What a WeekI just had a very interesting week. It all started as I was camping out on my dad's land in Lampasas. I have had some really weird experiences out there over the past few years and I just had another one to add the list. I saw what might have been a UFO and as I was looking at it every dog in the area suddenly started howling like a pack of bloodthirsty wolves. They kept it up for several minutes untill the "UFO" was gone. (I'll describe the UFO a little more on a different thread.) The next day I was working on one of my old cars that I keep stored out there and I accidentally stuck my hand in a spider's web. I was picking up an old wheel and tire and as soon I reached underneath it and felt the web I knew my hand was someplace that it definitely should not have been. Luckily I have the reflexes of greased lightning on steroids (especially when it comes to bugs and spiders ) and I jerked my arm out of there so quickly I almost gave myself whiplash. It's a good thing that I did too because inside the spider's nest was a huge black widow just waiting to put the chomps on me! Needless to say it is now a "flat" widow. The next day I headed up to Dallas for my first big race of the season. I had a lot of fun. There is nothing like the ground pounding roar of a high-horsepower racing engine to get your blood pumping in the morning. In between the races they had some exhibition runs made by nitro burning dragsters, nostalgia funny cars and a couple of jet cars (those were extremely cool The jet cars have the equivilant of about 5000 horsepower and fire shooting out the back as they rocket down the quarter mile in less than 6 seconds at close to 300 miles per hour! (My car couldn't go that fast if I shoved it off the top of a mountain. ) Both the jet cars were driven by nice young ladies, one of whom was both an aeronautical engineer and an airline pilot. What an amazing job she must have. After the second day of racing was over and the exhibition cars were running I was sitting in the grandstands minding my own business when they asked for volunteers to take part in the filming of a music video that was being filmed for the Toby Keith Foundation. The video was for some song about a Little Red Solo Cup, which I had never heard of, but nevertheless I somehow managed to find myself "volunteered" to take part in it. (along with about a hundred other people.) I have no idea when the video will be released but I'll definitely be in it somewhere. I'll be the dude holding the red Solo cup (along with about a hundred other people ) What a week! I saw a UFO, got attacked by a black widow, was filmed for a music video, got broiled like a lobster by the sun, and I now smell like burnt rubber and racing gasoline (which I spilled all over my pants ). Man, I'll tell you...It just doesn't get any better than this. ;D

I love that song ! ;D Toby is awesome ! That's so cool that you're gonna be in that video. They already have at least one out but it's cool they're making another. Ufo ? Im gonna go read about it but I can relate to the dogs going crazy cause that's what they did when those orange things showed up. Every dog around including mine were barking and going crazy. I just posted about that again on the orange and red objects thread. Glad you had fun Morgan ! Racing is cool too. I love NASCAR and everything in between when it comes to racing. We have a Lucas Oil Speedway close by and Ive been there a couple of times as well as our local track. Ain't nothing like it !!

Well..except for the spider I'm with ya. I LOVE anything to do with engines and racing cars and planes...big vrooooooooms...yummy. I can't tell if I like flying or not..I fall asleep in the first couple of minutes ;D My husband used to be a long haul driver (shades of you Sky) and sometimes I'd ride along for company..except that I wasn't. The engine would put me to sleep just like a plane does. I do watch Nascar but I'm not sure that guys deserve that much money who can only drive in one direction ;D (kidding). I'm happy you had such a wonderful weekend

Its funny you mentioned Sky the run in with the spider. I rolled the amplifier out yesterday into the living room so I could jam out on the guitar and after awhile went back to the computer and noticed a couple of fang marks on my right hand in between my fingers that was itching a bit. I looked around the area a bit trying to find the culprit and there it was. A black jumping spider ! I let it live though. I keep that one particular kind around the house as "pets" because their good at keeping the population of other insects(other spiders-flies) down . Kelly was killing them for the 1st few years but she grew accustomed to them living here also. You see what I get for being "mr. nice guy" ? Luckily their harmless and usually do not bite unless provoked.

Yea Cliff... we had some spiders in our house last summer because dad accidently left the basement door open overnight anda lot of spiders got into the house... We had a problem with carpet beetles before that... but after all the spiders got into the house the carpet beetles disappeared... ;D Morgan- black widows are scary... one of the many reason I'm glad I live in the arctic... I'm glad you had fun in the sun and all- I can't wait to read about the "UFO" but the fact that you put that in quotation marks makes me think that it wasn't really what you thought it was...

