Bournemouth resident mystified by 'blue sphere shower'27 January 2012 The blue spheres are jelly-like but have no smell and are not stickyA man in Dorset has been left mystified after tiny blue spheres fell from the sky into his garden.Steve Hornsby from Bournemouth said the 3cm diameter balls came raining down late on Thursday afternoon during a hail storm. He found about a dozen of the balls in his garden. He said: "[They're] difficult to pick up, I had to get a spoon and flick them into a jam jar." The Met Office said the jelly-like substance was "not meteorological". Mr Hornsby, a former aircraft engineer, said: "The sky went a really dark yellow colour. "As I walked outside to go to the garage there was an instant hail storm for a few seconds and I thought, 'what's that in the grass'?" 'No smell'Walking around his garden he found many more blue spheres were scattered across the grass. He said: "The have an exterior shell with a softer inner but have no smell, aren't sticky and do not melt." Mr Hornsby said he was keeping the balls in his fridge while he tried to find out what they were. Josie Pegg, an applied science research assistant at Bournemouth University, speculated that the apparently strange phenomena might be "marine invertebrate eggs". "These have been implicated in previous 'strange goo' incidents," she said. "I'd have thought it's a little early for spawning but I suppose we've had a very mild winter. "The transmission of eggs on birds' feet is well documented and I guess if a bird was caught out in a storm this could be the cause." www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-16754531

The only thing scarier than gooey blue balls landing in one's garden is having someone explain that they are invertebrate eggs transported on birds feet. First off - there is nothing in the center of the blue egg except more goo. No dark spot, no half-formed anything. Therefore not = eggs. Second, the largest invertebrate that I know of - giant Pacific octopus has small eggs laid in strings and tends them in a lair. Squids cement their eggs to the bottom. Presumably GIANT SQUIDS do too although no one has ever found one - much less a dozen in their garden in England.
The color reminds me of toilet disinfectant. Maybe UFOs have chemicals in their toilets. If the occupants need toilets.
My money is on military activities which will never be explained or weather modification (which will not be admitted to) or something downright creepy. I hope someone is keeping an eye on Mr. Hornsby and the contents of his freezer. In a friendly way...

Swamp .. where do you get these stories?. Where ever you do, I enjoy reading every one. I hope this guy in England does not get sick. The white stuff that fell in Washington State years back made the people who lived there very sick. No explanation for it was ever found. It came back over the very same location later. Which was highly strange.
Surprise no one else spotted these like his neighbors as if they did not melt ..There would still be evidence of them. So many weird unexplained objects have been falling out of our skies in the past couple of years. Wonder it is all related in some way. This man does live near the ocean.

I would like to know what these consists of. If I were to guess, I would think chlorine possibly, but its only speculation. At times when jets fly over they empty their waste products(toilets) high overhead, or at least they use to. Could this be what that is ?
Strange things have fallen from the skies before . That stuff Lois mentions from Washington state is still a mystery . Fish and apples falling from the sky is another,,,strange ! I can understand how some of it could happen . One thing I have learned from all the experiences Ive been through is to stay open minded and doubt nothing.

My sister who lives in San Rafael Calif was out in her backyard where she has lived for 40 years when she noticed round blobs of blue jell about the size of a pea scattered on the ground. She had no idea what these were and neither did her husband who jokingly called them alien eggs. My sister put some of the blobs in a jar where they shrink to a smaller size and assumed a darker blue color Does anyone have any idea what these blobs are? I am rather paranoid about things as years ago I saw uniformed men in gas masks unloading large gas cylinders from army trucks on tiberon an area along San Francisco bay close to my sisters home. What was so dangerous that they needed the gas masks. Chemical warfare experiments? Perhaps the blobs were dropped as timed release of chemicals as they slowly evaporated.

This site has lots of ideas for you Randy..and one theory I've heard is that it's some kind of 'sanitation' stuff from the lavatory of airliners..other than that...don't have a clue but they would disturb me too

That sounds like Randy xxxx. We had another post on here somewhere about some blueish jelly type egg thingies that fell down from the sky and were scattered all over the place. I think some marine biologist speculated that they might be amphibian eggs that got sucked up out of a pond by a tornado or something.

