Mary & I's book Aliens Answer: A telepathic call results in astounding, beautiful, mind-bending conversations with non-Earth beings' is now on Amazon.com for sale.Mary and I attended a Mufon meeting (Mary encouraged me to go......lol) in my area today and many were excited to see me again and were purchasing copies of the new book. Go to Amazon.co, and type in 'Aliens Answer', and either 'Barr' or 'Reichmuth' and you go directly to it. I know you all have been waiting a long time for this. Me too. I'll autograph your copy it around to do so. lol. Enjoy, and know Aliens Answer 2 is already more than half completed. Will do my best to answer your questions too. Steve www.amazon.com/Aliens-Answer-telepathic-mind-bending-conversations/dp/0989523101/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1382841870&sr=1-1&keywords=aliens+answer%2C+barrNon-fiction: Aliens Answer contains the transcripts of interviews with off-planet beings (aliens). Ms. Barr, certified hypnotherapist and behavioral therapist, placed client Steve Reichmuth under deep hypnotic induction. While in this state, the question was posed, “Are there any non-earth beings who wanted to make contact?” A being came through Steve who described himself as being from Zeta Reticuli. He told us that we could call him “Han.” The initial contact was so intriguing that the therapist prepared detailed, probing questions for ensuing interviews. The questions covered the sociology and science of these beings, as well as history, biology, physics, mysteries of the Universe, and much more. Early in the sessions Han introduced Zestra and Gen. Zestra is his partner and a healer. Gen is in training for making diplomatic contact with various life forms. All three worked together to answer the questions posed by the therapist. The rich answers validate the reality of these off-planet beings. Some physical incidents also helped validate the truth of these contacts. The therapist arranged for testing of this communication by bringing these beings through another individual, a medical doctor. The same bright and engaging being called Han easily came through this second individual, as well as Zestra and Gen. This is an ongoing communication. Readers are invited to submit their questions for these beings to: behavior.therapy@yahoo.com. If appropriate, these questions will be posed during future sessions. Steve . Your book arrived today that sky mailed. Just want to thank you for the nice things you said when signing it. I wanted to see it all at once. I thumbed through it to different chapters reading here and there. But I will start it at the beginning tonight for awhile. Congrats again..

I'm so glad that this book is defined as non-fiction. Not that I think any of it is fiction but putting it out there is strong.
I think a lot of things in other authors "fictional" books are not really fiction. Some description just feel stronger and "right". But then, I have my own bias of believing in what we talk about here (including me).

I am now slowly and carefully reading Steve and Mary's book. I did sit bolt up when I read that Han (and his people) take credit for manufacturing the greys.
The Greys - those who many of us were terrified by. Indifferent at best, thugs at worst. Also pretty much that his folks are the master race (my term) that seeded the Universe with life and moves species around to various planets, modifying them at times (what does an alien fancy apple look like?) So I assume that Han is of those Sitchen called the Annunuki. To think that "our Steve" was talking to one of these guys is mind boogling to me. And troubling. And intreguing. And a whole lot of other emotions...

