Same Halloween as before. Nothing exciting. Some witches would have been nice, boiling caldron of who knows what as well. A "ghost or two", just kinds floating around, maybe more, say 10 max. Earth spirits chasing "kids" paid to come by and get chased off, etc. A witch being burned at the stake, fake witch, fake fire, Assorted werewolves, vampires, "Frankenstein" monsters. Did enjoy the tv movies, good selection, of horror, the classics. Modern, nudity and gore, now that is a winning combination about midnight. :)Am ready for Christmas. Am trying to get a real life nativity set up but no animals this year. Learned that lesson from last year. As for finding a "virgin", to play the female lead role, gave up on that sometime back. Just KIDDDING. Oh well, off to get a soda, come back and see what else has been posted.

rt.com/news/195188-solar-flare-sun-nasa/#.VDn58pdSo6Q.twitter Space jack-o’-lantern! Amazing images of ‘The Pumpkin Sun’ revealed by NASAPublished time: October 11, 2014 NASA has released a photo of the sun from October 8, where its active regions combined to make it look like a Halloween pumpkin or a jack-o’-lantern. That is a pleasant bonus for stargazers who enjoyed a spectacular “Blood Moon” on the same day. To achieve the stunning jack-o’-lantern effect they have made a blend of two separate wavelengths - 171 and 193 angstrom light, which are usually gold and yellow in color. According to NASA, extreme ultraviolet light of 171 angstroms shows the sun’s atmosphere, also known as the corona, when it is quiet and also shows huge magnetic arcs known as coronal loops. Light of 193 angstroms shows a hotter region of the sun’s atmosphere and the much hotter material of solar flares. Specialized instruments are used by NASA to observe light not visible to the naked eye. “The active regions appear brighter because those are areas that emit more light and energy – markers of an intense and complex set of magnetic fields hovering in the sun’s atmosphere, the corona,” NASA said in a statement. The photos show what are storms and flares on the surface of the sun. But although the jack-o’-lantern sun is good news for star gazers and early trick-or-treaters, its bad news for a host of other people as solar flares can damage satellites and even threaten airliners by disturbing the earth’s magnetic field. Very large solar flares can even knock out energy supplies by creating currents within electricity grids. NASA has a number of other stunning images of the Pumpkin Sun in different wavelengths. sites.google.com/site/paranormalzonex/evidence/the-history-of-halloweenThe History of HalloweenRoots in the Celtic Festival of Samhain and the Christian Holiday All Saints' Day Published on Mar 26, 2014 Halloween or Hallowe'en (/ˌhæləˈwiːn, -oʊˈiːn, ˌhɑːl-/; a contraction of "All Hallows' Evening") also known as All Hallows' Eve, is a yearly celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. It initiates the triduum of Hallowmas, the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed believers. According to many academic scholars, All Hallows' Eve is a Christianized feast initially influenced by Celtic harvest festivals, with possible pagan roots, particularly the Gaelic Samhain Other academic scholars maintain that it originated independently of Samhain and has solely Christian roots. Typical festive Halloween activities include trick-or-treating (or the related "guising"), attending costume parties, decorating, carving pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns, lighting bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted attractions, playing pranks, telling scary stories, and watching horror films. Because many Western Christian denominations encourage, although no longer require, abstinence from meat on All Hallows' Eve, the tradition of eating certain vegetarian foods for this vigil day developed, including the consumption of apples, colcannon, cider, potato pancakes, and soul cakes.

I looked up colcannon recently and made some. One boils or steams some potatoes and lightly cooks some cabbage or kale so that it still has body to it. The potatoes are mashed (but not whipped into goo) and then finely cut up cabbage or kale added - with the usual butter, a little milk or cream...I'll look up soul cakes next.

You’ve Been Warned. For a few years as a kid I lived in a haunted house, so I know good and well how bumps in the night can keep you up and make your heart race. While ghosts and old curses are often whispered about, we have yet to uncover ‘scientific proof’ that hauntings are an indisputable fact. Still, how can you deny all of the proof in human testimonials and strange, unexplained occurrences? In the above image, you are looking at Helltown, Ohio. A large area of land here purchased by the government with plans to make it into a park, instead the land remains abandoned. Today with its collection of falling down homes and a local cemetary, it is known as Ohio’s most supernatural town. There are numerous legends about satanic cults that gather here, and children that haunt the woods. No matter if you are a believer in hauntings or not, these 20 places are real, real scary! They are supposedly going to be making a new one which will have women as the ghostbusters. From what I have read it sounds like it will be a remake of the original movie probably followed by a bunch of sequels which is pretty much standard formula for Hollywood nowadays.

