For the past several days I have been delivering loads to the flooded areas in Louisiana and I'm kind of surprised by the lack of response from the federal government. Usually when there is a disaster like this fema gets involved and immediately starts coordinating rescue and relief efforts. This time they didn't even show up until several days after the flooding had occurred and barely even took part in it. I only saw one tiny fema convoy of two trucks the whole time I was down there. All of the initial rescue and relief efforts seemed to be handled by local groups...police, fire departments, EMTs, national guard units, road crews and individual people helping each other. The Feds seem to barely even be involved. Don't know if that's good or bad since they have a tendency to tie everything up with bureaucratic red tape. It's still surprising though.

I didn't see any fema people either. Lots of police cars but no fema trucks. Maybe they were afraid of getting ate up by an alligator.

That sounds to me like stupid government regulations. They come up with rules that hurt people instead of help and it literally takes an act of congress to change them.

Okaaaay!? And they bought the land, it is now government property, and the town is supposed to change the dikes? Since when are ordinary citizens expected to change the formations on government land??? Wouldn't that take some sort of "special permission" in writing, so that no one is jailed or fined for vandalism?? I must be missing something here ( again).

I woke up to a minor earthquake this morning. I was just sitting there minding my own business when the truck started rocking back and forth. I was looking out the windows trying to find out what the heck was going on. Turns out there was a 5.6 quake in northeastern Oklahoma. I was about a hundred miles away in Missouri and I still felt it!

This past week was a busy one. I took some time off work and went to help Casper fix his house. I had to make several trips back and forth from Texas to Louisiana to get all the tools and supplies that we needed so there was quite a bit of driving but I'm used to that. We managed to get the floors fixed and the walls repainted even though mother nature did her best to stop us. It rained for three days in a row when I was down there. I was half expecting it to flood again. The house seems to be ok now though. We got all of the furniture moved back in and sorted out so Casper's girlfriend was able to move back in. She was so grateful to get out of her parents house that she cooked up a nice Cajun feast of smoked-sausage, jambalaya, beer-battered catfish and boudin balls. Boy was it good! That girl may have crazy tastes in boyfriends but she sure knows how to cook. Naturally we washed it all down with a few six-packs of adult beverages. I also tore a muscle in my back. I got up in the morning and ran several miles, lifted weights, then spent several hours working on the house and carrying heavy stuff around...then somehow managed to rip a muscle apart while tying my shoestring of all dumb things. I couldn't believe I did that. Here I am used to lifting hundreds of pounds and I nearly kill myself tying a shoestring that weighs something like a millionth of an ounce or something. What a bonehead. I could barely even breath for two days. Luckily I was able to drink some more adult beverages to kill the pain. On one of my trips back to Texas I stopped in Austin for a comic con that was going on there and met Captain Kirk again. I met him once before up in Dallas and had him sign a Star Trek poster that I had made. This time I got him to sign a drawing that I did of him. I actually got to talk to him a little bit this time. Last time he seemed to be in a hurry so he didn't say much. Here's the picture that I drew. As I was getting ready to leave I heard a familiar song playing in the background that kept saying the words, "Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters!" So naturally I had to go investigate. What I found was a cool little Ghostbusters display with the Cadillac Hearse Ghostbuster-mobile from the new Ghostbusters movie. I got a few pictures taken with it to show Casper. Boy he's gonna go nuts when he sees these! This is one of the six cars they made for the movie. I like the display they have with the inflatable Stay Puft the marshmallow man also. Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters!! Now I have to go find a few cases of moon pies because Caspie is going to kill me when he finds out I didn't take him to the show.

Sky's Next Boat:
This new superyacht looks like a UFO on the waterBy Kimberly Peterson, Architectural Digest September 29, 2016
Glider Yachts If zooming over the waves in a sleek high-end vessel that looks right out of a science-fiction movie is your idea of fun, then London-based firm Glider Yachts has the answer: the Super Sports 18, a futuristic-looking luxury craft that can reach speeds of up to 64 miles per hour.
The high-performance sports day boat—as the company describes it—boasts a striking minimalist design, with an open cockpit with room for five atop a pair of innovative hulls devised to cut smoothly through the water, even at high speeds. The 60-foot-long hand-built boat, powered by four 270-horsepower supercharged engines, is capable of traveling from Monaco to Saint-Tropez or Miami to the Bahamas in just 45 minutes.
“We are absolutely thrilled to finally show off the first Glider to the world,” Glider Yachts managing director Robert McCall said in a statement. “The SS18 is unlike any other yacht seen in the market today, with unparalleled design and technological capabilities—we’re sure she is going to be a real game-changer.”

www.foxnews.com/travel/2016/09/29/this-new-superyacht-looks-like-ufo-on-water.html Just 64 MPH? The concept is not that new. A German Dentist named Engelmann (of all people) came up with an original concept of a hybrid boat in 1938. Leave it to the 'German scientists'. The hull was pinched narrow around the water line where the parasitic drag was its greatest (a high speed submarine is faster underwater than on the surface). The experimental boat was tested secretly in the Baltic in 1940. It attained a speed of over 55 knots (64 MPH). You would think they could do better since then? (maybe if they tossed the fashion models overboard?...lol.) The Germans were looking for a high speed torpedo surface craft like a PT boat that could maintain high speeds in heavy seas penetrating through the waves. Hydrodynamicly brilliant and bold for the time, but only one was built and tested. The new Super Sports 18 looks far more stable with its catamaran twin hulls.