I have been very busy in the last 24 hours...but I have not forgotten about posting here the latest. If you wish to shift this discussion to another thread...please feel free to do so, so the original topic is not distracted. Myself, and my two other abduction research colleagues I work closely with have arranged at the end of the month to have a very long serious discussion (perhaps over Pizza...[so you see...it IS serious... ] ) with Mr. George Lobuono - author of 'Alien Mind'. All participating are excited (especially George). The purpose is to see if what George outlines in his book can perhaps assist us in our UFO investigations and abduction research. The UFO abduction problem is very complex, and we will be comparing notes. Since one may see only the trunk of the elephant, and another the tail of the elephant to use an analogy. If George is in contact often with ET's supposedly as he outlines in his amazing book, ... can he offer insights into these aliens? Are we asking the right questions to abductees? (both consciously, and during hypnotic regressions). Knowing what we are dealing with better...what can we learn to be more effective helping our experiencers we work with? Does a radical new approach exist? Can we create conditions easier for 'them' in making some kind of contact on their terms? After 60 plus years of western style scientific investigations, we do not seem to be making any real headway. I will fill you in on what is discussed and perhaps learn how to better connect with the various entities perhaps George relates. I know how far out this seems, but what do we have to loose in trying. This approach might offer something unexpected. And have the traditional approaches to the problem been really any more successful? Going where 'Mufonians' fear to tread. At the same time...on another related issue... Seems one of our abduction cases...the one I posted above...is getting even more interesting. Here is the email I received....with permission...and care has been taken to prevent anything in the text that might identify the witness or location.....(sorry)...But at least I can share this much... Follow up questionms over the phone reveals the fence is 8 feet high, and about 6 feet from bedroom window, so if witness was inside adjacent to window...the witness may have been approximately 8 to 10 feet from reported 'entity'. Further questioning revealed this being was completely still, as if 'acting opossum'. When it perhaps sensed it was noticed by the witness, it's head then slowly moved eerily first slightly to the left, then double backing to the right, gazing directly at the witness. It's eyes were not large black slanted stereotypical eyes as seen on the Internet of what we imagine a gray might be like (gee...you don't look a thing like your pictures on the Internet...LOL) - they were large horizontal open slits, like large eye lids...lid on bottom and top of eye area, and I noted to see directly ahead...the being may have had to turn it's entire head slightly interestingly....). Witness is doing a artist rendering now... This is an on going continuing case at present. Me and my colleagues are planning to pay a visit to the witness location soon. Below is the description in the witnesses own words.... Steve I get the "impression" from the book that George L. is also a "client" of Mary's. It's not a bad thing . I reposted this quote above, because it reminds me where Steve's heart is. I'm waiting patiently for someone to discuss "aliens answer" with. And I suggest that anyone reading it be patient with their own reading and response. My first responses were what I expected from myself, and thus I "dog-eared" or marked where I had questions. And I'm not ready to ask Steve these particular questions, but another reader . Honestly, I give this book extra attention because it was written by Steve. Being aquainted with Steve for at least 7 years, should count for some of my opinions. So far, I've come across what Paulette has mentioned here. My friend Sunbow also recently pointed me to the reputation of the "zeta retas", when we were discussing a topic here on Teor. You can read what you want into this, but know that I am trying to stay neutral. As for the grays, so far I'm picking up that there are (2) kinds. One is somewhat automated, a worker-bee-type, and another is a biological type. The references to both overlap at times, so it is confusing, but if this overlap is done purposely, it (IMO) doesn't do a disservice to the topic. Our perception to either type of "gray" is just that : our perception.

I am still picking my way through but I definitely want to discuss this book. I, like jcurio, give it more credence than I might a book I found at a used book store. I value Steve and see him as adhering to the truth as he knows it. Here's the sentence that stopped me in my tracks most recently:
The question was posed (and here I don't know if its Mary's question or Steve's question)
Steve is very receptive for communication. He is also limited, too...In a greater sense, he is part of everything, as are you. I am pleased with the questions you asked. They help explain our motives...
And then Steve/Mary asks, "What can I do in terms of my own beliefs to facilitate that for you?"
[The answer is very interesting to me]. "To continue onyour pathway. You are recptive and a good servant to the needs of facilitating comunication between our species...Take the hope with you that you are creating a beneficial and positive situation."
I find the use of the word servant to be biblical in flavor. It is not about serving food or getting one's hat. It is about surrendering to serving a master, open-heartedly. It is what the God/s of the Old Testiment required. Perhaps the Annunuki required, of people who built giant sky sculptures (the horse in the chalk, the Nazda Lines...)to beg them to return.
No matter how discretely Han couches his interactions, it is perhaps a master/servant relationship. Like checking in with those who need to be kept an eye on, so that they don't stop working or mutiny or uprise. Not that we humans could do any effective uprising against an Intergalactic race! But we might destroy a planet that produces good apples, or biologically interesting specimens to experiment with. This is what I sensed in the dialogues that Steve shared with us as they went along.
I assume that if they could assess Steve's mind - that connections to everyone he knows would be in there too. Like hacking someone's email account. Us particularly though not exclusively.
I'm fascinated by the book and by Steve's part in it. Was he aware of what his mouth said? Did he write out questions - or are they Mary's questions? How much did Steve know about quantum physics and ancient alien interactions with us (Sithchin and Lawrence)? What was Mary's interest in this whole business - it seemed like she was doing recarnation work with clients prior to Steve?