I was on the way to the Women in Ufology UFO Conference in Glen Rose when my pickup decided that it wanted to go visit a repair shop instead. I tried to argue with it but arguing with a machine doesn't usually work very well...especially when the machine is very stubborn like my pickup is. Naturally it won which is why it is now relaxing in the beautifully extravagant interior of a four star garage while I am left in the middle of nowhere without wheels. Being wheel-less sucks. I can't go anywhere, can't do anything...I feel like a teenager having to depend on everybody else to do everything for me. It seems I have been grounded.

Open Minds Closed : Very sad to announce the closing of Open Minds Forum . I like many people here and everywhere else in the ufo community was hoping they would continue and prosper in the right direction. Unfortunately, their account has been terminated by Proboards . Thanks to Spacemaverick for bringing this to our attention a few days ago : openmindsforum.forumotion.com/forum - It's great to see it make a come back and I hope it does well.

The Mystery of the Disappearing MembersTwo months ago TEOR was doing better than we ever had been before. We were averaging 25 members on each day with dozens of posts being made. One day we actually had 27 people on in one 24 hour period. That was a personal record for us...just two months ago. Today we only had eight members log on the forum. That is the lowest number we have had since I first started it 18 months ago. Even the stupid MUFON forum had more members on today than we did. That has never happened before. Where on Earth is everybody? How can we lose 20 people in just two months? I don't get this. It is a true mystery...one that needs to be solved very quickly or the forum is liable to go the way of Ufomania and all of the other failed forums that have ceased to exist within the past couple of years. Not that I would ever pull the plug on it or shut it down or anything. That would never even cross my mind. I'll keep this forum open even if I am the only person here talking to myself like I was in the beginning. It just bugs me, especially since I don't understand why people aren't taking part in it like they used to do. I suppose there are probably a lot of reasons why it is happening. It's summer time so people are probably spending more time outdoors and less time on their computers. Also a lot of people have been very busy lately and just haven't had the time. I think a lot of people are also spending more time on Facebook and other stupid websites like that one. It might also be that there just hasn't been much going on in the world of UFOs lately. I keep looking for interesting stories to pop up but there just hasn'tt been a lot of excitement lately. Perhaps the ETs are taking a break...while they prepare for the big invasion. Maybe I'm just overreacting. I always start to freak out when our numbers drop below a certain level. I suppose it might just be a temporary thing. I certainly hope so anyway. I would hate to be here talking to myself like Stiver and JJ were right before they shut Ufomania down. That would be totally uncool. Don't you think so? skywalker: "Why yes, I do." starkiller: "I think so too!" skywalker: "Who asked you, knucklehead?" starkiller: "Morgan did, that's who, you birdbrain!" skywalker: "Oh, yeah??" starkiller: "Yeah...so take that!" Morgan: "Good grief...we're doomed!"

From what I learned is that in the summer months we will drop for a while ( vacation time ) It should pick up soon . I learned that from the old MUFfIN forum . Don't worry . I'LL be here and I might have to start posting when I get a chance . I have been involved in a project that I can't talk about . Ron

I agree with Ron Morgan. People who have decent jobs are able to take vacation time off... ~sigh~ The last time I was allowed to have a paid vacation (I had it planned out months in advance) my boss told me I could't have it because my co-worker was pregnant and my boss hired a girl who was 8 months pregnant and if I didn't use my vacation leave in the month of December (which was when both of the preggos were to go into labor... which was when I had planned to take it...) the computer would make my vacation leave go away... One of the many many reasons why I don't work there anymore... But... I digress... And- of course since my former boss made the supervisors do all the work (unloading the trucks, stocking the store, doing inventory, mopping the floor and the cashiers just stood there with their fingers up their... yea...) guess who got to do all the work being the only supervisor who wasn't about to pop a baby out? The dairy vendor always liked to come to our store during the lunch rush when there were 20 customers lined up at one cash register. He liked to come in and dump the eggs milk and cheese in the middle of the floor and walk out and leave me there trapped at the register with perishable dairy products sitting in the middle of my floor... ~rolls eyes~ Of course when I called his boss and complained his boss said, "His job is not to stock. Other vendors do that as a courtesy. We are not required to do it." Ah well. I'm done ranting... I don't think I'll ever get another job that offers vacation leave and dental coverage like that one again...

I was sitting in my truck this afternoon writing a big long post about the compass experiment that I recently conducted and I was about halfway through with it when this giant wasp flew in the window and started angrily buzzing around my head. I instantly gave a kamikaze scream and filled the air with karate chops but that just made it buzz faster. Since being stung in the eyeball by a wasp ranks very low on my list of top ten things to accomplish in life I grabbed my ball cap and started lashing it around like it was a fencing sword. In my zeal to defend myself I yanked the window curtain off the hooks, ripped the electronic toll pass off of it's mount, spilled my coke, tore the cover off of my road atlas, knocked my computer onto the floor and just about threw my arm out of the socket. After all of that the wasp ended up splatted all over the windshield but I probably looked worse than it did. What really bummed me out though is that in all of that thrashing about I somehow accidentally hit the delete button on the computer and deleted everything I had written. Now I have to start all over again. Stupid bug.

