Ufo hunter. then discjokey. He was on open minds. I went on Mufon and no one over there does much posting. I think it has 600 members and I went through everyone of them .. All members had 0 post beside their names. LOL.
NewYorkLily only had three post.. strange. Not too many of us over there, Who is not here must of went to open minds like Mark.. I don't know his user name .
I joined to read Bloomington IL. thread as he seen a ufo over our park lake a block away from me. He followed it there in his car. It was all rainy that day and night . I thought I might know him , but he has never come back . This happen when I was in Mo. in October. Now it could of been a blimp as one was over Indiana that night. This guy said it was not a blimp as it was doing this and that. I would have to go back and read his words again..
Other wise I would not of know how little post go on each day.. only a few for Dec.
Auntym and Sky.. I think we have the best out of all of the forums. Wait til we grow a little more. Sky will have the number one forum . great great..
Is uncle still with us? He lives close to me. Over on the Iowa Illnois border . a straight shot west of Bloomington..
Maybe Mark will come here now. hopefully

An E-exorcism
My computer has been possessed. It all started innocently enough as I was sitting here minding my own business and typing away on my computer. All of a sudden a message started flashing in the bottom right corner of the screen. "Updates in progress" it said. "Nooooooooooooo!!!" I yelled.
Every time my stupid computer gets an automatic update it automatically ends up being screwed up...and this is no exception. First it would not even allow me to log on to the internet, so I had to reboot it and restore it to an earlier point in time. Once I got that done I was able to get on-line but for some whacked-out reason it turned off all of my security systems. I have no security at all right now. If any virus were to come creeping along my computer would be defenseless.
I've been yelling and screaming at it for the past two hours trying to get it corrected but it hasn't done any good. Apparently the computer demons don't care if I yell at them. I guess this means I will have to actually push some buttons. The only problem is that I don't know which buttons to push. I've already done everything I can think of and I still cannot turn any of them back on. Maybe I should just go back to yelling and screaming. It didn't really solve anything but it made me feel better.
I'm not really sure what I should do so I am just sitting here staring at the screen with a blank look on my face. I figured I may as well type something while I was here so I'm typing this. What else can I do? If I type a bunch of prayers and say a few "Hail, Mary's" would that help? How exactly do you exorcise an electronic demon? I dunno. I'm going to continue trying though...for a while anyway.
There will come a point very soon when my very limited amount of patience runs out...when yelling and screaming no longer makes me feel better and when my fingers get tired of typing on this stupid keyboard. That's when the exorcism will really begin.
I posted a video recently showing a fellow who shot holes in his daughter's computer because she was disrespectful to him and his wife. It was posted on youtube and was on its way to getting 200,000 responses the last time I looked. How many responses do you think I would get if I posted a video of me murdering my own maniacal machine? I guarantee I could do a lot more than just shoot it with a .45. In addition to all of the guns, rifles, knives and baseball bats that I have, I also have a flame thrower...and I drive a truck which weighs close to 80,000 pounds. Do you think any of that might exorcise this E-demon?
I really don't know if it would or not...but it might be worth a try. It may not actually fix anything but, hey....it would certainly make me feel better.

You can restore your computer without loosing any files or settings by following these steps: Go to your start button on lower left. Go to 'Control panel'. Click on 'System and maintenance'. Click on 'Backup & Restore center'. Click on 'System Restore' to fix problems and undo changes to windows. Your PC should have a time marked within the last few hours to the last few days. Pick one of those to restore back to. It will then reset to what the PC was then without loosing any files. You will then reboot (restart) your PC, (or it should reboot automatically) and all should be fixed and set back before the recent unwelcome updates. Steve

I've tried that five times already. It won't work. I've totally lost all of my security systems. I have no security right now...no firewalls, antivirus, spyware protection...nothing. I've tried to remove the defective security systems so I can put new ones in but it won't even let me do that. Something is blocking me out of my own computer. This computer is screwed. It's driving me nuts!!

