we all know about narrow-minded Mr. Randi. Does Mr. Randi work for our government?
I wish I could hug ufo4peace. I'm sure he would just "push me away". . .

ufo4peace now posts at the Mufon forum under the guise of phillipplaitklasss. Philip Klass (now dead ) was a well known blind debunker. Another one of those who always had the answer before he even knew the question. Steve

Jcurio you need to lighten up. You females are creating a lot of headaches for the admin on this forum. He tells me this forum is like a refuge, Alice In Wonderland, for abductees who can make any claim or tell any silly story they want but doesn't that add to ridicule? Some of the stuff I'm reading here might as well be the National Enquirer. Sometimes it's good to look at what the skeptics have to say. You don't want to be a gullible person who will believe anything making yourself look foolish or being swindled by people who claim to have special abilities. Also instead of banning someone you should maybe just ignore them? on the subject of MUFON the new forum is open to abductions.

Also instead of banning someone you should maybe just ignore them? on the subject of MUFON the new forum is open to abductions. 1) This is NOT the Mufon forum ufo4peace. This is a group of close friends who are sharing our experiences with one another. 2) The National Enquirer does not allow people to print articles in it ridiculing the other articles they print. Other magazines are for that, just like other forums are for that. Alien abductions are a very sensitive subject. People who are victims of it tend to have emotional problems and don't want to talk about their experiences for fear of ridicule by little twits like yourself. Many people who have experienced abductions suffer from the same anxieties and emotional problems as rape victims and war veterans UFO4peace. Why don't you go up to an Iraq veteran and call him names and tell him he's crazy for doing what the government told him what to do... or better yet... why don't you go to a rape victims support group forum online and laugh at the women there and tell them they were never really raped and they just need to get over it and quit talking about it. You are nothing more than an insensitive person who has no concern for the feelings of other people. You are selfish and self-worshiping. We don't mind if you disagree with us, but you insist on resorting to childish insults which is irritating many of the other members. You may continue to disagree with other posts on this forum, but it is necessary for you to keep your comments civil and without using words like "bimbo" "looney bin" and other such things which are unnecessary and are used by you with only the intent to try to hurt the feelings of others. This is what constitutes the things you say as a "personal attack". Personal insults and attacks on other members are NOT permitted on this forum. Please refresh your memory by reading through the Rules and Regulations Thread of TEOR for further details.

"Jcurio you need to lighten up." (from ufo4peace today) Again, that statement is something that could be said to You, ufo4peace. The things that you are labeling as personality traits (in the midst of discussions) are called PROJECTIONS. I am aware that the admin. of this forum would like to have all kinds of "input" from people, other than just the "personal experiences". I (of course) can choose to ignore your "projections", but it did bother me that you decided to come forward (again) when several of us were welcoming a new, possible abductee. These comments are in response to your reaction to my request that you (ufo4peace) be banned. I could have put my request in a PM to the admin. I will fight publicly as necessary. ______________________________________________________________________________ "ufo4peace now posts at the Mufon forum under the guise of phillipplaitklasss." Read more: theedgeofreality.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=psychic&thread=1896&page=1#20714#ixzz1i9Nqs33JWith the risk of incurring wrath, I have to emotionally and intellectually disagree with parts of the above statements. The word: victim. And tend to have emotional problems. The caring "intent" heard behind the above statements, is understood. The comparisons to rape victims and war veterans is not. I have worked with an organization that handles, and actually talked to rape/other abuses victims myself. I know war veterans. Including someone shot during the vietnam war that also has a child that may have been born with difficulties as a result of the veterans' exposure to chemical agents. Honestly, I don't think either of these types of victims will be comparing the way they feel to us, how we feel. IMO, the comparison has to go both ways, to be valid. Validity? I don't talk about my (possible abduction) experiences to people outside a ufo/paranormal forum because there is no place for it in my life. Not because of fear of ridicule. There are people out there who may decide on their own that I am "unfit" to live on my own, have children, feed myself, drive a car, and hold a job. The fact that I am doing all these things, in a normal "setting", AND having weird experiences, gives me validity. The emotional part? I worry too much. I want to prevent (for myself and others) anything uncomfortable both physically and emotionally. This is impossible, and if I don't give this idea up, I will be insane. Until I am "committed" to an institution for my "quirks', I will continue to contribute to and occupy my small area of this life. I mean no one no harm. Can I still harm others? Yes. When I am harmful to myself and others, I can only hope that the "system" holds up its part of the deal, and takes me out. Just as "ridicule" does not define my life, neither does my feelings. That being said, I spend a disproportionate amount of time talking to grade school age children about anger, sorrow, ridicule, and retaliation. Very rarely is our discussion longer than 2 minutes about physical pain. I have a lot more I want to say. But this thread is about psychic abilities. I believe that ONE of our psychic abilities is to will ourselves. By this I mean that I believe that my feelings follow my will. My intent. Not the other way around, which was (is) a human belief of the past. It can be a paradox that is hard to grasp.

