Truckers Never SleepThe madness continues. After my little escapade with "Spider mad-man" in Toledo the other night I was hoping that things would return to normal so I could get a good night's sleep. I'm still not feeling well. I tried to go to bed early last night but as soon as I did my stomach started cramping from this stupid illness that I have. I ended up tossing and turning all night. About 5am this morning I was laying there kind of dozing, not quite asleep but not awake either, when I suddenly felt my truck shake. It felt like somebody had jumped on it. For a second I thought that the lunatic was back for another joyride, but since I am about 600 miles from where I was the night before that was highly unlikely. My second thought was that maybe I had just dreamed that the truck had shaken. That was a possibility. I even thought about trying to go back to sleep but since my stomach started hurting again I decided to get up and go use the restroom. Like I said, I really was not feeling well. Imagine my surprise when I got out of the truck, took a couple of steps and saw pieces of my truck laying all over the ground! Some fool had smashed into me! Here I was sitting in a parking lot minding my own business and POW! The whole side of the truck was damaged. This is unbelievable. The guy who hit me almost took off without reporting it. He was heading out the driveway when another person who witnessed it chased him down, yelling and screaming for him to stop. Then I had to call the police and fill out a bunch of accident reports and take photographs and all of that nonsense. What a mess. And to think that I just thought it was a dream. I should know better than to think I am dreaming when I am not even asleep. This just goes to show that a truck driver's job is never done. Even when we are sleeping we are still working.

Boy, you are having all kinds of fun aren't you? Something happened two nights in a row. i wonder what will happen tonight? Another good story i hope. I had a truck hit me when I was in a parking lot last year. He was backing up and he ripped my mirror right off. It was laying on the ground. Then the guy tried to say he didn't do it even though I was sitting in the truck when it happened. He almost started a fight with me! I had to call the police and they showed up and threatened to put him in jail. These proffessional drivers sure don't act like proffessionals sometimes.

Yikes, Sky! That just sucks. Yet, I have to agree with auntym. Keep your senses on alert tonight. There is definitely some negative energy surrounding you right now. I'll meditate tonight and send some positive thoughts your way.

I'm assuming you had an uneventful night. I was going to meditate last night, but we had a girls night and the only visions I would have sent your way were ones of margaritas. ;D

I can't believe you just now found it. This was one of the very first threads I started on the forum. That's ok though, Shami. You were probably just waiting for it to get interesting.

Our Conversation With ElaineI would just like to thank everybody who took part in the conversation we had with Elaine Douglass the other night. I was a little bit worried about it to be honest with you. We don't normally have such high-profile people taking part in our forum and I wasn't sure how it would turn out. There were all sorts of horrible scenarios going through my mind leading up to it, like maybe I would not be able to log on the computer, or maybe I would be the only person who showed up for it, or maybe the thread would get too confusing with everybody talking at once. It turned out very well though...kind of like a big, colorful chat in the chat room. I really enjoyed it and I thought we had a very informative and entertaining discussion. Maybe we will do it again sometime, if not with Elaine than possibly with somebody else. You never know who might show up to take a walk along The Edge of Reality. Thanks, everybody.

A Tale of Two Movies
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...and when the engine in my truck blew up I knew things had just gone from worst to even worse. I was driving along minding my own business when the big old diesel started coughing, choking, sputtering and belching out all sorts of different colors of smoke. I managed to limp my way to the repair shop and from the look on the mechanic's face I could tell I was going to be there a while. Since I had some free time I decided to make the best of the downtime and go watch a couple of movies.
The first movie I watched was Paul which is about an obnoxious but lovable beer-drinking, dope-smoking greenish-gray alien who joins a couple of nerdy comic book enthusiasts on a cross-country road trip. His objective...to get back home.
With plenty of profanity, vulgar behavior and a hint of sexuality, it's sort of a grown-up version of the 1982 blockbuster, ET. It is also a cliche of just about every science fiction movie made over the past several decades. I personally noticed hidden references to Close Encounters, Star Wars, Star Trek, Back to the Future, ET, and dozens of other Alien-related films. It was actually kind of fun looking for them.
Another thing that the movie managed to parody is the modern-day UFO/alien abduction phenomenon. Paul obviously was patterned after the typical Gray alien, although with a slightly greenish tint to him. He flew a typical saucer-shaped space craft and did many of the things that a typical alien would do, although in a very humorous way.
Overall it was a very entertaining movie.
The second movie I watched was Battle:LA which was about as different from Paul as night is from day. This was more along the lines of a typical aggressive alien invasion with all of the death and destruction that would accompany it. It was actually more of a war movie because it focused on a military unit's attempt to battle their way through Las Angeles to rescue a few civilians who had managed to escape being slaughtered by the invading ETs.
The actual aliens made very few appearances and when they did they looked more like machines than alien life-forms. But if there was a lack of extraterrestrials the movie made up for it with plenty of death, destruction, carnage, mayhem, bullets, bombs, blood, fire and fury. It was one battle after another that left the city nothing more than a blazing inferno. If a real alien invasion had taken place like that there would probably be tens of millions of fatalities.
If you like blood and guts and death and destruction, this movie would be entertaining as well.
After watching these two movies I couldn't help but notice the contrast, not just in the movies but in the different types of alien invasions. In one, people interact with an extraterrestrial entity in more or less a peaceful fashion and both gain something from the experience. In the other, one side obliterates the other and attempts to conquer and destroy the planet.
Having had my own abduction-related experiences I think I can safely say that I prefer the somewhat peaceful interaction to the overall obliteration...even if I was treated like a Guinea pig. Sure, I may have a few nightmares and nosebleeds every now and then as a result of my experiences, but at least I am in one peace and able to live a healthy and happy life. That is much better than the alternative of being blown to smithereens and chopped up in little pieces to be served as some extraterrestrial version of Puppy Chow. At least the nightmares end when I wake up.
If real life were to imitate the movies I would much rather make contact with Paul than the Battle:LA beasts any day. In fact, I plan to go watch Paul again very soon. And the next time those little gray guys come swooping down out of the skies to zap me in the middle of the night...I'll offer them some popcorn.

