My dad was on one of those ships heading towards Cuba. He was in the army and that was the closest he came to going to war. That was way before I was born though.

Another MilestoneI am happy to say that we quietly reached another milestone today. We now officially have 100 members signed up on our little forum. That's quite an accomplishment considering that we originally started out with one computer-illiterate bonehead who didn't have a clue what he was doing. In addition to that we now have more than 15,000 posts on over 1200 different topics...and we are still talking! You would think we would have run out of things to talk about by now but we are still going strong. Now let's see how long it takes to get to 200.

Thanks, Jc. We couldn't have made it to 100 without you...because without you we would only be at 99. ;D

;D I don't know where you come up with those little smiley dudes, auntym, but they're funny. I haven't been posting much here lately...or on my blog either. Not sure why, I guess I have just been feeling kind of lazy this past month. I still haven't even posted my photos from Area 51 either. Good grief...I'm slacking. I'll start working on that right now.

Never a Dull MomentMy paranormal investigations have been pretty uneventful lately but I have had a very interesting week otherwise. Several unusual things have taken place in the past few days. Since I have nothing else to write about right now I figured I would share some of them with you. First of all I got a brand new truck to drive at work. It only had 58 miles on the odometer when I got it. It's nice and shiny and white without a scratch on it. We'll see how long that lasts. The second thing that happened is that I somehow got selected to take part in a trial study for a new computer system that the company is using. I have no idea why they selected me since I know absolutely nothing about computers but they did. Maybe they want to figure out if they are idiot proof. ::)I've been taking training classes the past few days trying to figure it out. There are only five people in the whole company who are using the new system right now. I'm supposed to evaluate it and give them feedback on how it works. I haven't actually been able to use it yet but if there is a way to screw it up, by golly I will figure it out. ;D The other exciting thing that happened is that last night I saw a police chase! I was driving down the road minding my own business when a white Chevy pickup zoomed past me on the left. He must have been doing a hundred miles per hour for sure! He went roaring over a hill and right into a huge traffic jam then he slammed on the brakes and almost plowed into a bunch of cars. How he missed them all I do not know. As I was watching the guy in the pickup this police car went flashing by me, also going well over a hundred mph. When he got to where the traffic jam was he also slammed on the brakes. The white pickup was zigzagging in and out trying to get around all the cars and the cop, who obviously was no fool, just pulled over on to the grass and started keeping pace with the guy. Since traffic was jam packed he was going to have to stop sooner or later. I lost sight of them for a few seconds but about a half mile later I caught up to them. The white pickup was pulled over on the side of the road with a big truck in front of him blocking his path, and the cop was putting the driver in handcuffs. It was some old guy who was driving. I have no idea why he was trying to get away either. The main question I have is "what kind of a fool would try to outrun the police while driving a slower than heck white Chevy pickup?" The slower than heck pickup probably had a top speed of 100 at the most while the police officer was driving a Dodge Charger with a high-horsepower hemi under the hood that is capable of close to 150. Did the crazy old fool actually think he could get away? He's lucky he didn't kill somebody. I am now about to go out to Dinosaur valley State Park to look at the dinosaur footprints. I'll be sure to take pictures to share with everybody. If I see another wild police chase I'll take pictures of that too.

Cool! I wish I had seen it... Yay for the truck drivers! I've seen a lot of those police chases on TV and truck drivers often block the road off during those chases.

The Closing of Open Minds?I don't normally post things here about other internet forums because I would much rather spend my time on this one, but something has recently happened that is a pretty big deal. Open Minds Forum, which for the past several years has been one of the largest and most successful paranormal forums on the internet, has just had a major setback. Yesterday, four of the five co-administrators quit their forum, along with quite a few of the regular members and moderators. The color scheme has been wiped out and even the OMF banners are gone. The forum is now left in shambles with the remaining members struggling to pick up the pieces. I'm sure that most of the people here can sympathize with what they are going through since we had to go through a similar situation when the old MUFON forum was deleted, and again when Ufomania imploded. It isn't fun to see something that you put so much hard work and effort into building come tumbling down like that. What really amazes me is that these things keep happening over such seemingly insignificant things. I wasn't really paying attention to what was going on over there leading up to this mess but the few disputes I did notice were over things that I would consider to be silly. They apparently were not so silly to the people involved but maybe they would have been if the people had taken a few steps back and looked at what they were arguing about. That's hard to do when people allow their emotions to interfere with their judgement. Another thing that I noticed is how paranoid many people in the UFO community really are. They see conspiracies where none exist, imagine shadows moving in the darkness and turn on one another at a moments notice. That seems to be another reason that OMF collapsed. The people there just stopped trusting one another. It's a sad thing to see a forum fail, especially after they had so many good years together. I guess the only thing they can do is try to learn from the experience and try to not make the same mistakes again. Some of them are attempting to do that. They are now starting a new forum and are hoping to rebuild everything that was lost. It will be interesting to see what happens, if for no other reason than to see what makes the difference between a successful forum and an unsuccessful one. Others have tried to rebuild after a collapse and have had limited success. MUFON is now in their third attempt at it and in spite of their world-wide name recognition they only have a handful of people taking part each day. Ufomania may as well throw dirt on their casket because their forum is practically dead. Creating a successful forum is not an easy thing to do. Luckily, in spite of the bad news that the OMF people are facing, I am happy to say that we here at TEOR are doing very well. We are coming up on our one year anniversary and the number of people we are signing on each day is higher than it has been in a long time. The number of visitors we have checking us out each day is also steadily increasing. Hopefully we will continue heading in the right direction so that we can have many, many happy years together. I promise to do everything I can to make that happen.

