www.rollingstone.com/tv/tv-news/tim-conway-carol-burnett-show-dead-obituary-835308/ R.I.P TIM CONWAY Tim Conway, Comedy Great, ‘Carol Burnett Show’ Star, Dead at 85by Jon Blistein: www.rollingstone.com/author/jon-blistein/May 14, 2019 Actor, writer picked up six Emmys over course of prolific career Tim Conway, the prolific comedian best known for his work on 'The Carol Burnett Show,' has died at the age of 85. CBS Photo Archive/Getty ImagesTim Conway, the versatile comedian best known for his work on The Carol Burnett Show, died Tuesday in Los Angeles, Variety reports. He was 85. A representative for Conway said he died from complications from a long illness, including hydrocephalus, or water on the brain. Conway was a prolific performer and writer throughout his career, though by his own admission, he always preferred being a supporting player rather than a star. “I don’t feature myself as being the head man,” he said in a 2004 interview (via NPR). “I would much rather stand in the background and make small, funny things go, than be up at the head of the class.” Conway excelled at just that during his tenure on The Carol Burnett Show. He was a frequent guest on the sketch show for eight years before becoming a series regular in 1975. He ultimately took home four Emmys for his work on the show, three for performance and one for writing. A deft improvisor and a slapstick specialist, Conway regularly caused his co-stars Harvey Norman, Vicki Lawrence, Lyle Waggoner and Burnett herself to crack up in the middle of scenes. Two of Conway’s best-known characters were the Oldest Man and Mr. Tudball. The former was a shuffling geriatric who struggled to complete high-energy tasks often required of him, while the latter was a pedantic businessman whose jobs were typically derailed by his dimwitted assistant, Mrs. Wiggins, played by Burnett. Born in Willougby, Ohio in 1933, Conway got his start in comedy in the late Fifties after being discharged from the Army, writing and performing in sketches for local Cleveland TV stations. His big break came when he was cast as a regular performer on The Steve Allen Show, while later he starred in the hit Sixties sitcom, McHale’s Navy, for which he earned his first Emmy nomination. In 1970, Conway was given the chance to star in his own sitcom, The Tim Conway Show, and his own sketch/variety series, The Tim Conway Comedy Hour, but neither lasted more than a season. Along with his regular work on The Carol Burnett Show during the Seventies, Conway appeared in a series of family-friendly Disney comedies including The World’s Greatest Athlete and The Apple Dumpling Gang. Those films found him performing alongside his longtime friend, Don Knotts, with whom he would go on to make a pair of succesful independent comedies, 1979’s The Prize Fighter and 1980s The Private Eyes. In the late Eighties, Conway starred in a series of short projects as a squat man named Dorf who spoke in a Swedish accent not dissimilar to his Mr. Tudball character. Along with his Dorf series, Conway continued to act in a variety of TV shows and films, notching guest appearances on shows like Coach and Mad About You. Towards the end of his career, Conway even made inroads with a completely new generation of comedy fans, voicing the aging superhero Barnacle Boy on SpongeBob SquarePants. In 2008, Conway won his sixth and final Emmy for his guest appearance on a Season Two episode of 30 Rock. www.rollingstone.com/tv/tv-news/tim-conway-carol-burnett-show-dead-obituary-835308/

Such a terribly sad day...I try to think of how excited and happy to be there...they were. I hope when I go it's doing something I am very passionate about... What a “whimsical” statement. When it comes down to it, I am going to enjoy a ton of re-reading Jo 😊. Such an encouraging way of putting things.... I never thought of her as “old”. Definitely had no thoughts of her being on her way to dying of cancer, or even being “sick”. Even when she asked me for specific prayer...... I know that I told her that I loved her; quite a bit. 🤗 I know that she was valued by others, and her close family. If I miss her, as an “internet friend” (we never met face to face), how much more others may be missing her ...... Recently, I told someone that I had lost an “internet friend”. They obviously did not take it seriously. They asked me questions like “do you know where she lived?”, etc. and I waved off any more questions. 🙁 I’ve known Jo since around 2007. How do I know her? Well, I have been speaking with her for 12 years; sometimes more than once a day. 👍🏻 And I feel GOOD about it. (Refusing to feel anything but GOOD; today)

I hate it. People talk about going back to "normal". Will we? Will we join without worrying about other people near us? Will we "Americans" (I am an expat) ever trust that justice will prevail?
So sorry for the Joiners. Are they part of TEOR or public figures? Tried to look her up. There are a lot of Angelia Joiners! Found an Angelina with a Randall - looking for a foster home for his parents' small dogs while they (the owners are in hospital. [here I guess COVID and I also guess that he was around them].
Another everyday tragedy.

