i just saw this ...i agree lois...you need to see a doctor now... your wounds can turn into an infection that can travel up your arm... this can be very serious...No redness today even around the cuts. I keep a close watch on my fingers also . If i see any kind of red streak I will know. My sister fell off her bike as a kid. Scrapped lots of skin off her forearm. It was doing great until she walked home from school and the sun bared down on it. When she got home a red streak was clean up to her shoulder. It was 90 degrees that day. My son had a splinter under his nail . I removed it and in a few days he had red streaks going up his finger. I will be watching.

(also shuddering)
I'm going to be the insensitive sounding one and say "Time to lose all the power tools!!"
Oh Lois! I really am so sorry! Your poor hand! (and another "image" I'm never going to be able to get out of my head). I could do the same thing; just cutting on a wedge of cheese with a sharp knife (no electricity involved). I MAKE myself put the cheese on a plate; telling myself its SO less messy !!
one of the other images I can't get out of my mind, is trimming (pruning) a tree with hand shears. I got too confident, fast, was holding a branch myself, and about snipped off the end of my own finger. Didn't hurt much, and didn't know how "bad" until I see the blood on my sneakers, and thought "huh?"
these things happen SO easily with sharp objects and inattention. . . . so why use something electrically powered?
I am so sorry!
Did I already say that?
just trying to give you a laugh while I go scrub the bathtub with my powered toothbrush - I relegated it to that part of the bathroom after making my gums bleed , , ,
Be more careful! A sore hand is not gonna be "any good" for a few days! And I can hear your kids now!

Scrub the bath tub with an electric tooth brush??? How big was this tooth brush??? Um...Woman...hands you a grown up sized scrub brush with visions of some poor urchin scrubbing tiles with a tooth brush FOREVER...

(laughing) have to admit I was joking about the electric tooth brush in the bathtub, but it IS AN EXCELLENT TOOL for detailing a car! So I have used it occasionally in a bathroom with a spot of gojo, or goop, or even just vaseline! Heck, it would prolly work with anything sticky in a "cranny"; even peanutbutter! Being 50, AND basically the family "cinderelly", I KNOW not to let the bath tub BECOME "scrubbable". Aching back, ya know; again that stoooopid angle. Keep the bath tub fairly clean all the time, I always say. Who wants to have to clean the tub at a time when they want to take a good soaking?? I know lots of cheats. When I cleaned my daughters shower stall (no bath tub) I used my steam-cleaner for the floors! Walls and all! Hee hee. (its a light-weight one).

Never would have thought of that way to abuse my steam cleaner LOL Especially since that same shower is exposed to "constant steam", and STILL gets dirty..... hmmmmmm?? (Nothing these days makes any sense. Lol)

Lois for that to work..there really needs to be at least 5 or 6 people working at it at the same time. I stopped because life just gets in the way for folks. Sky may be out in his truck same with Casper..Lorlei chasing the honeybunny around ...not really JC's thing although she prays for those who do. And sometimes Paulette joins when she can. It's a hard thing to commit to. I'm fairly flexible but life sometimes gets too busy for some.

They took the cataracts off of one eye and it was fine . Only took 30 minutes and I was back with my daughter. They do the other eye on the 14th. Bad thing is now I see all the brightness around me. That is not so good. As my brain damage since 72 has not permitted me to look at brightness. I get daggers running from the back of my skull up over the top.
My headaches have been better for years. I discovered it when I got home and entered my kitchen. The room was much lighter to me. My sensory nerves are all damage in the back of the brain. But what is so odd there is nothing wrong with my optic nerve.
So why is my eyes so sensitive to light. Wait til they do the other eye. I will never forget those terrible headaches in my 30s 40s and 50s .
When I seen the doctor the next morning in his office the nurse shined a light in my eye then instantly I got this horrible shooting pain in my eye. Yes that was a flash back for me right then.
Seems like some eye doctor could explain it. Once I told an eye doctor about it and told him how I could not stand up with my eyes close. He told me to see a neurologist . I have seen many and they tell me your optic nerve is fine.. and on the MRI.
I always knew this as I seen a eye doctor when it first started in 1972. He checked it out and said the optic nerve was ok.
Wait til next week after they do the other eye.... I have been wearing sun glasses all day since they did the first eye this pass Wednesday. I turned my TV contrast down to nothing but still have my glasses on. This computer won't turn the contrast down for some reason. I can hardly read this with the glasses on.
Hopefully after I get my prescription glasses it will be a little better.

