OK. Most of you know - my husband is somewhat brain damaged and reading doesn't work for him. (Remembering doesn't either but that's another story). Anyway I was reading a new to me book by Charlene Harris (author of the Sucky Stackhouse Southern Vampires stories). They are much better than the TV show was by the way. ANYWAY...
It was the beginning of the book and a sherrif was explaining to a psychic investigator that the young man's truck was found at a trailhead and his wallet in a ditch a half-mile down the road.
Suddenly I got a clear picture of a brown worn wallet in a ditch that had some water in it. I could see the weeds and the wallet was open, face-down. I just stopped completely. Where did this come from? It was like a clear memory. The description in the book wasn't nearly as detailed. IT WAS LIKE I HAD SEEN THIS BEFORE.
A new experience for me definitely. I like to read - silently to myself and alound for both of our pleasure. I like saying each word and trying to get the inflection right the first time through. (which means I read slightly ahead of where I am in the sentence). But I don't read a chapter ahead. And I don't have flashes of what it appears to look like -without being guided by the prose. This is just weird IMO.