What is this nonsense??? NO one here is creating any difficulties for the administration (who is Skywalker by the way). Believe what you want to believe..absolutely do and we will be as tolerant as can be. But do NOT censure or condemn the others here for doing the same. This forum not only allows but encourages those with experiences to share so do NOT presume to speak for the management when he's perfectly capable of doing that himself. It is intolerance of the beliefs and rights of others which cripples humanity. Hope that we ALL have a wonderful New Year

I am OK with alternate opinions and more mainstream skepticism. UFO4peace, if you can provide civil counterpart to the discussions here - I'm good with that.
The truth is elusive in that the governments of the world have invested millions into paranormal research, looking for a battle advantage. Yet most ESP experiments (that we heard about anyway) cannot be replicated. Entangled amoung the claims are people who are no doubt (IMO) attempting to deceive others or even themselves. Entangled amoung accounts of presumed UFO experiences and abductions and contact of the 3rd kind, wrongfully interpreted or fictionalized reports and even outright falsifying no doubt exist (IMO).
To that I say - so what? Let the reader draw his or her own conclusions. Because this topic is (IMO) alot like gold panning. You get a shovel full of creek gravel and throw out all the obvious not-gold stuff. And then swirl and swirl and look and you might find a chunk of gold that stands out - but probably not. But if you continue eliminating the less dense material, in a pan that looked totally unpromising - there at the bottom are the flecks of gold. If one gets impatient and after finding a bit or two of Fool's gold/pyrite dump the pan contents out, one finds no gold. Sometimes it takes many panfuls to get any. Then and only then can a resourceful person file a placer claim, set up a sluice box and handle a large volume of material. We are not doing that here. We are panning. Investigators such as Steve are able to shift through the details of some cases more carefully.
I feel like I am doing that with my own material. Panning. I don't doubt that some of my unexplained experiences are not proof of ET involvement. But, I think, some may well be. They are worth "hanging onto" and comparing with others' reports. I am not in the "proving it to a skeptical audience" business. This is recreational - no book, no speaking tours, no personal gains. Conversations along the river's edge...

You're a good soul Paulette and no one here should be in the 'proving it to others' business. You would not be here if something hadn't drawn you...so it is with us all. We have issues we need to find answers for or issues we need to bounce off of others..and THAT is exactly what this forum is for

The debate about whether or not psychic abilities are real could go hand in hand with the debate about whether or not abductions are really occurring. They seem to coexist with one another since many abductees also report enhanced psychic abilities following their encounter. These abilities may or may not have existed before the abduction event. Psychic abilities are actually a well known aspect of the abduction phenomenon and are acknowledged and accepted by a number of very prominent abduction researchers. Budd Hopkins, David Jacobs, Yvonne smith, Paola Harris and many others routinely include psychic abilities in the many books they write and the lectures that they give. One of the most well-known and respected researchers who believed in psychic abilities was the late John Mack. In his book Passport to the Cosmos he writes, "Some of those humans who have experienced this alternative reality through their abductions, have found a profound shift in the vibrational frequencies of their core. It has altered their world view and increased their psychic abilities. It has made them aware of the importance of their life choices." This is only one reference that Mack made to enhanced psychic abilities following an abduction. In fact, in the book Abduction he mentioned enhanced psychic abilities as one of the symptoms that an abduction had occurred, and he noted it in many of the abductees that he worked with. In case you do not know who John Mack is he is not just some wacko who stumbled in out of the street. He was a professor of Psychiatry at Harvard University and was head of their psychology department. He was also a Pulitzer prize winning writer and the author of many books on the subjects of psychology, history, and alien abductions. After the book Abduction was published Mack's critics and skeptics tried to have his tenure revoked, however after a thorough investigation and examination by Harvard officials his research was determined to be valid and accurate. he was allowed to keep both his tenure and his job until his untimely death due to a car accident. Some of Mack's colleagues also believed in psychic abilities, like Psychiatrist, and former Harvard professor, Dr. Diane Hennacy Powell. In her book The ESP Enigma: The Scientific Case for Psychic Phenomena, she stated the case that all people have some psychic abilities to a certain extent, but that some are more pronounced than others. She also mentioned that psychic abilities could become enhanced following a head trauma. Dr. Powell later went on to serve as the Director of Research at the John E. Mack Foundation. These are just a few of the many well-respected researchers who believe in the existence of psychic abilities, as well as their relation to the abduction phenomenon. I will provide other examples as I find them. Here is a link to an interesting interview that Diane Powell gave for a website called Parapsychology Information Portal.parapsych.info/readarticle.php?article_id=12