Lois get yourself a decent pair of dark glasses and use them...see if it helps any. You can get some that go over your regular glasses. Even the dollar store has them I know. Maybe it will help the headaches.

Those stinky Aliens did this I know they did. If I could get back my missing time maybe I would know exactly what happen to my brain. Sometimes I think this way, too. I have been so "uptight" at times, that it enters my mind to find a "good hypnotist". As opposed to "good therapy". But over the last 2 weeks, reading Vallee and his book "dimensions", I again drop that idea of being hypnotized. Vallee doesn't outright condemn the practice; after all, he was near the sidelines of the Hills experience, but .... If the chances are that my brain and/or emotional state COULD be worse... **** I'd like to say congrats on your new eye sight, but that doesn't quite fit. You've got a lot of "adjusting" ahead of you. Probably the only person I'll ever know that appreciated cataracts darkening the light that comes in the eye. I do understand that.

lois...i had cataract surgery a few years ago and i wore dark sunglasses in the house for 2 weeks...my eyes were very sensitive to light
the dr. told me after the surgery it would take time for my eyes to adjust to the light...and he was right
my eyes have always been light sensitive, but, nothing compared to the first few weeks after surgery
hang in there lois, it will get better...
plus, find the darkest sunglasses at your store...this will help immensely... and stay away from the brown lense... brown lets in light, look for the dark gray lense

I sure hope you are right auntym. This is murder . I tried to turn my contrast down on my monitor screen but it went as high as it could go. Now I'm blind. I cannot find away to turn it down. My daughter came over today and tried. . My monitor screen has its own buttons to control picture but none of them work. I will let you know if this goes away. I sure would be mad if I could not get on a computer anymore. Thanks auntym for the advice . I will have the other eye fixed on the 14th so it will be like waiting over again.

I just hope that it settles down for you soon Lois. Talk to the Dr. about it..maybe he's got some ideas I will Jo. My entire face on the side they worked on is hurting. I took some sinus pills but they are not helping. I cannot go out into cold weather. It could be facial nerves. I do have a nerve problem in my entire body. I take pills for that. It is just pain in a nerve but all the nerves in my body. Had it all my life. Hoping it is that. I have to wear a face mask in winter even if I'm just going to the car. It all started back when I was 12 years old. It was in my foot arches ankle back then and still is. It just seems to grow to other body parts. I have been wearing a winter face mask for 30 years . I took some doctors pain pills just now . Hope I can sleep. It is in my eyebrow even. Have a Merry Christmas Jo. I envy you as you have warmer weather all year round. That's where I should live. In Summer I don't have as much pain in my nerves. I went out in very cold weather day before yesterday with high winds without my face mask on. It cut right through my face.

I cover most of my face when I go outside, also. This past Wednesday (light snow here) is the first day this fall that my hands hurt like arthritis pain. So I am still thinking "mild winter; not much snow". 😊
Yes, it would be very nice to live where Jo lives. I may be driving my folks to Northern California and staying there with them for a month; sometime after New Years. 🙂

67 here today it will get down to 44 tonight. In the very middle of winter it can get into the low 40's during the day and even hit frost temp at night...that's about it. I has snowed here in the valley all of about 4 times that I know of..yet 15 miles away in Julian it snows every year and the tourists head that way in herds LOL. 30 miles the other way is the Pacific ocean. To the south east is desert so we have it all. Including death valley..famous for it's sliding rocks. images.search.yahoo.com/search/images;_ylt=AwrBTzeVh0tY6lwAyFVXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTEyNW9jdDhpBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDQjI3NzJfMQRzZWMDc2M-?p=Death+Valley+Rocks+That+Move&fr=yset_chr_syc_hp-sStill..I love the changes of seasons which we don't have...but this IS my favorite time of the year..from Autumn through Feb. I am hopelessly Christmas. In about a week I'll start my candy and cookies that my daughter gives away to people at the airport where she works..and I'll give some to the handyman here who has to work through Christmas and my neighbors. Everyone is asking for them already I enjoy doing those. And the Christmas dinner for my family and my neighbor. Always a prime rib and ham and cheesecake and pie. I'm a candle kind of person..always have some going..if it has a 'warm' feel to it..I adopt it into my web. I have two Himalayan salt lamps..love the things..they 'cleanse' the air...set a good mood and give a pretty low orange light. I like lots of soft blankets..so do the cats ...and decorations both elegant and childish..that's me Share what you guys are doing! Christmas morning we'll open gifts and clean up the mess..my kids will watch a movie with the neighbor and my husband while I slave in the kitchen...my idea of heaven on earth..they'll all be here in one spot..next to me..safe Mind you my boys are 46 and 47 and my daughter is 40..always my children. I'm so sad. Got that horrifying call in the middle of the night that no mom wants..the 46 year old says..Mom I was in an accident..can you come get me? Someone crashed into his classic 240 Z and totaled it. He's ok..banged shoulder but car was his baby...and I feel so bad for him. Drove him around today getting a loaner for him to drive to work..etc. We're thinking insurance will total it out and he'll buy it back and resuscitate it. Thrilled..he's ok. Someone else's turn to share Christmas.

