On my trip to Nevada recently I found something interesting and I could use some help identifying it. It appears to be the remains of some sort of Native American dwelling or something. It consists of a large stone circle with a smaller stone circle inside of it. Inside that the ground is raised several inches with gravel and there appears to be a fire pit in the center. Inside the "fire pit" was a big pile of sticks that looked as if somebody was about to build a fire but never did, or it could be some type of animal building a nest. I did not see any evidence of fire anywhere in the "fire pit." I'm just assuming that is what it was. There is what appears to be a pathway leading from the inner circle to the outer one. I assume it was leading to an opening or doorway. On another part of the inside of the larger circle there was a smaller semi-circle with a few random rocks scattered around inside. It's possible they may have formed some sort of design but I don't know for sure. The stone circle thingy was situated on top of a small hill overlooking a hot mineral spring that bubbled up out of the ground. Skygirl is the one who actually showed me the circle thingy. We also went rock hunting together and found several arrowheads and stone tools in the vicinity of the circle and the spring so I know there were Native Americans camped there at one time. They would probably still be there if the white peoples had not come along and killed them all. Does anybody have any idea what this thingy is...or was?

Don't pay any attention to the words written inside of it.

I'm not an archaeologist, but the psychic impression I am having is that it was made by children or teenagers who were playing. They didn't have matches to make a fire... so they just left the "kindling" where it was.
Or... possibly a satanic or pagan cult does rituals there. Who knows... ~shrug~
It doesn't look like a ruined building to me... but then again I am not an archaeologist... ~shrug~

I've studied a little bit of archaeology and i know that some Native American tribes would build Tee-pee type dwellings by putting wooden poles up in a pyramid shape and covering them with buffalo hides. They would then put rocks around the edges to anchor the hides down.
This circle looks similar to something like that but not the same. I didn't see any evidence that there were ever any poles or hides there either, but after who knows how many years they may not be any evidence.
I doubt that teenagers did it because whoever built it put a lot of time and effort into it. I'm going to have to read through some of my archaeology books when I get a chance. Maybe I can find something similar to it.

To the Native American, the circle is very sacred..infinity, never ending, completion, seasons (read the poem below). There are a few Native American 'Medicine Wheels' or Prayer Circles in Nevada Sky...it's probably a lesser known one of them..see if these are similar to you en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicine_wheelwww.uen.org/Lessonplan/preview.cgi?LPid=16392The Rock and The Eagle Speaks All is a circle and a hoop within me. If I speak in the language you taught me I am all but one. Look inside the circle and the hoop You will see your relation and nations. Your relation to the four legged And the two legged And the winged ones And to the mother earth The grandfather sun The grandmother moon The direction and the sacred seasons. And the universe You will find love for your relation. Look further inside the sacred circle And the sacred hoop In the center of the circle and the hoop You will feel the spirit Of the great creator He is in the center of everything Learn about what you are By observing what you are not. A Circle and Hoop Within Me Bear Boy Ute Spiritual Leader I think there is no one more spiritual than the Native American people, they certainly touch a cord in my heart. While I was looking up the circles I ran into this which might interest others earthchanges.ning.com/profiles/blogs/native-elders-reveal-centuries-of-extraterrestrial-contact-lore?xg_source=facebookshare

I'm still leaning towards the idea that it was some kind of a lodge or meeting place that at one time had a cover of some kind over it. I think that is why there was an outlined path that lead from the center circle to the outer one. I am assuming that is where the door or opening was and the path was there so people would not sit or sleep in front of the door. If there was no covering over the thing why would there be a path? Of course, that is assuming the thing even is a path. I'm going to draw a diagram of it later this evening and post it so people can have a better idea of what it looks like. It's kind of hard to tell from the photos.

I did a drawing of the circle so you can get a better idea of what it looked like. The circle was built near the top of a small hill overlooking a warm mineral spring. It was probably about 20 feet in diameter and made up of loose stones that were about 3 to 15 inches in diameter. The edge of the circle on the right was on the uphill side of the circle. The circle itself was almost perfectly level and the ground inside had been smoothed out and cleared of all rocks larger than a small piece of gravel. The inner circles were built up on a gravel base about 2 inches higher than the rest of the ground. The very inner circle was filled with small sticks that were probably brought up from the trees down by the spring. None of the sticks were very large, probably less than an inch in diameter. If they had been put there for a fire it would have burned very quickly. I think it may have been some kind of an animal nest, possibly made by an eagle perhaps. I really don't know.

Sky, One of my favorite past times was going to the mountains to get out of Las Vegas about every weekend we got the chance, when I didnt have to work that is. While hiking through redrock canyon I came along many places where arrowheads would be in abundance. One of the sites I stumbled onto was so awesome and full of artifacts that I knew I must get away from it without disturbing it, knowing it was a place that only archeaologists should study. When I 1st walked up to it there was a round circle but no stones like this. There was a stick stuck in the ground (old and very brittle)in the center which I figure was either a center pole to support the teepee or it may have been where they took and stuck a spear into the ground. There was pottery in the ground , most of it still buried in a circular pit which was probably undisturbed since they fired it, and there were also pieces of pottery which appeared animals had dug up. I looked at a few broken pieces. One of them in particular had running water, trees, and deer painted on it and there was charcoal around the site also which is a good indicator that campfires were used. There were also rocks in the area that they used to help heat up the stones that had a burnt black carbonlike appearance. Most likely, depending on the location of the site in Nevada, it was probably a paiute indian site but not sure. The paiutes were (if my memory of history is right) involved in the mormon massacre which was a big battle at the time . Throughout the redrock/charleston area which is federal reserve is a place called icebox canyon. There are many heiroglyphs there on the canyon walls. I appreciate how the native americans lived, they were awesome and I think its a shame how they were mistreated. Its too bad that we humans today dont live by some of the ways they did, instead weve damaged this land and taken it for granted, and I think now its starting to fight back.

There remains a LOT of energy in those old sites. I know there are lots of areas around where I live (I think we have some 8 local tribes) but the energy I think, comes from the ones they refer to as 'the-ones-who-came-before'. They always talk about them with huge respect..ancestors to the modern tribes I imagine. Those who are 'sensitive' to it have some cool Indian spirit tales to share

No, didn't feel anything. No premonitions or visions or weird feelings or anything. It was just a really cool stone circle as far as I knew.

A good friend of mine for over 20 years (the same one I go metal detecting with) told me he found a site not too far from home out in the middle of nowhere that has indian heiroglyphs spanned for over 20 ft. I cant wait to go out and take pics of this. As far as I know, nobody else knows about these writings and this may be a huge find !! When I eventually do go, ill take pics of them and share on here but itll be awhile because we have to wait for the weather to turn first.

I am looking forward to seeing them. Is this in Missouri? I wasn't aware they had indian petroglyphs in Missouri. i don't know why that would surprise me though since they have them everywhere else. I would love to go see that site you were talking about in Red Rock. I have been to Las Vegas at least a dozen times but have never made it out to Red Rock. I bet it is an awesome place.
