Orson Welles - War Of The Worlds - Radio Broadcast 1938 - Complete Broadcast.
Uploaded by davewebb42 on Dec 16, 2010 Orson Welles - War Of The Worlds - Radio Broadcast 1938 - Complete Broadcast. The War of the Worlds was an episode of the American radio drama anthology series Mercury Theatre on the Air. It was performed as a Halloween episode of the series on October 30, 1938 and aired over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network. Directed and narrated by Orson Welles, the episode was an adaptation of H. G. Wells' novel The War of the Worlds. The first two thirds of the 60-minute broadcast were presented as a series of simulated "news bulletins", which suggested to many listeners that an actual alien invasion by Martians was currently in progress. Compounding the issue was the fact that the Mercury Theatre on the Air was a 'sustaining show' (it ran without commercial breaks), thus adding to the program's quality of realism. Although there were sensationalist accounts in the press about a supposed panic in response to the broadcast, the precise extent of listener response has been debated. In the days following the adaptation, however, there was widespread outrage. The program's news-bulletin format was decried as cruelly deceptive by some newspapers and public figures, leading to an outcry against the perpetrators of the broadcast, but the episode secured Orson Welles' fame.

Yep...I just did it today. The pumpkin is a white pumpkin that I bought a few days ago when I was in Missouri. I didn't even know they made white pumpkins. I always carve a Jack O'lantern for Halloween. It's a tradition that I started way back when I was a little kid. I have a photo album full of pictures of the ones I have carved over the years. Some of them are pretty creative. This is the first ghost pumpkin I have ever done.

I carved a white pumpkin as a grey with almond shaped eyes (I left a thin layer of pumpkin flesh so that the glow was subdued. Left it in the woods at my friend's house. We had a clear sky, hot fire, and pondered life and death and what might be outside of those two realities.

I thought about carving a white pumpkin like a gray but couldn't find one with the right shape. I bet it looked cool though. I wonder if we are going to be getting reports from Canada about alien heads hiding in the woods...

Goodness gracious, Srini! Is that you? I can't hardly tell through all of that hair. ;D Trick or Treat is an old tradition that goes back a long time. It's just something fun for the kids to do. There aren't as many tricks as there used to be because now people are liable to call the police and file complaints if anybody does anything too outrageous. I remember back when I was little we used to go around on halloween throwing water balloons at people. Either that or we would dress up as monsters and hide in the bushes and jump out and scare people as they walked by. One time when I was just a little dude, about 6 years old, I was out trick or treating on Halloween with my parents and this big Frankenstein monster suddenly rose up out of the darkness right in front of me! It scared the bejeepers out of me!! I immediately took off running and my dad had to chase me all the way down the street. ;D I was running pretty fast for just a tiny little dude. ;D

Thanks for posting the WoW broadcast on here auntym. I've always wanted to listen to it. I guess I can understand how people would have mistaken it for an actual news event, especially way back then when people were not as knowledgeable about outter space and radio broadcasting. There were parts of it that did sound pretty misleading.

paranormal.about.com/od/paranormalgeneralinfo/a/aa102508.htm Halloween: A Scary Season Rooted in Reality The real paranormal behind the holiday By Stephen Wagner, About.com Guide BY MELISSA NEWMAN EVERY YEAR, AMID the excitement of Halloween-related fun, conversations commonly turn toward scary and unnerving talk of the mysterious world of paranormal and supernatural phenomena. Unlike the entertaining “safe scares” that Halloween brings, for those who encounter “real paranormal phenomena,” the encounters can be truly terrifying and even life-changing. And while these otherworldly phenomena have been a part of the human experience since the dawn of humankind – and, incidentally, is where Halloween originates – not even western society’s modern-day cynical culture of scientific analysis could dismiss and suppress the existence of these elusive phenomena. On the contrary, whether you are a believer or a hardened skeptic, an avalanche of experiences involving paranormal and supernatural phenomena continues to be reported worldwide. According to several polls and surveys conducted around the world, belief in the paranormal and supernatural is at an all time high and shows no evidence of decline. In the U.S. alone, a recent Gallop poll showed that 75% of Americans have some sort of paranormal belief; a Harris poll showed that half of Americans believe in ghosts; a CBS poll showed that one in five Americans have seen or physically encountered a ghost; and still another survey taken from more than 400 college students with the highest GPAs found seniors and grad students more likely to believe in the paranormal then their “uneducated” freshman counterparts. Paranormal beliefs include such phenomena as extraterrestrial and UFO close encounters, all types of psychic phenomena, miracles and demonic possession, ghosts and poltergeists, witchcraft and metaphysics, and encounters with extraordinary life forms, including Bigfoot and the notorious chupacabra. REAL-LIFE ENCOUNTERSThanks to the World Wide Web, encounters with the paranormal and supernatural are more easily reported, communicated, and documented around the world. Here are a few recent accounts: While walking home from the store at twilight, Mrs. Wajda of Poland and her three children were attacked by several creatures that emerged from the ground. “They looked like monkeys,” she said, “but their skin was rough and prickly, like some sort of lizard. We fought them off until one of them let out a high-pitched shriek and they quickly crawled back into the ground.” Local authorities were dumbfounded by the report and the injuries that were sustained by the family, as well as the strange animal tracks that were left behind. Exploration of the fissure that the creatures originated from showed that it had recently collapsed or been sealed from within. Believers note that the dimensional wall oe "webbing' that seperates our world from others, is thinest on 10/31, always has been, between say midnight and 3:00A.M., other say all night long. The history of All Hallows Eve, has not always been pretty, not just on foreign shores but here in America. We burned "witches"too, innocent or guilty. I have lots of books in my ibrary on such matters, some several hundred years old.