The reason it didn't transfer is because a lot of times when you copy and paste things you somehow accidentally leave off the very first letter. There's supposed to be an h at the very beginning before the ttps. The next time you try doing it just check to see that the first letter is still there when you post it. If it's not you can just edit it and add it back on and it will work. I fixed it for you in your post.

One was when they asked "Where do these stairs go?" and Bill Murray replied, "They go up." My favorite quote was when Winston said, "Ray, when somebody asks if you are a god you say yes!"

ufodigest.com/article/I-love-halloween-1027WHY I LOVE HALLOWEENBy Chris Holly October 27, 2014 My love for Halloween does not stem from any affiliation with or connection to anything other than my childhood and the memories of running around my little town dressed from head to toe in costume trick or treating with all the other kids in town. I grew up in a small town along a sleepy river on the coast of Long Island New York. My town was and still does look like a typical New England town. It is in the country and in appearance seems much more like Connecticut or New Hampshire or upstate New York. It was not and still is a sparsely populated hamlet where kids ran free and life was simply wonderful for a kid who loves Halloween. When I was a chile we could be out at night wandering around in groups with a parent or two tagging along here or there as we went trick or treating at every single door in town until our bags were filled to the brim with candy and goodies provided by the good people of my town. I grew up loving this tradition as it not only was great fun ,it was filled with bowls of sweets that would last for weeks after that one days haul of trick or treating. Halloween was a time when the trees were full of color and gently falling to the ground as the air turned cold and brisk making the night of Halloween chilling as well as thrilling and the beginning of the holiday season . Soon it would be Thanksgiving followed by the Christmas season and life was filled with family, fun and love. I had a childhood filled with family tradition which I have continued all through my life. I still love Halloween and look forward to what follows as we leave the summer sun behind and travel in to a time of family tradition and fun. I have two memories of my childhood that involve the day of Halloween that have stayed with me my entire life. One is a wonderful experience and the other actually is horrid in nature and was terrifying for a bunch of 12 and 13 year old's. Strangely both included old large mansions where rich old ladies lived during the late 1950’s and early 1960’s along the banks of the river in the town where I grew up. I will start with the horrible event. It happened in the early 60s when I was in the last years of being young enough to still trick or treat. I was an older kid at the time maybe 12 or 13 and this was one of the last times I ventured out as a youth to run wild on a dark and scary Halloween night. I was with a group of kids my own age. I remember clearly that it was dark and cold that particular Halloween night. Along the river bank at the end of the town where only a few houses remained stood a very old dilapidated mansion that everyone called the ‘Old Crazy Witch’s House’. Everyone was afraid of the old woman who still remained living in the dark falling apart house. Sometimes when you drove by at night you could catch a glimpse of her sitting in a rocking chair on the third floor of the creepy old house in a big bow window overlooking the town. It was said she lived there with an insane son who never was seen but was said to crawl about the town in the wee hours of the night as the rest of the town’s people were fast asleep. The house was scary, the stories about the family were frightening and I always did my best to stay far away from the place until this one Halloween night. There were rumors around town that behind the house way down on the water’s edge where the river met the mansions old dock stood a falling down old shed that was filled with monstrous things so awful that those who saw them vowed never to speak of them once they encountered the horrors beyond the sheds old doors. www.delawareonline.com/story/life/did-you-know/2014/10/28/did-you-know-all-about-zombies/18026017/ ALL ABOUT ZOMBIES: HALLOWEEN SPECIAL Molly Murray, The News Journal October 28, 2014 (Photo: Dan Garrow/News Journal illustration) The undead are to pop culture what candy is to Halloween: A satisfying antidote to reality It's a scary, uncertain world: Ebola, ISIS, road rage and home invasions. No wonder we find comfort in zombies, ghosts and creatures of the night. Zombies represent "the downfall of civilization," said Brendan Riley, an associate professor of English at Columbia College of Chicago, who teaches an intensive, three-week winter session course that covers the evolution of zombies in film. "We see society falling apart ... I find that pretty chilling." Yet zombie fear is fleeting. We know – or are pretty sure – the nondead aren't real. The same isn't true for ghosts. A 2009 Pew Research Center survey found nearly one-in-five adults say they've either seen or been in the presence of a ghost. And 29 percent reported they have been in touch with someone who has died. The stories Rick Coherd, ghost-hunter and founder and CEO of Delmarva Historic