FYI. For the person who claimed that UFO Mania is a skeptical forum. Just because you don't believe in aliens doesn't mean you're a skeptic. If you believe that everything including alien abductions is a military conspiracy you are most likely schizophrenic. For skeptic try: www.badastronomy.com/bad/index.html

Thank God I dont have the "abilities" I did as a teenager ! Its NOT something I wanted or asked for, it just happened. I could "prove" the fact that I "know" when a major earthquake (at least a mag.6 or greater) is going to happen within a 48 period, but I will not waste my time with it, and normally do not want to talk about it.
I have pm'd Lois right before 2 or 3 of them happened within about 24-48 hrs. I heard there was one in Japan recently, not sure, but it doesnt surprise me if it did because I "felt" it coming and "knew". It is a feeling of uneasement and pressure that cannot be described with words . I dont like it, and really I dont like talking about it, but I know that this is real ! I know what Lois is feeling is real. She is the first person besides me that Ive ever known to have similar feelings before one happens.
The psychic abilities I had when I was younger has mainly gone away, I cant be happy enough about that. There was a time when I almost knew everything that was going to happen before it happened and I didnt like it a bit. Its not something I would brag about, try to get attention from, or even discuss further than this. It still happens at times, but nothing like it was before.

I apologize if the above post seemed too direct or forward. If anyone noticed, its a subject I have steered clear from because these abilities have crawled under my skin so to speak. I dont blame anyone for not believing, I too had a hard time accepting this .
I kept trying to think rationally that it was just a coincidence, or deja vu (however you spell it), knowing it was something more. It still makes me wonder where ( or who) it is coming from. If it is from "them" , my question is, "what do they want me to do"?
In a spiritual sense, there are "gifts" that people receive. Is that what it is ? I was, and still partially am in denial of this. But I still "know", if that makes any sense.

Makes perfect sense to me Touched. And while I'm on the subject..... Many topics we cover on this forum are, by nature, paranormal OR "Beyond the range of normal experience or scientific explanation" We're lucky to have a forum where we can discuss our beliefs or lack of them without any fear of censorship. There are other forums for that line of thinking. Remember..there isn't proof of or against these paranormal things (including UFO's) other than our own experiences and beliefs. Some of these experiences are incredible enough to have defined some aspect of our personalities and we should not have to 'justify' any belief we have. DON'T. Let others enjoy this forum as it was meant to be...very open minded and tolerant. There are people here who have worked very hard to make it a place of interest. Skepticism is as welcome as belief but not if it challenges individuals. It's just as easy to say..'Cool but that's not something I personally believe and let it go at that'. Trying to convert others to a particular way of thinking can be very offensive. Lets all enjoy this remarkable place together Jo

Well said Jo. ~hugz Cliff~ I picked out a pair of earrings for a customer the other day. She exclaimed, "How did you know that my mother loves that gem???" My response? "I'm psychic." She laughed and said, "I totally believe that!!" I told her, "No, I really am." Her jaw dropped open. "I read tarot and stuff." I said. "Oh! Could you give me a reading on your next day off?! I'll pay you!!" I told her I would do it for free. One of my former bosses called me too and wants a reading as well. I only have one day off this week so... looks like I'm going to be playing psychic lady again... I should buy some candles just to make the experience a bit more... well... cool looking for the people I'm reading.