Just posted by Grant Cameron:
From Angelia's daughter a little over a hour ago:
"My mom Angelia sadly passed away a few moments ago. Although her journey on this earth has ended I am thankful she is no longer in pain and is with her loved ones on the other side. I was able to see her and read her all the sweet messages everyone sent. She knew how loved she was. I greatly appreciate everyone’s prayers and support. You don’t know what it means to us."
I spoke to Angelia a few months back. She asked me about death. We spoke back and forth. She had just been treated for cancer. Her last Facebook message was that she was being moved to ICU. She said she was weary and it appeared she had given up after Randell was moved to another hospital and died.
Angelia became famous in Ufology for her breaking the Stephenville UFO sighting in 2008. It cost her her job when the paper told her to ignore the witnesses that continued to report. She never worked as a full -time journalist again and the family struggled financially. She continued to watch the UFO field but refused any interviews I requested for myself or others.
I told her then and I will repeat. Angelia Joiner took a major hit for the UFO community for standing up and continuing to talk to the UFO witnesses. I said it cost her in this life but in centuries to come when the truth of the UFO story is told her grandchildren and great grandchildren will be proud of who she was and what she did.
Angelia was open and a straight shooter, such as her skepticism on my orb research. At one point Angelia and I were working on a presidential UFO Book It is a very sad day, but I and others will never forget what she did. Thanks for the memories Angelia.
Grant

I met Angelia and Randell once. I bought a wooden desk and filing cabinet from her when they were changing addresses in Stephenville. They both seemed like good, decent, down home country people. It’s a tragedy for both the UFO community and the rest of the world that they would both be taken too soon. Stupid virus May they both Rest In Peace

The article from Grant Cameron states Angelia also had cancer.... so, weakened immune system?
Does it really matter? Covid takes, and takes.... whom it chooses. And I am incredibly sad.
I remember the name. I remember the Stephenville event, and her name tied to it.
The idea that she also suffered from cancer bothers me greatly.

Angelia and Randell JoinerWednesday, January 16, 2008 Stephenville UFO: The Initial ReportsPossible UFO Sighting By ANGELIA JOINER Stephenville Empire Tribune 1-10-08 Four area residents witness mysterious object, lights in Selden sky Steve Allen, Mike Odom and Lance Jones were out admiring a beautiful Texas sunset Tuesday evening when they saw something none of them can explain. Allen called it an unidentified flying object. And, because he's been a private pilot for more than 30 years, he has a little more experience judging air speeds and distances than most. “We all flipped out,” Allen said. “I didn't sleep a wink last night.” Allen was at the home of Mike Odom in Selden about 6:15 p.m. when they suddenly noticed flashing lights about “3,500 feet above ground level,” he said. “The ship wasn't really visible and was totally silent, but the lights spanned about a mile long and a half mile wide,” Allen said. “The lights went from corner to corner. It was directly above Highway 67 traveling towards Stephenville at a high rate of speed - about 3,000 miles per hour is what I would estimate.” Allen said the lights were not those of a normal aircraft. He said they were more like strobe lights, and while they were all watching, the lights reconfigured themselves from a single horizontal line into two sets of vertical lights. “The two sets were approximately one-quarter of a mile apart,” Allen said. “Then they turned into dirty burning flames. The flames were not blue. They were white in color. About two seconds later it disappeared completely.” Allen said they were all scratching their heads and talking about what it could have been, when approximately 10 minutes later, the object flew overhead again. “This time it came from the west traveling east towards Glen Rose,” Allen said. “And it was about two or three miles south of 67, and two military jets, possibly F16s, were in pursuit.” “I was asking, “Are you guys seeing that?” Allen said. Mike Odom said he didn't have trouble sleeping but it was a “wild experience.” “It's unexplainable,” Odom said. “It was something not natural; it was moving way too fast.” Odom said he saw one other unexplainable object in the sky in 1978 when he was in Arizona. “Back then something flew over with lights all around,” Odom said. “I think this thing bothered all of us, but it probably bothered Steve more because he's a pilot and he flies a lot.” “It was neat,” Lance Jones said. “It was something. I've never seen anything like it before but it didn't scare me. I just figured it was military.” Odom's wife, Claudette, said she was previously employed as a flight attendant. “Lights were going up and down the side,” she said. “There was no sound, just the lights. It was moving so fast. It wasn't a plane. I know how planes move. Honestly, I think it was a UFO. It was so fast you couldn't have put your finger on it and move it fast enough to follow it.” Allen said he has never seen a UFO until now, but he did suspect there was something to UFO stories all along. “I was very surprised to finally get my eyes on one,” Allen said. “If anybody else saw this and got pictures I hope they will contact me.” Allen said he has already reported the sighting to Washington, and is in the process of writing a report on the event. Allen is the owner of L & S Enterprises and Texas Freight in Glen Rose. He can be contacted at 254-898-1117. The group plans to return to Odom's house and keep an eye on the sky in the near future, hoping to see it again.