Many people have speculated that human's belief in gods arose because of interactions with extraterrestrial species. It would make sense that the ancient and less technologically inclined people would think of ETs as gods considering what they were capable of. They appeared to people in a beam of light or surrounded by fire...they could fly through the air in wonderful flying machines...they could appear out of thin air, materialize through walls and perform miracles. What else would the ancient people have thought?
There is something else that must be considered also. If these beings do communicate telepathically then they could implant ideas into people's heads...which means that they could manipulate a person's way of thinking, and I would assume that would also apply to feelings and emotions. They could therefor theoretically have manipulated people into worshipping them, or at least feeling subservient to them. What better way to get people to cooperate with an alien agenda than by making people think the aliens were gods? Maybe this is why so many people today still have a tendency to view the aliens as godlike "space-brothers" who are here for the benefit of all mankind. Even when people think of them as aliens rather than gods they still have a tendency to worship them.

So what do you want to discuss, Jc? I'm reading the book also and have written down a few things I want to comment on but haven't gotten around to doing it yet. I recall that I want to discuss several things from pages that I dog-eared as I read. I guess I should have also written down a few things. I have somehow misplaced my book since last Saturday. (and on just checking Paulettes recent posts, was there something about missing items?)

Nah, her (paulette) recent post was about the very unusual finds. . . . I think we have a thread here somewhere that discusses missing items that show up again right where they should be . I'm waiting as patient as possible for my new book to materialize on my night stand next to my bed. . . .

Fascinating - I was writing away here and then left the site (and of course what I wrote was gone). Well...here goes again. I am reading Steve's book carefully and slowly and later will have some exact comments to make about various things. However my general take on this is that it has a curious effect on me. I find that the questions asked are not what I want to know (but I don't exactly know what I want to know). I also find that the answers are very vague (and I don't know how challenging it is to go from alien concept to human.) And there are places that are troublesome because I don't think the answers are true. For example a reference is made to the crystal skulls - and the number 13 was mentioned by Mary. And Han goes on that they are energy concentrating devices or whatever. BUT. Perhaps not all, but some the 13 skulls have been debunked as made recently. I don't know if the debunking is a hoax, some but not all skulls are a hoax, or if Han just answers questions with what he things we believe or if there is a Han. Always my dilemna even when reading the drafts that Steve kindly shared with us. One thing though stood out in the last bits I read. That people are implanted (but by someone other than Han's folks? Or maybe not..) and these implantations augment humankind's natural limited ability to transmit, rather than providing a GPS like tracking and uploading device. I think it was said that the alien interested in a person would have to be within one hundred miles of him or her. Since many of my dreams involve the feeling that I am being sought and the ship swoops lower - just above rooftop, floating silently until it stops over my house...well maybe the tracking is a bit of hunt and seek. If any of my stuff is real, if what Han says has reality, if the book has reality... OK here's another concern. None of the answers to the technical questions seem any more advanced that a layperson well read human could come up with. Nothing out of this world, so to speak. I could make up Han - well no - but some story like this one. And if I did, given my history, would it be pure fiction? Or would it unavoidably contain memories and correct "guesses"? Did Steve ever speak of having contact of the third kind? Why does anyone go to this field of interest who hasn't? Or is it just a phase that humans are in - and is roughly about as real as our current preoccupation with vampires, zombies, etc.