sky . I have always had that problem . My computer never wants to uninstall security systems. I guess it thinks you are not the owner of the computer. I just kept trying and finally I got passed some stupid window that keep coming up. Are you downloading the same security? Usually I just download it and it washes the other down load out.
I feel for you. Hope you get it done. I hate to go on line with no security. My firewall is with windows which came with my computer . I never purchase it. I did find out putting in another firewall, windows firewall shut off automatically . And now with my Norton I loaded last fall it does not have a firewall and my windows turned itself back on. Your computer is some times smarter than the person using it. If not so, I would be in a heck of a shape.. lol

Ah Ha!! It's fixed! I knew I would figure it out sooner or later. ;D Of course I had a little help from some nice person who is probably on the other side of the planet and who stayed on the computer with me working on it for two hours... I guess this means I have to put the gun away now.

It took me over two hours to get that stupid Norton update to load right and none of my security systems would work until it did. What was the problem with your puter, touched? When my computer crashed a trojan horse went in and in one second it went to my security, I could not make a scan. When I tried my verizon security pages was flying on screen about ten in one second. I could not stop it.. then the monitor went back. Two little words were up in the left hand corner, CRASH DIVE. LOL LOL I turned it off and then tried to turn it on, crash dive on a black screen. This went on about a week. Then when I tried in about two weeks a print out came on the back screen. It was appearing so fast and the page was moving up ward. One line at the bottom ask me . Do you want to download you D. I was so happy , my computer has two brains . lol one on C and one on D. It take a long time to do this, it will shut off five or six times during the download. Sometimes it would just sat there and do nothing but I remembered what the guy from Gateway once told me, my computer was made by gateway. .. he said don't touch it till you see your desktop.. I thought it would never end, I was going into my fourth hour of this. I seen Java down loading once and a few other things so I knew it was going along ok. I keep leaving it and coming back . I could not stand the suspense. My husband said your going to have stroke if you don't come down. lol The very last time it logged off I said Man let this thing be done when it comes back on. First thing I seen was recycle bin. and then the task bar was coming up at the bottom. I finally had a full screen . When I went into the control panel every thing was there sound Etc. I hate this E Machine, but if I had not had it I would not of hand two computers in one. I was on facebook and I went to slid the right hand bar down so I could see something on my wall, the mouse slipped and went over some ad on the right hand side of my wall. I never knew what the add was , I was not given time to see thing. That darn trojan horse new I would got to security in a split second, that is why it entered it first. I'm very careful now when it see ads on a screen. A computer man who works at our Cable tv company in the computer room worked with neighbor. My neighbor ask him to come check my computer out. I told him The dvd player played on movie about two years ago. and never worked again. He opened the door and there inside was a jack hanging loose big as you please. He said how do you expect it to run when it is not jacked to the wall right here inside the computer. Somehow it had come loose. I put in a cd and the movie came on. I told him about what I had done four days before, he said did you run a scan on your D yet . So he did it and two trojans were running around in it. I said delete them. He said I will but don't worry, they came off the trojan horse and manage to make it to D. before it went down. Trojans are not true viruses, I said I don't care what they are get them out of my computer. lol . They went into quarantine. I later stood over him and made sure he deleted both them crazy critters ...... He then said . well you got a new computer and a like new dvd. what else you need. I said my daughter down loaded the printer the wrong way then left for Cape, and soon as I tried to turn it on my computer warned me, that it was hurting my computer drives and to uninstall it. so I did. He said go get it and bring it here. He took about twenty minutes. He said you are going to need ink now. I told him the ink was put in it the day I got it. Which was two years before. He tried it and out come with a nice colored photo. . He said now you have a new copy machine as well. I said well it took two years from the time my daughter gave it to me as a Christmas present to have it working. Stupid best buy says there is nothing wrong with your computer, they did not want to touch it as it was purchased in Mo. and this was Illinois. I know it. Oh well you got the wrong printer, I told him best buy in cape picked it out to go with my computer. He said it was the wrong one and he could do nothing about it . I was so mad .. Don't buy a thing from that place I never will . He was wrong . the computer man took one look and said this will work with your pc. End of story.. lol So now it has been one year later next month. Last March I was going to the library for two weeks to come on here .. Now my Norton says I do not have enough memory. It won't load , it drags and screams at me. .. and everytime it does Norton comes on and says low memory. I thought I will buy a card and download it. I found the exact card I need for my computer. Then Louise tells me last week oh no you do not do load a memory card into the front of your pc. . You have to open your pc to put it in.. So I sit here now wondering what to do. . My computer is only 32 bit not 64. My son in law said don't get more than 1 KB... more would be too much for a 32 bit. How do you load a memory card?