It is sad to see OM going in the direction it has been lately . It was the first place (one of only 3) that I finally disclosed to about my encounters. If it wouldn't have been for there, I wouldn't be here . I havent posted on OM for awhile, TEOR is now what I consider "home" and Im glad to be a part of it. I dont know what it will take for them to rebuild, but I only wish them well and hope it doesn't happen again anywhere else, especially here !

I got a Email yesterday saying that OMF's co-administrators are quitting . I (myself ) had been a member but not posting on it . In my concern I had asked a member ( Lillian Walters ) on skype about what happened and also what they are going to do . She told me that it is still up . But it is under new people . A new forum has been started up and it is called ( The outpostforum ) I logged in on it last night and I don't think it will be as great as OMF . Ron

Yes, I got the email too..it's hard not to be political when you're a 'group'...to have strong differences. I'm betting the ones leaving will 'spin off' and start something in the near future.

They already have. If you click on where the Open Minds banner used to be it will take you to their new forum. It doesn't look as good as the old one but it's still new so maybe they will get things sorted out. It's still sad to see something like that happen though. OMF was one of the best paranormal forums on the internet and it was one of the few that I actually kept up with on a regular basis. It just won't be the same from now on.

Open Minds Closed :
Very sad to announce the closing of Open Minds Forum . I like many people here and everywhere else in the ufo community was hoping they would continue and prosper in the right direction.
Unfortunately, their account has been terminated by Proboards .

That isn't good. It said it was shut down due to Proboards terms of service rule number 25a which says: WITHOUT LIMITING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF THIS AGREEMENT, PROBOARDS RESERVES THE RIGHT TO, IN PROBOARDS' SOLE DISCRETION AND WITHOUT NOTICE OR LIABILITY, DENY USE OF THE WEBSITE AND/OR SERVICES TO ANY PERSON FOR ANY REASON OR FOR NO REASON AT ALL, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION FOR ANY BREACH OR SUSPECTED BREACH OF ANY REPRESENTATION, WARRANTY OR COVENANT CONTAINED IN THIS AGREEMENT, OR OF ANY APPLICABLE LAW OR REGULATION.That means that Proboards pulled the plug on it. There's no telling why. I know that a lot of complaints were being filed against them by the old admins that had left...I think they were making allegations of libel and defamation of character, among other things. That's too bad. There were a lot of good people there. I really liked some of them. I wish I could have invited some of them to come here.

That's too bad. There were a lot of good people there. I really liked some of them. I wish I could have invited some of them to come here. I don't feel sad about it. Not happy either, just ambivalent I suppose. I know many that visited there and tried to belong always seemed to relate there were these walls present everywhere. Confining walls. Several called it a 'cult'. I could understand what they may have meant, but I think it was not entirely that, but there was some clear indication if you did not have this almost religious like mind set, you were suspect. So any Cult impressions might seem valid. I do know first hand Open Minds forum contributed to or greatly assisted in perpetuating many Internet UFO hoaxes, some even I was directly involved investigating. The endless round-go-round about the stupid 'drone' when it was obvious it was CGI work. Linda Moulton Howe who was pushing the drone hoax dropped much in my opinion of her after that. She was only interested in the money generated by subscriptions to her website the drone hoax created. When I met Howe, she was disappointingly just a queen bee at a UFO symposium with her blind small group of followers. Her talk was simply reading from her book, and to know more, you had to buy the book. Just a disguised 'commercial'. Another was the Fresno UFO crash in 2010, another hoax. Her work on cattle mutilations still stands well in my opinion though. But LMH is definitely a UFO info myth wheeler-dealer. Open Minds forum would often attack many who visited there. James Carrion former Mufon head is one example that immediately comes to mind. This even before his coming out about his opinions of Roswell. Carrion was attacked because he was noticing, as I was too, much of the BS surrounding the drone reports emanated from that web site. Carrions pursuit of any 'real' witnesses may have helped contribute to his personal opinions about active groups creating disinformation surrounding UFO's. It was very weird that OMF was so suspicious of governments, obsessively so in UFO cover-ups. Attacking 'closed minded', when they too in a way were just as closed minded. A front? OMF was bad news and it was apparent no answers could ever be found there. OMF was a dark and morose place. First OMF, and UFOmania. In the big scheme of things, with so much band width soaked up by OMF, what have they contributed to Ufology anyway? Nothing really I can see. OMF in a final assessment perhaps may have only contributed only disinformation and confusion. OMF could have been an elaborate government disinformation port of call on the Internet. Maybe OMF and UFOmania are really just suffering from govt. budget cuts too? If so, maybe the government or 'a' government has learned persistent questions left unanswered only grows and compounds more than disinformation can distract? OMF and all that bandwidth has served no useful purpose in the end. Maybe even delayed any positive purpose. "telle est la vie." (Such is life). I won''t morn them going away. Maybe the field is actually clearer now? In 'lead', 'follow', or 'get out of the way'..... OMF was in our way. Some of these website's sad refugees are depositing themselves here. They are welcome, but they should know this website is happily different and optimistic. Steve