Steve himself has often wondered whether there really is a Han or if the answers are coming from his own subconscious. It is possible that the answers are his own based on knowledge that he has gained over his life. He is a very well educated person, and with the knowledge he has about the military, aviation, science and medicine, plus the research he has done regarding UFOs and aliens it is very possible that he could be guessing at the questions and coming up with accurate (as far as we know anyway) answers. On the other hand, I have to think about our own little group experiments that we do here and the interesting results that we often have. I keep thinking of that one time that JO and I saw the exact same thing during one of them. Something has to be causing that to happen and if it can happen for us perhaps it can also happen for Steve. Perhaps there is some sort of "universal consciousness" that people can somehow tap into that allows us to know things that we should not otherwise be able to know. Maybe the hypnosis that Steve undergoes produces similar results to the "psychic meditation" that we do. Hypnosis is capable of producing an altered consciousness...isn't that basically the same as what the aliens did when they were poking around in our brains and changing the way we think? I've often wondered what would happen if a person with psychic abilities were placed under hypnosis. Would their psychic abilities increase? Would uncluttering the mind of meaningless random thoughts allow a person to have better access to their psychic abilities? Would hypnotizing a person allow them to be able to tune in to telepathic communication? There are all kinds of interesting possibilities about what may be going on. I've always thought that what Steve is doing is an interesting experiment and I think it still is. As for Han giving vague answers to certain questions that seems pretty typical of all ETs. Abductees often report that when asked a question the aliens will give vague meaningless answers or brush the question off...sometimes by answering a question with another question or by saying that people will know the answer when they need to know. It's talking to an alien version of Confucius.

I continued to read - got to the place where Han discusses the fact that Steve had contact as a child. That seemed to ring true to me for sure.
Also another bit - Han mentioned that they (some collective THEY) had been in touch with John Mack, both personally and because so many people have read him and I thought, "Aha!" One of my theories was that Han (if there is a Han - ITIAH)could have tapped into US here on the board via Steve. Surely they tap into groups via one person - or did they individually seek out people who had read John Mack (seems labor intensive and unlikely).
So here was a question I wish Steve had asked on our behalf, "Are many of the people at TEOR contactees?" Do they (Han's folks ITIAH) run into many humans that THINK they were abducted - and weren't? Or is a case of misremembered time or circumstance when things don't quite add up? Or can a person fail a lie detector test that disproves that they were contacted and still be a contactee? I personally think that might be possible - just as people can PASS a lie detector test if they have convinced themselves of some reality (like being hypnotized) that didn't happen.
Just more Paulette musings.