Haunts, tells are of voices picked up on electronic voice phenomenon tape; of electromagnetic field disturbances that go off the charts and shapes that show up on film. The science of ghost hunting does lend it credibility, to a point, said Paul Brewer, professor of communications at the University of Delaware. Brewer, a big fan of the movie "Ghostbusters," when growing up, was interested in the popularity of paranormal reality shows on television. He wondered what made people believe – or disbelieve – what they watched, so he asked people to read one of four versions of a paranormal news story. "It wasn't just any story about paranormal investigators that made people believe in ghosts and haunted houses," Brewer said. "It was a story about how they were scientific." One article quoted a professor who questioned the science that was used. The group that read that article was less likely to believe. ufodigest.com/article/et-vampires-1027 THE ET VAMPIRES ARE OUT TONIGHT PART 1By Brad Steiger October 28, 2014 Deb, who has a great deal of psychic ability and is very much aware of her angelic guidance, has written to me many times since she heard me on a radio program discussing “spirit mimics,” or “alien lifeforms masquerading as humans.” Somehow, she writes, trying to explain how she has been able to view such entities, “they seem drawn to my 'inner light’.” “Often,” Deb says, slightly bemused, “the beings get irritated that I notice them, and they want to let me know it. By the way, I don't smoke or drink, and during all the experiences that I have had, I was very aware.” Deb has generously taken the time to share a number of experiences in which she was able to detect the “ETs or whoever or whatever they are,” but a recent encounter in Croatia stands out for many significant reasons. As Deb tells it: I was in Hvar, Croatia with my husband, my daughter, and my husband’s parents walking through the city. I love to look around and study people. On this particular evening at around 7:00, I was scanning the crowds of at restaurants when I saw five females with heavy make-up on sitting at a table. Their ages ranged from perhaps 27 to 35. I locked eyes with one of them. I turned away and made a comment to my husband, "Whew, the vampires are out tonight!” I said it just to be funny. On the surface, I just thought they were a group of women friends enjoying a social night out. Later when we returned home, I was taking a nap with my daughter and received this message from my Angels…my Higher self? I realized: 1. All the women looked alike except for different hair-styles-- short, long, fuzzy, curly, etc. They all had very, very platinum blond hair-- almost white. One wore her hair long, straight down the back. Another had a bob, curly-frizzy shoulder length hair. They all had kind of out-dated hairstyles. 2. All had odd clothing, all black or dark-colored, long sleeved, long skirts, boots. None of them had the proper kind end of summer clothing for a tropical island resort. 3. They all had wide eyes, thin noses, small lips. They had very white skin, and they had applied theatrical dark kohl eye-makeup so black and ringed around their eyes that it looked clownish. Later, when I thought about it more, I realized that the one with whom I had locked eyes didn't necessarily have dark make-up on eyes. It seemed, rather that her eye sockets were deeply embedded in her skull and only appeared shadowy? Maybe they sent a “screen memory” that they were wearing make-up. 4. All five women sat up, straight, rigid, in their high backed chairs. They appeared to be observing the crowd, looking in all different directions, when I walked by. The two facing me looked in my direction at the same time, oddly cocking their head to the side, like a dog does when it is confused. I locked eyes with the one to the right. www.unknowncountry.com/news/halloween-week-unknown-country-why-we-should-still-be-creatures-night Halloween Week on Unknown Country: Why We Should Still Be Creatures of the NightThursday, October 30, 2014 Halloween, the time when we lure strangely-clad strangers to our homes by lighting lanterns in our windows, and offering them food and welcome at our doors. This tradition is firmly associated with the celebration of ghosties and ghoulies and long-legged beasties and things that go bump in the night, but does it also fulfil some deep-rooted need in us to just go forth into the darkness of a night lit only by lanterns? Fire is fast becoming an elusive element in our lives, yet for our ancestors it was a vital part of their existence. After human ancestors controlled fire 400,000 to 1 million years ago, flames not only let them cook food and fend off predators, but also extended their day. A University of Utah study of Africa’s Kalahari Bushmen suggests that stories told over firelight helped human culture and thought evolve by reinforcing social traditions, promoting harmony and equality, and sparking the imagination to envision a broad sense of community, both with distant people and the spirit world. Researchers previously studied how cooking affected diets and anatomy, but “little is known about how important the extended day was for igniting the embers of culture and society,” anthropology professor Polly Wiessner writes in a study published online today in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. “There is something about fire in the middle of the darkness that bonds, mellows and also excites people. It’s intimate,” says Wiessner, who has studied the Bushmen for 40 years. “Night-time around a fire is universally time for bonding, for telling social information, for entertaining, for a lot of shared emotions.” Wiessner’s study, which she calls “exploratory,” analyzed scores of daytime and firelight conversations among !Kung Bushmen – also known as Ju/’hoansi Bushmen – some 4,000 of which now live in the Kalahari Desert of northeast Namibia and northwest Botswana. (The exclamation, slash and apostrophe symbols represent click sounds in their language.) They are among several groups of Kalahari Bushmen. ufodigest.com/article/war-worlds-1031
