger underwear.

ufoomnibus.com/2011/06/24/roswell-gears-up-for-ufo-festival/www.krqe.com/dpp/news/southeast/roswell-gears-up-for-ufo-festival Roswell gears up for UFO Festival Two popular events missing
Updated: Thursday, 23 Jun 2011, 6:33 PM MDT Published : Thursday, 23 Jun 2011, 5:15 PM MDT * Reporter: Gabrielle Burkhart ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) - Roswell is gearing up for its annual UFO Festival set for the July 4th weekend. Business owners line main street with everything you can think of in way of alien memorabilia. But two things that won't be at the festival this year are the parade and annual barbecue competition. Festival committee organizer Julie Shuster said there was a lack of participation for those events. "Being Fourth of July, family stuff, all kinds of different things--we just didn't have the entries," Shuster said. "So we felt like if we didn't have a certain number, we weren't going to do it." Shuster stressed this doesn't mean the festival won't be successful. "We want everybody to know, don't look forward to those two items, but still come for barbecue, and still come see the entries," she said. She said the those who already entered those two events will still be able to showcase their floats and food. While many people in Roswell depend on the festival for a boost in business, hotels especially depend on the economic boost. "To be honest, this weekend is one of two of the biggest weekends of the entire year, and also the fact that it is a four-day event it brings a lot of revenue to all the hotels in Roswell," said Dawn Ortega, manager of Fairfield Inn & Suites. Ortega said her hotel is already booked for the Friday and Saturday of that weekend. While some hotels are filling up, others still have vacancies. "We're not expecting much," said Patrick Shelley, managing owner of Holiday Inn Express. "We're at about 50 percent right now, and we're usually booked up right now." A new event is being added to this year's UFO Festival. The first-ever alien wine festival will be held July 1 and 2.

I wanted to go to the festival in Roswell this year but my stupid company won't let me have time off then. They said that too many people want off for the Fourth of July weekend so I have to work. Bummer. Are there any UFO festivals anywhere in August? How about the rest of the year. I'm going to go to one sooner or later. I want it to be a really cool one.

Shag Harbor is way the heck up in Canada. I think that is just a little bit out of my area. I want to wait for something closer. I know there are a lot of UFO festivals in the Southwest. I think Kingman Arizona has one, and there is one in Missouri. There was one in California back in June. ai might have to wait till next year. Maybe then I will get to go to Roswell.

Some people have no want at all to relive bad incidents and it's sometimes pretty daunting having enthusiasts hanging around when you're not at all enthused From what I gather, it was a horrifying incident and it's a little disturbing to be shooting at something that is invading your property to no effect. The Sutton incident is one of the few I truly believe. The festival should be interesting.

I never knew much about the Sutton family, except Lonnie .. I just found out a year ago he passed away. He was a a younger brother who hid on the floor behind the bed... But he was aware of it all. In his interviews he always spoke about the aliens on the roof of the house. That must of been a big trauma for him.. Do you know his age Ron when this event took place?
I have him doing about six interviews over the years.
He wanted the people to know his family was not drunk..
When the skeptics said: It could of been monkeys which escaped from a carnival in the area.. Lonnie would say. Have you ever seen a silver monkey? With big ears? lol
I would not give up my old vhs tapes for anything.. When I get a dvd recorder I can copy all of them..
Ron be sure and let us know all about it if you attend. You are right?