Thought of Lois when I saw this : ---------- "My family once lived in a huge old house in Mexico in the mid-80s. The place was over one hundred years old, with nine bedrooms, in the closet of which my father discovered another room that had been boarded-up, and covered with wallpaper. Apart from several inches of dust, the floors were covered with newspapers dating back to the 1920s and a couple of extremely creepy stuffed animals (an elephant and a teddy bear, if memory serves). My parents could never figure out just why someone would have sealed a room that size, and when they'd made inquiries to the owners (we were leasing the house, which had been in their family for several generations), they apparently had no knowledge of the room, however, the upshot of all this was when they informed my parents that they would now be raising the price of the lease the following year - because the house now had TEN bedrooms. Jun 21, 2008" --------------- Hi Lois! How was your ChristMass? I have not seen Lois in awhile or am I just not 'seeing'? Lois...check in please. I'm here Jo and Jc. . Been under the weather a lot. My chest and head cold refuses to go away. They won't work on my other eye til I'm totally well. I had therapy starting today for my legs and had to cancel. They could not believe I was still ill. I go back to the doctor tomorrow and demand what I think will work for me. Amoxicylin always works . My eye is better now but this unmatched sight in each eye is driving me a little nuts. I'm not seeing things as they should be. In other words sight seems worse this way. I Promise to be back tomorrow and let you know if I got what I wanted. I paid the eye clinic 90 dollars for some eye drops for before and after surgery. They called also. I ask the nurse will those eye drops still be good by the time I get back there. She said they last for several months. My insurance would not pay for them. They said it was a special mixture they make up to put in your eyes. These drops are mostly for infections. I been coming on late and liking a lot but if the post is long I cannot read it all. Like now my eyes are tired from the typing I'm doing here. Same on FB. I wear my dark sunglasses but then they are so dark I cannot see the print either. Thanks for being concern. I do not see you two on FB so you don't know what is going on. I talk to my daughter and grandchildren over there at night mostly. They type in Capitals for me.

Jun 21, 2008" --------------- Hi Lois! How was your ChristMass? I found this while looking for more information on a "disappointments room" ( leaving now to find URL to post 🙂) forum.forteantimes.com/index.php?threads/disappointments-room.33518/Hi Jc. I have no idea why people cover up rooms with walls. It may be in homes other people have and they don't even know it exist . There is a built in corner china cupboard in our bedroom. It sits next to the chimney wall and it is hot to touch the left wall of the cupboard. It goes all the way down to the floor. The shelves are shaped like a triangle as it is in a corner. But the bottom of it is just the floor when you open the bottom doors. the back wall was missing plaster and you could see all the old tiny board up and down it. Some of the boards were missing. Oh those boards are called something in old homes. I cannot think of what is is right now. I should know I call it this all the time. Any way I could see three foot wide floor on the other side. and beyond the floor is our living room closet wall. what is between there I have no idea but there was a small chest looking thing sitting in that small space. I thought some one when they built the house and furnace wall left something in there. I ask the people in back which was about four tenants back in time. If they had a closet in the living room . She had me come in and sure enough to the left of the chimney wall was there living room wall. So this space must of been about three feet by three feet. This space runs to the right behind the chimney over to the neighbors living room wall. . So Strange. I crawled out of the bottom of this cupboard and put a board over it as it just seemed kind of spooky. Who would put a secret space next to the chimney and our closet. Any way about ten years later I got down there and decided to take down my board. Low and behold no chest was there nothing just a small hardwood floor. Where did this chest go? It was larger than a huge jewelry box but small. Did this ghost girl take it out? No one in this house could possible get into this unless they tore down a wall. and that would just lead into our living room. there is about two feet of wall between the kitchen and this cupboard inside the bedroom. I told Ron . Look at this the back of the cupboard ends here so what is behind here over to the kitchen door? He keep saying the chimney. But the chimney is on the other side of the cupboard and beyond that is the other apt. If I could draw it I would for it. It may sound confusing so I will stop . It was a wooden box as I shown a flashlight on it when I first spotted the box. beats me.