THE “WAR OF THE WORLDS” TRANSMISSION REMEMBERED IN ECUADORBy Scott Corrales October 31, 2014 Every October 30th, UFO and science fiction enthusiasts alike remember Orson Welles' history-making broadcast of H.G. Wells's War of the Worlds on the Mercury Theater of the Air and the resulting confusion caused by the alleged Martian invasion - a panic that has been called into question recently by skeptics, but whose legacy will forever loom large. Large enough, a decade after its transmission, to have caused true panic and death in South America. "We are interrupting our transmission to make you aware of the latest news: our reporters and colleagues tell us the city of Latacunga - two and a half hours distant from Quito - is being invaded by strange lights in the sky and the city is being destroyed...people are running through the streets and fire can be seen everywhere, infantry brigades have been destroyed...the lights are headed for Quito, there are many dead and there is devastation everywhere. It looks like an atomic war." Thus began the broadcast of Orson Welles' War of the Worlds in Spanish - "La Guerra de los Mundos" - broadcast on 12 February 1949 at 7 pm on Radio Quito, one of the Ecuadoran capital's most popular stations, interrupting a live transmission of a popular music show. Directed by Leonardo Páez, the transmission caused a true sensation in the South American country. The musical show - a duet by singers Potolo Valencia and Gonzalo Benítez - was interrupted after only one song. An announcer stated that a "flying object" had been seen over the Galapagos Islands, interrupting the show yet again to advise listeners that a flying saucer had landed in the Cotocollao district on the outskirts of the nation's capital. "We are again interrupting our programing to inform our listeners that we are at war. Strange lights are arriving and attacking northern Quito at Cotocollao. Spinning discs can be seen along with strange hostile beams who are destroying it all. There is fire everywhere, as well casualties. Ladies and gentlemen, we are at war!" Páez's skilled team of voice actors managed to imitate the voices of government ministers and even the city's mayor. Sound effects added to the realism and the sense of impending doom that Welles had conveyed so well in 1938. Four years into the nuclear age, mankind was losing its first encounter with extraterrestrial invaders. As if this wasn't enough, alleged phone calls from radio stations in cities like Cuenca and Guayaquil were coming in, describing the perils faced by the country from "a cloud of toxic fumes" slowly spreading over the Andean foothills. The La Guerra de los Mundos broadcast was so successful that it caused a mobilization of the city police and local military barracks. However, these same forces - upon learning of the "hoax" - retreated to quarters without hesitation, irritated at the notion of having succumbed to a radio stunt that was tantamount to a prank. CONTINUE READING: ufodigest.com/article/war-worlds-1031 Orson Welles - War Of The Worlds - Radio Broadcast 1938 - Complete Broadcast.Uploaded on Dec 16, 2010 The War of the Worlds was an episode of the American radio drama anthology series Mercury Theatre on the Air. It was performed as a Halloween episode of the series on October 30, 1938 and aired over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network. Directed and narrated by Orson Welles, the episode was an adaptation of H. G. Wells' novel The War of the Worlds. The first two thirds of the 60-minute broadcast were presented as a series of simulated "news bulletins", which suggested to many listeners that an actual alien invasion by Martians was currently in progress. Compounding the issue was the fact that the Mercury Theatre on the Air was a 'sustaining show' (it ran without commercial breaks), thus adding to the program's quality of realism. Although there were sensationalist accounts in the press about a supposed panic in response to the broadcast, the precise extent of listener response has been debated. In the days following the adaptation, however, there was widespread outrage. The program's news-bulletin format was decried as cruelly deceptive by some newspapers and public figures, leading to an outcry against the perpetrators of the broadcast, but the episode secured Orson Welles' fame.

Yup. That'll keep the kids talking for years. I'm sure it's already been posted all over the internet by now and some day it will probably show up on TV being investigated by Ghost Hunters or TAPS or somebody. They will probably have a psychic with them who will sense that there is a goofy looking spirit named Casper who must be friendly (or psychotic) because he is laughing hysterically.