Oh my, reading all this. So many questions. I don't know how to answer.
Some of the answers are rather general by Han and Zestra and Gen. He stated somewhere I recall his answers in some cases would be specific, and others tactful and not revealing quite so much. Han at other times was deliberately non-specific. Some answers providing only a general direction.
97 -98% of the questions in the book (and the coming second book continuing the transcripts) are from Mary. Some were provided by a college physics teacher and a medical physician. A few were from me. These questions are submitted before the sessions. I remember one of my questions was simply "do you have any questions for us?"
I never know the questions before a hypnotic session starts. The other persons that Han has come though talking with Mary - have not been aware of my sessions. Also I was unaware of their communications with Han too till after the books were published. This was part of the experiment. The same personality came through known as Han through these other individuals too according to Mary. Later, I was present at a session in which Mary inducted one Han communicator. They were unaware of my sessions. It seemed like the same personality who ever Han was......I recognized the same relaxed lucid conversations and personality.
I have a vague notion of Quantum mechanics and theory. Also know very little about gravity theory's.
I met one book reviewer and he was granted permission to observe a hypnosis session with me and Mary. He expresses many interesting reactions to our book which you can read his review below. His review was written and posted before he observed one of our sessions to his astonishment. That session Randall witnessed was transcribed too. Everything is. Randall was amazed by Han addressing him personally by name. During the session, Randall also asked some very advanced physics questions which apparently Han answered to his satisfaction. Who ever was answering, it was not me and my fair extent of scientific knowledge.
Randall wrote:
Over the years, I have become bored and skeptical reading accounts of people channeling ET's (or others) via hypnosis. There is just too much room for subjectivity and imagination that usually is revealed at some point in time. This is not the case with this book.
Aliens Answer is recommended due to the high quality of the answers and range of discussion subjects. My second reading of the book only confirmed this opinion as the information is deep and very considerate. It pressed the limits of my professional knowledge (astrophysics and electrical engineering) with original and innovative explanations on technical subjects and the ecology of the ET's. The authors have done their homework in querying a wide range of subjects - many very cutting edge. The entity (Han) to me sounds authentic and compassionate in ways that you have to read to appreciate. I like that he admits when he doesn't know something or it remains a mystery.
I'm told a second book will be forthcoming and I look forward to its release. The answers given in the first book significantly helped me to fill in the blanks and confirm that off-world ET's are interested in helping (saving?) our planet and species. For example, they would intercede in the event of a nuclear war. Moreover, Han tellingly describes animal and human mutilations as criminal and illegal, being perpetrated by a selfish species that looks contemptuously upon Earthlings as primitive and warlike. He states that, 'The greatest advantage these criminal entities have is the great disbelief that Earth-centered humans maintain and their refusal to accept that these events occur.' For those with a science interest, his answers might stretch the boundaries of your theoretical thinking as it did for me. For example, 'gravity waves provide for faster than light travel' - 'dark matter is a river between dimensions' - 'There is a black hole in each galaxy, holding the galaxy structure in place', and so on. For those concerned with abduction there are special observations - 'It is difficult to communicate with them (the abductee) when their minds are, in effect, screaming' - 'There is a particular genetic lineage that this social unit possesses that is of interest.' - 'Our minds, through thoughts, connect directly through controls in our craft.' Han freely admits that his species performs their own abductions and experiments - though with minimal physical and emotional trauma.
This is a book that is hard to put down, yet it is so 'heavy' (to use a 60's term), that the readings must be broken up to be fully appreciated. I would like to personally witness a hypnosis session yet am told that Steve's answers come forth rapidly and lucidly. No one can possibly make this stuff up. It's thrilling to believe that we are listening to an original source that one can trust.
I would not recommend this book if I had the slightest doubt in its veracity.
I often read my book again, astonished at many of the answers coming out of my mouth during these sessions. During these sessions, I am aware of conversations going on between Han and Mary. I am like a person during these session sitting quietly somewhere listening to the conversations in a third person fashion. This is part of the dynamics Mary sets up in the hypnosis sessions.