Nice to see you again, Steve. If I ever get enough money to buy one of those crazy things I'll take everybody for a ride and we can see how fast it goes. Of course I would have to make a few modifications to it...like bigger engines, more power, maybe some nitrous...

You went to see the Ghostbusters car and didn't take me with you?? Why didn't you tell me the Ghostbusters car was gonna be there? Were any of the people from the movie there? That would have been so cool! You even got to sit in it!! I would have started it up and took off with it! I would drive it home and park it in the living room of my house so I could look at it every day. That would be sooooo cool! My girlfriend would throw a fit but that's ok. She would get used to it. I want that giant Stay puff the marshmellow man too. I could put him in my bedroom. Man I can't believe you saw the Ghostbusters car. I can't believe you didn't take me there either. That's cool that you took pictures of it. I guess I shouldn't be too mad tho cuz you did help me fix my house and stuff so I I'll go easy on you. It will only take two cases of moon pies to make up for it.

Dude, chill. I didn't know the car was going to be there. If I had I would have taken you. I probably would have had to tie you down to keep you from getting arrested but I still would have taken you.

Day 16 of the new year and my running streak resolution is still intact. I ran a few miles in the rain tonight in Little rock, Arkansas. Not without a little excitement of course. I was running down this dark street minding my own business as usual, when some dog down the street started barking his brains out. Nothing weird about that since dogs always bark when I run, but it turns out he wasn't barking at me. As I got closer I saw this scraggly looking dude with messy hair running around in the middle of the street waving a flashlight at all the passing cars which were all swerving around trying not to hit him. As I got closer he came running towards me, gasping for breath and still waving his little light like it was a light saber. The dude said he had just been jumped by three dudes in a street gang who beat him up and robbed him and stole his wallet and phone and stuff. He wanted to use my phone to call the police. I don't carry a phone when I run but I told the guy I would go get it so I ran a half mile back to the truck, grabbed the phone and ran back. When I finally got back the crazy-haired guy was still running around waving his flashlight at everything in sight. I gave him my phone and he called 911 but as soon as they answered two police cars came screaming up with their sirens blaring, followed by an ambulance and a fire truck! It seems that half the people driving by must have called 911 and reported that some crazy guy was running around in traffic! The dude was gasping for breath and trying to tell the police what happened to him and everybody kept looking at him like he was some kind of a nut. I finally left and went back to running. I don't know if they ever got it sorted out or not. Just another typical day...

I'm thinking about going to this year's UFO festival in Roswell. I've always wanted to go but haven't been able to yet. I bet it would be kind of cool. While I'm there I could check out the UFO museum, maybe chase a few weather balloons, inhale some swamp gas...

I had an interesting day today. The excitement started when I stopped at a truck stop and found a gun lying in the restroom! That's something you don't see every day. I was standing there wondering if I should report it to the police or add it to my ever growing collection when a little bald-headed, bearded dude came running in freaking out and about to have a heart attack because he forgot the gun. Turns out he was the same guy who had held the door open for me when I first walked into the building so I decided to give it back to him. It wasn't a very good one anyway. Now I'm in Oklahoma in the middle of a huge thunderstorm trying to take pictures of the lightning with my cell phone. I managed to get a few that show a bright flash of light in the sky. You can't see the actual lightning bolts though. Cell phones are not the greatest picture takers in the world. I might post some of the photos here if I ever rescue my computer from the truck mechanics who are holding it hostage. Hopefully I won't get zapped before then. I also went to a comic convention in Dallas last weekend and managed to get a bunch of autographs on some more artwork that I did. I even got to meet one of my favorite people...none other than...Luke Skywalker! The real one, like the dude from the movie. I got his autograph too. I didn't get to take any pictures of him but I got a few of other stuff. I'll post some of them when I rescue my puter.

I just got back from a trip to California and Nevada. Saw lots of cool stuff like the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz island, Area 51 and the ET highway. I also went to the Star Trek convention in vegas where I got lots of autographs and some cool photo. It sure would be nice to post some of them here but since photobucket is still being greedy and stupid I'm still not able to post photos. Stupid photobucket.

Morgan,
Are you have to do is create another free email account and then use that email account to create another photo bucket account.

They are trying to force me to pay because I am the admin here and they think I might be making money off of the forum, which I'm not, but they think I am and they want as much money as they can get their greedy little paws on. If I start posting more photos here they will figure out that it's me sooner or later and delete all my photos again. I would rather not do business with those asshats if they are going to do stupid crap like that. I'm still trying to find a better photo hosting service that would allow me to post photos without screwing me around.