I believe that many people (as well as animals) feel the vibrations of quakes days before they happen. They just don't know it. The sudden muffling of the inner ear followed by a high pitched squeal is often described by those sensitive. The longer the pitch..the closer the quake is to the person. I think lots of signals go through the body every day but are ignored because we've just become used to feeling them and they don't register as anything. Maybe we need to pay closer attention to ourselves.

Funny, Morgan left the post about UFO Mania being schizophrenic. I posted a topic on MUFON's forum about a abductee meet up site and a lot of the people into alien abduction also share the views expressed here. So you guy's/gals are not alone (no pun intended). I'm still skeptical regarding psychic abilities.

Before one would happen when I lived in California my dogs would start whining and acting disturbed about 24 hrs. before one would happen. I dont have the high pitched squeal you described above. The feelings I get (if I can describe it with words) are uneasement, an inner sense of pressure, tension, and sometimes irritability. I dont have them before every earthquake . From what Ive learned about earthquakes there are (p) primary and (s) secondary types of waves that travel through the earth. I havent checked to see which ones are affecting me. ~hugz~ lorelei and thanks Jc for the update about Japan. I hope they dont go through nothing like what happened in march, or anyother place in the world for that matter. I didnt let Lois know about every one that bothers me, only 2-3 but there have been many more, especially within the last year. As far as "proving", I like the scientific method approach to understand certain phenomena . It may be something I would be willing to do at another time in my life to maybe help the scientific community to understand this phenomena, just not at this time. There is something happening within me and has been for a few weeks now. Im not certain of the origin of it though. I think it may have something to do with the experience that happened about 10 years ago, and the shock of some of the recent sightings which have taken place, I just dont know.

Guy, I don't know what you are trying to pull but if you are going to accuse people of name calling be specific. You better quote me where I called someone a name. Deleting a thread and then accusing me of name calling makes it look like I went off on someone and that isn't good moderating.

It's really funny to see the hypocrisy on these types of forums. It's okay to imply a supposed UFO crash witness is a liar and nitpick the details but you have to be extra careful in what you say about people who claim psychic ability or you'll be accused of name calling. Guess what? There are crooks who prey off of gullible people. You just can't chose what you want to be critical about or you are a sucker. Now I just used the word sucker but noticed I didn't call anyone by name a sucker. That would be name calling. Expect some flak by those who are not willing to drink the kool-aid.
This is why I think a lot of what you see in Ufology is mare akin to religion. It becomes more about faith, what you want to believe, then actual science.

If you're not loony bin then don't let it bother you. Or this one? "I want to ask you to quit analyzing." Analyzing what? Crazy people. Okay, I'm going to another forum where people are less loony because I just like focusing on the UFO and ET subject matter. Or this one? As far as the loony bins people on this forum who claim to have psychic ability that comes and goes when it wants to, see disappearing houses, also disappearing cars on the road, claim global warming is really caused by volcanoes, personal life jibber-jabber, the kardashians or what not. There's no point in continuing this discussion. This homely little forum stinks. Or this one? lorelei, you're just a crazy female that is craving having kids. There are other examples besides these. Most of the posts that you make I don't have any problem with, I just don't want you calling somebody a bimbo or a crazy person, or saying that the people here are fruitcakes or liars or loony bins. There's no need for that. If you don't agree with what people say that's fine...you are entitled to your opinion just like everybody else. There is no need for personal insults though.

We try very hard to be accepting of everyone's beliefs..but ridiculing someone or calling them names (perhaps like bimbo) is just plain rude and offensive and goes way past differences in opinion. There is NO need for that on any forum. It would have been just as easy to say hey gal I don't agree about this and let it go. I guess the point is to insult someone who disagrees with what you believe in? Touched those are the feelings I get in general when something is about to go wrong. The unease..etc. The trouble is..it doesn't usually define itself until I'm in the middle of it LOL Useful trick that

He must have very low self esteem. Most people who bully other people and call them names feel bad about themselves.
He probably hates himself and wants to make himself feel better by putting down others.