This computer's performance says it has a 3.0, which goes up to 5.0 so it is only average. I think a more memory may bring that up. what do you think?

Lois, what you need is more RAM, not a memory card. RAM= Random Access Memory. It has to be put inside your computer by someone who knows what they are doing. An SD card is a way to take pictures and videos off of a cell phone or a digital camera and put it on your computer. An SD card is like a waitress between the computer and the other device. It will not improve the memory of your computer. You should take your computer to a local computer store and ask them to put more RAM inside your machine. They should be able to do it for you. You should have one of your kids or grandkids go with you so if there is a problem they can help you. You do not want the computer guys to take out the RAM you already have in your computer unless you absolutely have to, because you might lose some of your files.

Did you try to do a "system restore" to an earlier date like Steve suggested? If you restore it back to before the problem occurred you should be able to get all of your files back. It very well could've been the first cause, I just dont know. As soon as I posted this yesterday, my system went down (after only being on for about 20 minutes)again and DSL and Internet both went down again. We called the company, they "fixed" it again and after being online today for about 20 minutes, down it went again. I spoke with my neighbor and shes having the same problem so I guess its in the lines now,,,dont know. Skywalker, we lost our norton for about 2 weeks and recently had it renewed just the other day but we were using another backup antivirus til we resolved it. It very well could be what you said, I just dont know enough to say either way except,,,,,arrrrghhh !!! lol. I hope im back this time, life without the net bites now that ive grown accustomed to it and I hated being away from here ( and losing 2 state chess tournaments because I had no net access this far out and my games were timed),,,,,argggghhhh !!!

Sleeping in the RainI went camping this past weekend and had an experience that only a knucklehead like me could have. I was sleeping in my tent, minding my own business and not bothering anybody, when I suddenly heard a raindrop fall. Plop! Then another one...and another. Plip plop! Pretty soon there was a regular little shower going on. What really got my attention was when one of those crazy raindrops landed right smack on my forehead! PLOP! I had barely wiped my face off to make sure I hadn't hallucinated the whole thing when another raindrop hit me in the eye. "What the heck is going on?" I wondered. I got up and poked my head outside to make sure the rain fly was completely fastened over the roof of the tent and I was surprised to see stars twinkling in the sky. There wasn't a cloud in sight! No water was falling down from the sky either. Inside the tent it was pouring down rain, but outside there wasn't a drop. I have been camping and mount climbing long enough to know that when you sleep in a tent sometimes water vapor from breathing can form condensation on the inside walls of the tent. Many times have I awoken to see little drops of water glistening all around me. I have never seen them come pouring down as rain though. Just in case it was condensation I banged on the walls of the tent to knock all of the water off...but to no avail. It kept coming down. Not a little drip drip drip neither, but a regular rain shower. i got up and grabbed the tent and shook it back and forth trying to get rid of all of the water...but it still kept raining. Somehow, the conditions inside the tent were just right to form rain. It was actually raining inside the tent. I have never heard of anything as ridiculous as that happening before. It rained for about 30 minutes and by the time it was over with there was a puddle of water on the tent floor and everything inside was completely soaked...including me. About the time the sun came up it finally stopped and I went ahead and got up. I had enough of sleeping in the rain.