Auntym . I thought it was common knowledge his last name. It was on his e-mail address on the other forum. If it is Randy, he shares the same ancestors with me. That is why I never forgot it. We discussed it once. Maybe he does not want anyone to know.. I think it is great if it is.

Hi all! It is possible for the 'blue blobs' to have been picked up from somewhere else & carried by wind to wherever they fall to the ground. Here in the UK we sometimes (usually during the summer get a phenomenon known as 'Saharan Rain' (well that's what I know it as - there may be regional variations in name!). In essence this is not actually rain, rather sand that has been blown from the Sahara all of the way to us (and it's a darned nuisance trying to clean your car when it happens - as some of you who may live in more arrid regions can attest to :-D !!!). To me, after seeing that and knowing what it is, I am not surprised at anything being carried by the wind (unless you're talking ridiculous stuff such as cars etc. - which I agree may happen in a very localised area during an exceptionally turbulent period of wind activity). Okay, that's me done for now! Cupboard under the stairs is tidy, got to get the washing out of the machine & then off for the school run in 25 mins !! TTFN! Take care, seek peace and SMILE! Charles :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

There have been many documented stories of fish, frogs and snakes falling from the skies so it isn't impossible for it to be raining little blue ball thingies. The popular idea is that they are sucked up by tornados that pass over water and then carried along with the wind until they get dropped somewhere. I would still like to know what the little blue ball thingies are though. It might be some man-made thing that was dumped out on purpose...or by accident I suppose.

That white stuff that fell in Washington state years ago made many people sick.. also it came back and rained down on the same town again much later. And only this poor town. It struck me very odd. Said it had human tissue in it. That about blow'd my mind away.

Yes it is me returned from the oblivion of the internet. My sister has been very reluctant to talk about the blue blobs of jelly for some reason. While working in the soil of her backyard lately her hands swell up and bleed through the skin. Her doctor really does not know for certain what is going on Being in another state I feel frustrated beyond words that she does not do more. It is like she is avoiding thinking about the subject. I have been rather involved taking care of my wifes health but that is resolving its self for the good. Marin County where my sister lives is full of odd things that happen and no one will do any thing about what so ever

Recently a woman out in the desert came across a mass of purple jelly marbles on the ground. The mass was isolated all in one spot. What they are is uncertain at the time the article on the internet was written reminds me of the blue blobs in my sisters yard.

Well...maybe the unsanitary contents of airliners? I doubt it would be any kind of space ship as they could dump in space rather than disturb the humans with alien waste. That would be pretty disturbing actually. yeeeeeeeeeech

Depends on where you read but none of the suggestions are other worldly. Alien in that it's an oddity. Most often foundThe blue blobs have a simple if aweful explanation. It is usually a result of leaky seals on an older aircraft. The blue blobs are entirely of human origin. Very human origin... The blue blobs are the solution that the "by-products" of the passengers on the aircraft. The seals on the aircraft drain woll occasionally leak and teh material will leak out an run down the side of the aircraft. When too much builds up or the aircraft descends out of the bitterly cold upper atmosphere and it thaws and falls off. Thus, as it thaws and is not water, it passes through a jelly state that it is usually found in. |
Scientific analysis and theoriesOviducts of amphibians regurgitated by predators Fructification of a slime mold. The False Puffball slime mold in its aethalioid jelly phase. Thomas Pennant in the 18th century believed the material to be "something vomited up by birds or animals".[5] Nostoc, (most common scientific belief) a type of fresh water blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) forms spherical colonies made of filaments of cells in a gelatinous sheath. When on the ground, it is ordinarily not seen; but after rainfall it swells up into a conspicuous jellylike mass which is sometimes called star-jelly. Scientists commissioned by the National Geographic Society have carried out tests on samples found in the United States, but have failed to find any DNA in the material. Slime molds are possible causes, appearing suddenly, exhibiting a very gelatinous appearance at first and later changing to a dust-like form which is dispersed by rain and wind. The colours range from a striking pure white as in Enteridium lycoperdon, to pink as in Lycogala epidendrum, to purple, bright yellow, orange, and brown.
