I also thought I was old when I turned 30. believe me it is not old. You will look back at 50 and say I was so young. Save your crying for 50. as it is the beginning of the downfall to me. Happy Birthday again.
Way back when I was a teenager I remember hearing my friends say that they wanted to be dead before they were thirty because they did not ever want to get old. I never said that myself but I always wondered if I would make it that far because of all the crazy messes that I got myself into.
Now here I am over forty and I wake up every day and realize just how precious life is. I love living. I want to get as much out of life as I possibly can for as long as I possibly can. So far I think I am doing a pretty good job of it.
I may not be as young as I used to be, and I'm not in the shape I was in back in high school and college, but in some ways I think I am in better shape now than I was back then. I was thinner and faster back then, but I am stronger and have more endurance now. I'm also a lot smarter now than I was back then.
What I am trying to say is that it doesn't matter if you are 30, 60 or 90...life is still worth living. Enjoy it while you can because it doesn't last forever.

thanks a lot everyone for the warm words
Well I am now 30 years and 4 days old. I think i want to get married this year or next. All my friends are married and most envy me for the freedom i have. But they also say "you should get married" - like everyone!
mdaisy - thank you yes.. 30 is a lot younger than 55 he he. I guess I will experience that too!
swamprat - no buddy.. I won't expect you to feel sorry for me But then there is no comparison. we are a generation or 2 apart. We can learn a lot more from your generation. We just have to be open to it
Lorelei - And skywalker is not old until he is Spotless' or Swamprat's age ;D And it goes on.....
Lois - Well my mom is 50 and shes soo sweet and she teaches me a lot even today. Well i guess I will look back at the pics of today and say "i was soo young"
Touched - ditto as what i said to Lorelei.. you are not old until you get to older people's age!!
Auntym - I guess you are right. I have learnt a lot over the years. But i guess being 28 was great for me. I am not sure how much more I learnt in the past 2 years. But it would like to be 28 till i die - like that Bryan Adams guy (18 till i die... number).
Not that it is relevant, but I will share something with all you guys, I saw the other day. I don't know obviously what it'd be like at 38 or 40 but I guess I got a glimpse of it.
I was in the dep store. A man was in the line. He was accompanied by his wife & 2 kids. He was wearing a t-shirt and jeans. The woman was traditionally clad. The kids were cute.. very cute.. boy & a girl. I LOVE kids.. I love watching them and talking to them.
So this guy was in the line, looking straight at the counter. He was silent. Not looking at anyone. He held that shopping card. The wife was looking at him and incessantly talking. Couldn't hear what. The guy was nodding every now and then. Speaking almost zero. The kids - one on either side. One pulling his pants one his t-shirt. Talking at the same time, expressing their desires or demands. "papa i want this.. papa buy me this.. papa buy me that". You know like pulling him, pushing him and continuously saying the same thing "papa pleeeeeeeeease...."
The guy was mostly silent.. ignoring them.. and I then got onto the line. I looked at the whole picture.. Together. It stuck with me. I thought "this is what is going to happen to me". I was lost for a minute. I was accompanied by my friend. He jerked me back to this world and he was laughing. He asked "scared??". He is married and all. Then he said "you are going to do ok.. its normal". I had quite mixed feelings about it. Just thought i will share it with you guys
Skywalker - well said though I can't imagine 90!! Thats too far out for me. I think I will die by the time i am 60-61. Let us see..
Son was born yesterday (30 yesterdays ago). Husband today (61 yesterdays...). Not long until the calendar turns over for me at 63. I got a walking stick for my BD. My husband got a rocking recliner. Cancers can be fairly laid back even before they get old....
DISCLAIMER: If we weren't half crazy we wouldn't be here But then they'd just have to find another place to keep us