Sorry you have to start over. I don't mind bugs but cooped up with one, drives me crazy ;D
You just gave me something to think about. I have to erase this image of your ten gallon hat on your head and start seeing some one with a ball cap. ;D ;D

I may have seen a cow mutilation a little while ago. The dead cow was lying in the middle of the median in between the north and southbound lanes of the interstate just north of Kansas City. I wasn't able to stop for very long because there was no place nearby that I could park but it looked like the cow's head was entirely missing. The rest of the body seemed to be intact. I wish I could have gotten a better look at it and been able to take photos but I just didn't have the time. It might possibly have just been hit by a car or truck or something, or maybe somebody dumped it there for some reason. I really don't know but I will be going by there again tomorrow and will see if it is still there.

The "mutilated" cow was gone when I went by again this morning. Either somebody hauled its rotting carcass away or it got up and wondered off by itself. If anybody sees a cow with no head wandering around let me know...

I almost stepped on a snake while I was out jogging last night. I was cruising on down the road when I saw this wiggly looking thing right in front of me. Sure enough, it was a snake. Not just any snake either but a diamond back rattler! A few more steps and I would have stepped right on it. Luckily it was only about ten inches long and as thin as a pencil. It was so small it didn't even have any rattles on its tail but I could tell what it was by the shape of the head and the diamond pattern on its back. It was just a tiny little thing. I would almost even say it was cute...almost. Since it was just lying there minding its own business and not bothering anybody I decided not to squish it so I just watched it until it wiggled off into the grass.

My email account has gone wacko. Every time I try to sign in it says I have to agree to their terms of service so I click on the stupid button and it just comes back up again a few seconds later. I can't get into my stupid email account. Is anybody else having that problem or is it just me?

Problems With The MUFON Forum
The MUFON Forum is going down the drain...or at least that is the way it seems. Over the past several months I have noticed several recurring problems that have been going on over there and they don't seem to be getting fixed because there are no moderators. The admin for the forum hasn't even logged on since April.
The first problem is that some commercial advertisers have decided the forum would be an ideal place to pedal such useless things as ball caps, NFL jerseys, French shaving cream and other ridiculous things, many of which I can't even read because some of the adds aren't even in English. The adds keep popping up and people keep complaining about them but nobody does anything to stop them.
We have had people attempt similar things here but we delete any commercial advertisements that we see as soon as we see them, unless it's something UFO or paranormal related that I think people might be interested in. This isn't the Thrifty Nickel or some other place that people can use to make money. This is a forum about UFOs and paranormal phenomenon...French underwear is not what I would call a paranormal phenomenon. It might be weird but that's not paranormal. MUFON on the other hand doesn't seem to care enough to stop it.
Another recent problem that has cropped up over there is that some hackers have planted viruses and fake Apps all over the place so anybody who visits will very likely get infected with something that will screw up their computer. The past two times I've signed on over there I have had my computer attacked. Luckily my firewall and security system has been able to block the attacks but it is still a pain to have to put up with, and other people might not be so lucky.
I have to warn people to be very careful if you go to the MUFON Forum. It's filled with all kinds of malicious garbage.
I don't know if the people who were running it are just really busy doing other things and haven't been able to invest the time into it, or if they have just given up on it. The forum hasn't been doing as well as they probably hoped it would, possibly because many of the former members of the MUFON forum are no longer there and the new forum just hasn't really caught on. Maybe the admins and the BoD think the thing will just run itself? Who knows? I expect better things from MUFON though.
When people who aren't familiar with UFOs do a search for MUFON one of the first things that will pop up is that forum. If people go there and see something that looks like a total disaster and end up having their computer attacked what are they going to think about MUFON? That forum is MUFON's face to the public. That's what people see when they first go there. They should at least clean it up a little.

I was a former moderator on the old Mufon forum . Since James Carrion gave up his leadership and C Cliff took over ( and up to date ) it all went to hell . As for the Forum I called Morgan Beal and asked him to bump up the posts and make it more friendly . My reply was that he was working on it . That was a few years ago . I haven't seen any improvement at all . I called a couple other people on the board and all I got was that we are trying to solve the problem ( what a trip LOL . ) This forum is more friendly than any other forum I was on . ( Trust me on this )