Was it the idea of being chopped up for Puppy Chow that did it Lorelei?? LOL Jo... it wasn't the Puppy Chow reference. It was the overall mood of the entire post, especially the final paragraph: "If real life were to imitate the movies I would much rather make contact with Paul than the Battle:LA beasts any day. In fact, I plan to go watch Paul again very soon. And the next time those little gray guys come swooping down out of the skies to zap me in the middle of the night...I'll offer them some popcorn."

It didn't take them too long to fix it...they had it done in a couple of days. That's one of the advantages of working for a huge company. They can get stuff done pretty quickly when they want to, especially if they are in danger of losing money.

new guy here,,,,,,, I just wanted to say" thank you" and "good job" to you skywalker, the moderators, and everyone else that participated in making this forum what it is . Its great to be able to open up and talk about things in a place where theres understanding people, and also hear about others experiences as well ! theres some subjects I dont always feel I have the luxery of talking about in everyday conversations with people because many folks dont understand whereas here it appears most of us have had experiences which they can relate. I feel a friendship starting with many here already and appreciate the welcome from everyone ! cliff

Who Else is Watching Besides Big Brother?I just added Google Earth to my computer, and along with it came something called Google 3D. I had no idea what it was until I got it but it sounded kind of cool so I figured, what the heck? I just spent the past couple of hours checking it out. First I looked up Shami's street address to see if I could figure out how it worked. I had just posted a photo of her neighborhood for her today so I knew what it looked like. I did find it but there was a bunch of clouds over it so I couldn't see anything. I then decided to check out a few other things...Big Bend National Park, my dad's old junkyard, a nudist beach in Florida... I found out that it actually works pretty well. The photos are coming from satellites a gazillion miles up in the air (more or less) but you can pretty much see what everything is. I couldn't make out any tiny little details but trees, cars and umbrellas on the beach were easily identifiable. I then decided to check out my house to see what it looked like. Yep, it was still there. That was a good sign. The satellite was peering down at it like a vulture from directly overhead. I then noticed a button that said "street view." Hmm...I wondered, what is this? Since it was there and I had paid for it I decided to click it. Imagine my surprise when the picture suddenly changed to a street view image of the front yard of my house. It was like I was right there standing in the street looking at it. My car was in the driveway and I was so close I could almost read the license plate number. There was some old tree branches and a garbage can lying in my neighbor's front yard. There were flowers in the flower bed, a garden hose curled up by the faucet...I could see almost every single detail as if I were standing right there! I also found out that I could move the thing so that it was like I could walk down the street. I could even spin it around and see the houses on the other side of the street. I could see every detail of everything! I have no idea how on Earth they managed to get all that from a satellite image but it was definitely freaky. If these Google satellites can see all of that just imagine what the CIA and NSA spy satellites can see. Can they sneak down and peek into people's windows? Can they read my mail or spy on what I am typing on my computer? That is a scary thought. What is even more scary is that anybody could do the same thing that I did. Anybody with this Google Earth thingy could be spying on just about anybody. It makes me wonder if there is any privacy left at all these days. It's a good thing nobody knows where I really live. I may have to move again anyway just to be sure. It's bad enough that Big Brother is spying on me...I don't need to have Big Sister, Big Momma, Big Uncle Bob and Big Next Door Neighbor spying on me too.
