During the Christmas holidays this year I noticed a twist-on battery operated candle was found glowing brightly the day after Christmas. Being married for almost 31 years, and living with hubby dearest who never tuns the lights off , I thought he turned the candle on and forgot to turn it off. I asked my family if they knew who was turning and leaving the candle on. The kids said the candle had been turning itself on while they were in the computer late at night. They turned the candle off and went to bed. Later the candle was found on by me. No one claimed to turn the candle on, in fact everyone denied doing so. Who turned the candle on? I don't know but it wasn't hubby dearest nor my kids. I like to think it was my Mom who was wishing us a merry Christmas. It was our first Christmas without her. daisy

Thanks! I do too. The funny thing is that it never scared me and I found it comforting.
We've had a couple other ghostly experiences in this house but they were creepy.

Glad it wasn't a real candle - that could have been problematic. What happens with me is that after a friend dies and some time passes - I "happen to find" something that they suggested I read or that they gave me - on top of a pile of stuff. Once I was in a bookshop and a book literally fell on my head - it was a book on angels (not a usual choice of mine) supposedly written by Michael (archangel doncha know?). I bought it and read it - it was comforting at the time. I mean, to not buy it seemed unnecessarily stubborn even for me...

I think the spirits of our loved ones do come back to visit us and watch over us sometimes. The candle and the book might have been a way to get people's attention. Maybe they were trying to say something.

I think the spirits of our loved ones do come back to visit us and watch over us sometimes. The candle and the book might have been a way to get people's attention. Maybe they were trying to say something. Perhaps she was letting me know she like her obituary which I wrote for our local newspaper...perhaps she wanted to wish us a Merry Christmas...perhaps she just wanted us to know she still loved us. I do know I must have felt her passing as I awoke with a start at about the time she probably passed away in her sleep. I couldn't figure out why I awoke at 5:30 a.m., heart pounding almost like someone was trying to break in the house and I was on full alert, and there was nothing wrong where I was at. I laid in bed for about a half hour before I returned to sleep. About an hour later my father called to let me know my mom had passed way during the night. No autopsy was done but the coroner estimated her time of death as being about the same time I awoke heart pounding. Also, the night before she passed away I could not sleep and was full of energy all night. I kept feeling like something was going to happen (I've had this happen before other unknown big events) so I knew something was afoot. I just didn't know what. All I know is that I spent the evening sewing and waiting.... All I can say is there a lot we don't know about life. daisy
