I'm pretty excited. The clouds are breaking up around here, so there is a good chance I'm going to be able to get out there with my camera. I was just out with the dog, but no moon just yet.

I almost missed it. I had my new digital camera ready and I was waiting all day for it to come up, but I forgot I was in the middle of a city surrounded by ten trillion lights. I couldn't hardly even see the sky, much less the moon. I finally went out and ran two miles until I found a dark place where I could see it. It looked very cool. I didn't get to take any pictures but I still saw it. It's probably better in person anyway.

Sky there is not much difference in these pics than the one I sent you last night. Now I don't feel so bad I had cloud coverage tonight. It has the same orange glow and seem to be identical.

Maybe it's me, but I'm not seeing anything much different than any other full moon. Yes, it's little bit brighter, but it isn't "wow" brighter. Am I missing something?
I'm more than a little bit let down.

It looks pretty much the same as it did yesterday. It's still big and round and bright.

I'm more than a little bit let down. i saw the moon when it was low in the sky just rising in the east, thats when i thought it was bigger & more impressive...and beautiful....a few hours later when it was above me, it just looked like a full moon, only brighter....

They said it is only supposed to be 14 percent bigger and brighter than a normal full moon. Most people probably would not even be able to tell the difference. I'm sure I would not even have noticed it if I had not heard in advance that it was coming. It's still cool to find out about these things.

I remember back in I think 2003 Mars was the closest it had been to the Earth in something like 50,000 years or something like that and I guarantee that 99 % of the people on the planet didn't know about it. It gets close to the Earth every year but not that close. It was just a little bit brighter than normal, like a bright red star, but I thought it was cool just to be able to be here and be able to see it when it happened.

I think people are missing so much when they don't use their computers as a kind of discovery 'voyage'. To know about messenger orbiting Mercury..or the moon being so amazingly bright. Why not make life a quest instead of something you have to 'get through' each day...for too many people it's just about survival not living and that's sad. Wow..what can learn today? Life should be an adventure. That's one of the reasons I run around chasing after all of the unexplained things I chase after, and doing the crazy things that I do. I want to get the most out of life that I possibly can. This forum is an extension of that quest. Any time some unusual event is coming up we should take notice of it so that we can all share the adventure together. So what's next?

I dunno Paulette..Space Weather picked that shot over hundreds of others as nice they say. I'm guessing it's real..but according to the photographer..very staged..he said he used Google Earth to set this shot up. Course..anyone can lie..There are some amazing shots here..under the photograph..follow the links spaceweather.com/

I suppose it's possible it could be real. Depending on the type of lense that he used and the focal length and so on it could conceivably have been done. The moon always appears bigger low on the horizon anyway. If it is real it's an amazing photo.