The words flow lucidly and freely from me. The main benefit I have in these sessions Mary does not benefit from are the images Han may place in my mind describing another planet or location in space for instance. I was able to describe Hans home for instance quite well.
Recently in a talk, a abduction expert and therapist I am becoming more acquainted with happily asked if I could describe any smells from Han. I could not I replied. I was aware of the smells abductees have reported and do not confide these. Being test questions. She seemed disappointed I could not answer. I said I did not know because Mary did not ask me under hypnosis what smells I could sense, or perhaps Han was masking them? Perhaps Han was concerned it might be unpleasant? It might be that Mary simply did not ask the question how he smelled. I know the experience touching his hand was a moving one, but one that didn't effect me till after I was brought out of the session when I began to think about it. It was afterward a feeling of awe and wondering again if this was all real.
The text of the book has very few if any edits. If there were any, it was to make a sentence more understandable. So any leading questions by Mary (if any) would be evident in the book.
Pauline's questions about Han being a servant I can perhaps answer completely based on the emotions and intent I felt from Han during the sessions when he said those words. It was nothing biblical, social or any master /servant relationship. Her comments and questions actually surprised me you thought this way. Han has stated to Mary, our communication in each session is greatly slowed down so I can talk to Mary what apparently is being sent to her through me. Also, Han taking a servant 'like' attitude is out of simple politeness. No stated or implied Geo-political biblical anything. No hints or deceptions apparent. Han was simply being 'nice'. LOL. Much like socially, a Japanese man, woman or child would bow as a courtesy. My feelings during those sessions in which this servant attitude was expressed - was nothing more than what is simply reads. No need to 'over think' this part at least.
One thing I am beginning to notice and maybe a problem that exists among many in the UFO community (Mufon, investigators authors/so called experts) is they want the phenomenon (these apparent off world beings) to conform to our own human per-conceived ideas, not theirs, or to what they might actually be like.
I believe our experiment was so successful in what ever it is we have found because: Mary is the perfect person with her extensive background to pose the most insightful questions. The other is myself, you need a certain attitude and be motive free going into these sessions to be receptive & open to what ever it is that is coming in. I would never regard our sessions as 'channeling' because they are not. We are not in contact with 'spirits'. I see myself humbly surprisingly like some sort of 'remote viewer'.
If one is to approach this remote viewing experiment (which has been so successful), to reproduce this experiment by others - those engaged must be the humble ‘student’, not the teacher. We need to listen, since these off world entities have so graciously replied to our invitation.
I did not have Mary ask Han any Mufon questions for instance or any questions related to TEOR members here. I felt they might be either inappropriate or felt it was not my place to ask without permissions first. If any 'cases' were mentioned, it was in the book with the written permission of the experiencers. Only in one case are the true names of one couple mentioned with their written permission. The rest of the cases mention are with written permission to discuss their cases using their names in pseudonyms.
Maybe my contribution came at the very beginning, ‘why don’t we simply call out and ask them?’
Unlike my UFO maps, many supposed investigators don’t seem to think outside the box. I seem to be a radical among some people already exploring the unconventional ...going another direction because it was very obvious to me their established ways were not working.
Part of my reason originally for asking Mary to hypnotize me were all the accounts I have read that have surfaced from so called government remote viewers and NSA ‘Intuitive Communicators’ about unexpectedly making ‘alien contact’. It seems those who have at least commented publicly – all have had such contacts amazingly. I wondered, would ‘they’ perhaps talk to us too?
I would never consider myself 'telepathic'. Whatever I relate is only possible once I am hypnotized, where the mind is relaxed and very focused. Mary says I have a gift of describing in great visual detail. I am very detail oriented in my life in general. Mary says I am a 'high resolution camera'.
Post specific brief questions and I will attempt to answer them for you. I will be here more now I see many here have questions. I will answer them as completely as I can for you. I can often tell you the intent or feeling I had when some of Hans comments in the book were expressed.
Steve

