Be Careful What You Wish For
I was out jogging one dark, gloomy night on a lonely little country road in the middle of nowhere. As I plodded slowly along I looked up at the star-filled sky and couldn't help but wonder if anybody was looking back down at me. With all of the weird things that had been happening to me lately it was a distinct possibility. I wondered if they could see me right at that moment? Or maybe, might they be able hear me?
I remember somebody on the old MUFON forum suggesting that we might be able to communicate telepathically with the aliens known as the greys. "Ask the question and they will answer," they said. I wondered if it were true. Since I did not have anything better to occupy my mind at the moment I decided to give it a try.
Ever since my first abduction experience twenty years ago I have been wondering what really happened that night. Was I really visited by extraterrestrials? Did they actually abduct me? Did they really conduct torturous experiments on me? My memories had only recently started returning after two decades of nothing, but they were very fragmented and incomplete, with a lot of blank spaces in between. And who was to say they were even memories? It could all be just a figment of an overactive imagination. Somehow I had to find out the truth. What harm could there be in asking?
"Please let me remember," I pleaded. "I want to remember. It's been two decades now and I am ready to remember. I won't be afraid, I won't be angry. Just tell me what's going on and I will try to cooperate. I'll try to help. Whatever it is you are doing I will try to help you. if you are up there right now, give me a sign. Come down here right now and talk to me."
No sooner had I finished speaking than the sky suddenly lit up with a bright green streak of light. A giant meteor came shooting down through the clouds leaving a colorful green glow in its wake. It was one of the most amazing things I had ever seen! I couldn't help but laugh at the timing of it. It was a perfect coincidence...as if they really were giving me a sign.
A few minutes later another object appeared, a white star-like orb that dropped straight down from the sky, like an angel falling from heaven. It floated gently to the ground and landed in roughly the same place where the green one had come down.
"What the heck is going on?" I wondered. Maybe aliens really are coming down. Maybe we are being invaded!
Suddenly the bushes along the side of the road started rustling. What in the world could that be? It was too dark to see anything but from the sound of it I could tell it was big! My heart started beating a little faster. A cool wind blew against my skin raising the hairs on my neck.
I have to admit I was a little bit frightened. Despite all of my talk of being ready, all of my false bravado and strength, the thought of actually meeting an alien face to face sent chills up my spine. Especially after the way I remembered them treating me before...like a human Guinea pig. Just something to be poked and prodded like a living pin cushion, used and abused then casually thrown away. I definitely did not want to go through that again. Twenty years of nightmares was enough.
The rustling grew louder. I stopped running to listen. Whatever it was it was coming closer...It was heading right for me! I strained my ears trying to locate the sound through the darkness.
Then I heard it...a cooing sound, soft like a dove, then a weird clicking noise. At first I thought it might possibly be a flock of birds but I had never heard a bird make a sound like that! The closest thing I could compare it to was the sound the aliens made in the movie Signs, when Mel Gibson's character was out wandering around in the cornfields. It suddenly dawned on me that that was not a good comparison to make. Those aliens were not the nice kind!
My heart was pounding in my chest. Maybe I should make a run for it, I thought. But what would I be running from? What if it really were the greys? What if they were trying to make contact? Maybe they would finally tell me everything I wanted to know.
I inched closer to the bushes where the noise was coming from. I was determined to find out what it was.
Without warning, a furry little four-legged watchamacallit came charging out of the bushes! It let out a low growl as it headed straight for my feet. I was being attacked!
"GOOD GOSH ALMIGHTY!!" I yelled.
I turned and tried to flee but in my panic I accidentally ran straight into the ditch and tumbled head over heals into the mud. As I flopped around like a fish out of water trying to regain my footing the watchamacallit darted past me and disappeared into the bushes. In a flash it was gone.
Now, I do not know what planet it is that has aliens that look like furry little four-legged varmints, and I have no idea what that thing really was. It was too dark to see. It could have been a skunk...It could have been a raccoon...I really do not know. I am glad it was not the real aliens though because if it had been they would have laughed themselves silly. I wonder what they think of their little lab rat now? The big, tough Earthling, standing up to the alien menace, boldly going where no man had gone before. Yeah, right.
If anybody happens to look up in the sky late at night and sees a flying saucer doing loop-the-loops like a drunken bumblebee it is probably because the pilot is rolling on the floor laughing hysterically. I can't wait for the next time I get abducted. They will probably tickle me to death, or soak me with one of those fake flowers that squirt water. Or maybe they will short-sheet my bed before they put me back into it. That would be fun.
Let this be a lesson to all of the ufologists of the world. Be careful what you wish for...you just might get it!