It's the 'I don't believe in big foot so you're stupid if you do' syndrome. What we ALL have to realize is that none of the material we have interest in here..has any validation. For UFO's there are eye witness accounts but then people don't want to accept the abduction accounts or any of the accounts that just seem to strange. Just remember Big Foot sightings are eye witness accounts too. Everyone wants their dose of paranormal to fall into neat parameters until something wacky happens to them. A person would have to be an absolute idiot (in my book) to want to be abducted but deep down everyone thinks theirs would be different, that they would be the 'link' to actually be able to communicate with ET and become the hero of the world. And then there are those who can't believe anyone would allow themselves to be abducted so therefore it probably didn't happen, after all..where is their proof? Could these spacey visitors actually be smart enough to be staging all of this? Oh he11 no..we're Eathlings and no one is smarter than we are..right? Wanna bet??? Well...nothing is provable so therefore anything is possible..or prove it isn't. Can't. Any more than it can be proven. So we all need to be tolerant of that which could possibly be even if we don't think it is.

Several avenues being discussed here. All are valid and need to be ironed out. Confident they can.
It is obvious some kind of new ability among abductees seems to be happening. An observer should never discount facts given by witnesses, subjective as they appear to be. Western orthodox science thinks psychic abilities don't exist. Yet there undeniably honestly something has changed in some people after reported abduction experiences in their perceptions of themselves. Maybe a new unknown telepathic 'like' ability has been introduced, or their reality of what can be possible has been so abruptly and unwillingly broadened. The rest of us seemingly left behind who do not grasp it. Maybe they are pre-wired somehow, maybe a implant exists and makes one think they are telepathic.
There are the Uri Geller's out there which science still does not have the answers yet. They just ignore discounting it as magic tricks, or sleep paralysis, hiding the fact they really just are not sure. Scientists always like to think they have answers. I would respect scientists more who are honest enough to admit they do not understand something and would check it out. Geller thought his abilities emerged unexpectedly because of an alien encounter he reported too.
Since something is occurring, and yet 'grant-based' science seems reluctant. Each view point represented should perhaps reconsider what they're expectation of what exactly 'psychic abilities' may mean and what it is supposed to be. A number of persons here have reported something about them has changed. Others too beyond this website. Then what is psychic ability supposed to be like if no one really seems to know what it is, just what they think it is?
In someways we already have an limited ability to read a persons thoughts, if that is the notion. Every parent, psychologist, gigolo & police officer worth their salt can read body language already.
Skeptics don't think abductions occur, don't think psychic abilities exist, and maybe are too afraid to get out of bed in the morning too.
Some skeptics, even those at another website have admitted personally to mutual contacts I know they know they have been abducted. In independent regressions, other experiencers have also confirmed seeing these very same debunkers in the presence of aliens aboard a craft - or some other place - standing along side them! I know this for a fact!
In their denial skeptics do not wish to explore any option except only what is comfortable for them personally in many cases. Then to go outrageously and try to make others who also looking for the same answers by steering them to a conclusion they for whatever reason know is incorrect. They drag everyone else down wishing to prevent others willing to explore or consider other possibilities. In UFO studies, and life in general - never go into anything with your mind made up! Why are you wasting your time then?
Be it psychic abilities, mediums, technology implants masquerading as telepathy, technology enhancing an already pre-existing latent natural organic ability; these are all labels and semantics of something not understood by some afraid to examine. The only wrong in any such discussion is it is all understood and can all be explained away, when we honestly know it is not understood yet.
A few others even think it is all some covert government mind control experiment by the CIA. The CIA likely has more important things to do. No direct evidence suggests this, despite all the groundless rhetoric on the silly Internet. I have asked Budd Hopkins, Jacobs, and others, these questions to simply methodically assess their opinions based on their direct research. They have checked into it, and now laugh at the question. But at least they have checked for any indication in their clients on it at least.
Science has failed to provide adequate answers, and arrogantly many placed in a position by many in society we think they know the answers to everything when they really don't. Good, 'non-grant' based science is supposed to explore such questions. It is also important if such objective studies are ever done, we might have to accept answers some may not necessarily agree with. Especially objective questions both about UFOs, and more...the human mind.