Samhein (pronouned Sa Ween) is a very personal spiritual time for me. I gather with friends in a circle of caring and we see and think what comes. I have the need to be a flaming creature this year - somewhat like Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. I have a flaming red mohawk wig (I rarely wear props) and other red things to wear including elbow length red gloves (without fingers). I haven't quite figured out my persona, but everything I seem to be drawn to is red.

Recall when I was a kid in the mid 1950s out trick or treating in my newly built housing project and greys were on the street corner literally shopping among the kids out in the night. Back in the mufon days I brought "Enigma" to that forum to talk about that night as a witness to what I did with the greys that night. Enigma had been there and saw it. Unfortunately the folk on that forum attacked enigma who was defying the spouses orders not to talk about it since the spouse is a public figure. They prevented enigma from freely talking and thus served the grays by maintaining the security of their operation. maybe that was the idea.

As halloween approaches I must again relive the idea of the greys being out among the innocent children in costume. As stupid as It sounds I thought they were just kids in costume acting mean to little kids. I and my friend threatend to beat them up unless they stopped scaring the little kids. I was full of John Wayne movies and Prince valiant comics. I would have fought them but they walked up the hill into the dark trees probably thinking I was a raving lunatic. No one will be there this Halloween to fight them

"Halloween" , by Rosemary Ellen Guiley, noted as "sow' an", or "Samhain" also correctly known as "All Hallows Eve", celebrated by the Celts, the start of Winter, around Nov.1st, give or take a day or two, dedicated to the "Lord of the Dead", when various food items were left outside the door of Celtic homes for "him" as well as for those "beings" from the other side who might have made it across and might be less inclined to cause trouble while on this side. Anymore info. as to source, please let me know as I don't know if I can cite book title, page no. etc.

www.ufodigest.com/article/classic-spooky-ufo-movies-halloween-brad-and-sherry-steigerOctober 24, 2012 Classic Spooky UFO Movies for Halloween Brad and Sherry Steiger By Brad and Sherry Steiger, Authors of Real Aliens, Space Beings, and Creatures from Other Worlds Invaders from Mars This film has built a cult following because it left an indelible mark on the psyches of millions of many baby-boomers who have never forgotten the movie that first scared the bejabbers out of them. The plot is simple: A young boy (Jimmy Hunt) is awakened one night by the sound of an extraterrestrial craft landing and submerging itself into the sandy hill near his home. No one will believe him, and he comes to realize that nearly everyone in town--including his parents--have been possessed by alien lifeforms--nasty little buggers that cling to the backs of their victims' necks. 1953 B [Cinecolor 3D] Cast: Jimmy Hunt, Helena Carter, Arthur Franz, Leif Erickson, Hillary Brooke, Bert Freed. Director: William Cameron Menzies. Invaders from Mars In a faithful adaptation of the 1953 cult favorite, director Tobe Hooper updates the classic with dramatic special effects by John Dykstra and Stan Winston that only heighten the impact of the original. One by one, the boy who witnessed the landing of the spacecraft perceives his teachers, townspeople, and parents becoming possessed by the extraterrestrial invaders. A bonus for movie buffs: The scene in which that cold and rigid nurse from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Louise Fletcher, swallows a live frog in one gulp. 1986 C [Cannon] Cast: Karen Black, Hunter Carson, Timothy Bottoms, Larraine Newman, Bud Cort. Director: Tobe Hooper It Came From Outer Space Although we learned that Klaatu’s intentions are seemingly benevolent in this film, there are chills aplenty as the giant eyeball monsters from outer space--complete with eerie theremin theme music that signals their presence--demonstrate their ability to shape-shift into any form, including the shapes of friends and neighbors. 1953 B [Universal-International 3D] Cast: Richard Carlson, Barbara Rush, Charles Drake, Joe Sawyer. Invasion of the Body Snatchers This is another film that has built a cult following because of the manner in which it pushes certain fear buttons in the psyche: Could it be possible that the reason those nearest and dearest to us don't seem to be quite themselves because they have been possessed by some alien intelligence? Although the "alien intelligence" in this film happens to arrive on Earth in the form of weird, plantlike pods, the frightening possession of unsuspecting humans while they sleep really epitomizes the basic dread of a shape-shifting entity that can assume any form it wishes at its will. Entertainment Weekly ranks this chilling adaptation of Jack Finney's novel Number Eight on its list of the "Top 100 Science Fiction Movies." 1956 B [Allied Artists/Walter Wanger] Cast: Kevin McCarthy, Dana Wynter, Larry Gates, King Donovan, Carolyn Jones, Virginia Christine. Director: Don Siegel. MORE MOVIE TITLES, CONTINUE READING: www.ufodigest.com/article/classic-spooky-ufo-movies-halloween-brad-and-sherry-steiger

Now if we can just get one of those cute little "Black Books", as they were refered to by the Inquisition or "Holy Office" we might just try to see if one can raise half the Hell, one was supposed to be able to do with them. Does "necromancy" ring a bell?

the old invader from mars was a good movie and just enough reality to it that I have wondered if some one connected with the movie knew more than they would admit. The older invaders from mars is at best a comedy. Some where in the US on halloween the greys will be out picking off kids. While I saw greys openly out as greys I also saw them dressed in ragged clothes hangging in strips off them in dim lighting. It distorted their outline and was good camoflage