Thank you for clarifying your experiences and of the one above in particular. I guess I am curious about how an individual representing an intergalactic anciet race would perceive the balance of power between us and them. If Han's folk were the Annunuki of the ancient Sumerian texts, they're been shaping us for a long time. They may have even planted life on this planet, or at least shaped it as well. They have been Gods to earlier humans due to their powers and technologies. And visible presence!
I'm really glad you are part of these musings here Steve. I certainly mean you and Mary no disrespect (even in my skepticism at times). This just might be "the real deal". I resonate with many small parts of the book, including your childhood experiences. They do not exactly replicate mine, but rather my children's! They had an "imaginary friend" Filim for years. On questioning, Filim was not a dog, not a person...they couldn't say who Filim was except that he or she was there to play with them when they went outside (They did not play with Filim inside the house.) I of course, saw nothing. Or I saw two kids, running around in a tight pattern (with an invisible third) laughing and talking.
I have to say, things I pay close attention to, receive my scrutiny. Things I dismiss easily do not. Please accept my slow reading of the book and comments as appreciation that this is all worth pondering.

One thing that I have already "felt", and was "confirmed" by Han, was something that maybe others have "felt", but do not want to talk about, or make much about it. It is my overwhelming comfortableness with Mary. It started with simply looking at her picture. Very rarely have I had this "feeling": kind of like "I should know this person", in the context of not just a desire to get to know this person because they (he or she) are worth knowing, but more like "I should remember knowing this person, because we have chatted before". Yet, deep down inside myself I am aware that we (Mary and I) have never actually met. It is a bizarre feeling. But as I said, one confirmed by Han in the book as a "wish" bestowed upon her, that I read about after my feeling (and not the result of some "mystical" suggestion). . ***************************************** I agree with the comments from Randall. I am astonished at my own "gut reactions" to this book. Before I get into my discussions on "Aliens Answer", because as Randall said, it is very "deep", and worth reading more than once, there are some "guidelines" that I go by. Number one, I acknowledge that humans are observable as simplified beings. In other words, an individual could be watched for weeks at a time, and there would be predictable personality/character traits, just from watching that individuals' actions and responses to actions happening around them. Number two, Han is able to convey the benefits of everyone becoming telepathic. Pondering this, I see great tragedy for humans when this first takes place, as people will express hate and murderous intent in their thoughts, and some people will react to this in a magnified setting. But our thoughts will have to change, and the results do not have to be boring, or of one mind totality. Number three, it does me "no good" to question the setting of this contact with Han. I have to decide that outside the human race, there is "other". Whether this is a religious aspect for some, it is not the same as going to church every week, going through the motions of "worship", yet putting off "other" as some universal "Being" that is unattainable, or values human freedom so much that there is little evidence of intrusion into our daily lives. If I am to go into the concept of being "watched" by Other, even by a technological means, there are (obvious) reasons why this Other would not feel omnipresent. My point of view is limited by my concept of "what would I do" if I was the Watcher, or part of a group of Observers (esp. with telepathy). My point of concept would also definitely change, should I become more telepathic . So, I have to throw away my belief system, and possibly get a new one. What it boils down to, for me, is questioning what I expect to happen in the worst case scenario of a possible life or death circumstance. Say, I'm lost in the wilderness by myself for a week. I have a gun, and plenty of ammunition for protecting myself or possibly shooting game. I have warm clothing and I can see where the sun rises and sets, and have an idea about the night sky. If I find a stream, I can follow it, etc. So, my ultimate goal is finding my way back to civilization, to oversimplify the situation. Ok, in this scenario, and all its heightened emotions, lack of sleep, water, and food, do I expect some "Other" being, or what have you, to show itself and either encourage me or outright help me out of the forest? Would I make it out (to help and civilization) supposedly entirely by my own wits, but afterwards look back at my adventure and see where some "Other" slightly guided me, or kept me from falling down a cliff? Or would I make it out, and see nothing "special" about my trip other than it wasn't "my time to die" or I got lucky? And, in the back of my mind, I have a mental picture of the instance where we know a man "sawed" off his own hand to escape a wilderness trap (shiver). Without trying out this theory, I know that I expect some "Other" to somehow make itself known. Even if its to comfort me while dying. How then can I possibly reject this "Other" that Steve has met, just because it doesn't fit my life or death event?

Interesting comments jcurio. Yes, I agree that people can be classified as either believing in an "Other" that is more knowing and more powerful than we are and which might intervene in our destinies (both over history and as an individual)...Or not believe.
And the word "believe" itself is problematic as I type it - I generally reserve "believe" to mean things without proof; that are currently unproveable but our scientific methods. I'm not at all sure that the UFO and visitor phemenona fall into that catagory although proof in the hand is hard to come by. I personally "believe" that it is removed when it does fall into an earth person's hand - either by human government agencies or extra terrestrial ones. Or both. I don't think there's hard proof of that except that a hell of a lot of samples and original film and such disappears never to seen again. Like the stuff gathered at Rosewell.
So what left as proof is largely anecdotal. This term is often used scornfully. But we accept it in our courts of law. If I testify that I saw my neighbor stab his wife and I report that. And no body is found (but the wife is gone). Unless someone can prove that I wasn't there, or that I couldn't see what I saw due to positioning, or if I was unreliable (stoned, drunk) then that guy will probably be charged with the crime. We have a case pending here in Canada - a man known to the family is being held for killing the grandparents and child. It was discovered that he and the grandfather were in a fight over a patent. His truck was seen at the house and then they were gone. The RCMP are still digging and dredging ponds. Depending on how clever and determined he was - they may or may not find the bodies. But anecdotal evidence is often enough. He is charged with three counts of murder at present.
Sometimes I belive in Other (and have experiences that suggest it is so and also that its is helpful). Sometimes I do not. Sometimes I believe both contradictions at once!
Not in this field of study however. Even though there is historical evidence of the arrival of OTHERS who could fly in air, blow things up, arrive in a beam of light (and take humans with them), etc etc. And many many currents reports by people who seemed to have little to achieve by reporting them (there was a post for law enforcement officers - it started in Australia) who had reported UFO sightings or weird events and had lost their jobs. Talk about negative reinforcement to report. Ditto commerical and military pilots.

--------
One thing I am beginning to notice and maybe a problem that exists among many in the UFO community (Mufon, investigators authors/so called experts) is they want the phenomenon (these apparent off world beings) to conform to our own human per-conceived ideas, not theirs, or to what they might actually be like.
From the first book,,,,,,,this is very interesting Steve !
