While in grad school in Fresno one night i had the feeling my mother needed me very strongly. She was in a hospital in San Francisco at the time and very ill. I seemed to leave my body and enter my mothers body operating her hear and lungs for her. Then i had to leave her or die myself and felt that I had re entered my own body. Interestingly enough that night she had died but they revived her brought her back. Did they or did I revive her. An interesting coincidence of timing of events. Given the distance between Fresno and SF if was some fast moving almost instantly done. On what plane would a spirit move with such speed and precision? Not an area of my expertise but it did happen that way.

That was awsome Randy. I do not have any expertise on this myself so I have nothing I can add here. How long did your Mother live after this event? Just wondering,. I thought maybe you may of told her of your experience later on. Never heard anything quite like this before.
thanks for sharing. I will remember it.

My mother lived for about another three years. when she finally did die I had a kind of blanking out for a few minutes and then came back to things. I could not help her that time. later for a few nights i would wake up at night and see a baseball sized light in my room that would blink out when I looked at it. I felt it was possibly her spirit checking out where I lived in the woods. She came to visit but not to stay

This thread is of interest to me. First, Randy, what an incredible first experience but also that you realized that you were not called and could not help the second time. However she came (perhaps) to check you out and maybe say goodbye.
I have worked with persons both expected and not expected to die as a nurse. I have sat with clients who were "contacted" at the moment that someone important to them died. However others who were not - and lived through that time normally felt bad that they hadn't known. I have personally experienced both - had a friend die and not sense a thing, know ahead of time that they were leaving. Both situations leave the survivor with unanswered questions.
I was out of body looking down and myself drowning many years ago. I "snapped" into my body to discover that I was underwater, with a mouth full of vomit and water. I immediately came to the surface and floated for a moment and then swam to shore. There had been people who had seen me who were frantically trying to launch a boat. I wasn't far from shore - but might have drowned a few yards from being able to stand up. (I had become hypothermic after swimming in from a capsized sail boat). However other times that I came close to drowning I was present for every terrifying second - caught in a rip in Hawaii and towed out to where huge waves were breaking (it was black at the depth I was at) and again on the West coast here when I was held under, came up exhaling and then was pulled back under again when the wave caught my boogie board. As a friend of mine said while in the midst of being hit by a car (broken pelvis) she WISHED she could have passed out. But fighting on is generally want our bodies want to do and with will behind that often succeed. Without will...there a letting go that (I hope) is peaceful.

Wow. My first out of body experience was during a drowning, also. I also thought it was "cool" that our bodies have this natural instinct to fight for life.

Also about the time that I had the experience with my mother I was thinking of a family friend in another state and got a feeling of black cold empty void with out anything solid no heat no light just empty void. Later I found out that the friend had been killed in a traffic accident. Kind of scarey that all there was was a black empty void. Yet some how i had contacted something remaining of the friend but how that happened i dont know.

With most abilities, you have to practice it in order to control it. I have out of body experiences but I rarely play around with it. The last couple of times it happened, my "spirit" didnt want to return to the body so that was the end of that for me. I believe that we are all connected in some way. There are people here that are connected and don't realize it. Just by reading some of the threads, I can kind of picture what a couple of people look like, though I have never met them or know them personally. Granted, I am probably wrong but I get a visual. ;D. OBO's are a bit scary so tread lightly if you do have them.

But how do we tread lightly? Sometimes these things just happen! It's one thing to "will oneself" to spiritually go visit a friend in the hospital. Quite another to NOT be thinking of someone and suddenly be right next to them. Last night I had another dream, that I only barely remember, and that's why I don't share it on the dream thread . But I was trying to get "Home". In my dream it was a literal home, but its not lost on me what I was trying to do. And there kept being obstacles. And I didn't make it, and then I was struggling to wake myself up. Yes, by all means, be cautious.

But how do we tread lightly? Sometimes these things just happen! Well, let me rephrase what I said. I used to "play" with OBE's. Until it was harder to return to my body. The other, you cannot control. Well, at least I haven't found a way to ;D

I wonder if death is similar to an OBE? A person's spirit leaves the body and goes someplace else...and just never comes back.

could a person literally for a few minutes take over a person literally and use that persons body to do something like phone in a pardon for a convict as example. I recall meeting a man in Reno that was a friend of a friend and looking at him I knew he would be dead in a week first thing. He died on the job in a week. I knew just looking at him. Life is very fragile at times and the slightest nudge can be disasterous. OBEs are very dangerous not only to the person surfing the ether but also to the people they touch. STay gone too long and you will die yourself. You have a unlimited reach but no control at times over what happens or you do and lack control yourself.

Its a good question, Randy. One wouldn't think so, but some of my "dreams" I am someone else. I believe I've talked about it before, but the best way I know to describe it, is suddenly it seems I've *popped* into someone elses body, we're sitting there having a conversation, and I mentally (and physically) struggle to not "give myself away". What I mean by "we're", is I'm suddenly with people I don't know, but they know me, we're in a certain setting, and I just try to play along. When the show, "Quantum Leap" came out (nods). . . well, you can imagine what I thought . Of course that show was whole episodes. Mine was never that long. . . Sky, I have some books on near death experiences (NDE). It was a popular subject of study at one time, and one of these books is by a Dr. who focused on children. I probably should get around to reading it. But yes, I wonder the same thing. As you know, I drowned in a swimming pool and "saw" myself laying on the bottom of the pool. I didn't see a long tunnel or anything like that.

Often as a teen laying on my bed taking an afternoon nap in the summer heat i would seem to float at ceiling level out of my body at times. It would be interesting to see if one could project a physical image some where else briefly. Would be real security issue for some places if it could be done.
