Shirley Maclaine has long been a UFO advocate..in fact she has been an advocate of just about everything paranormal. She's urging people to 'get their act together' for the new beginning in 2012. I tend to agree with a lot of what she says. Maclaine Urges Mankind To Get Ready For New Beginning In 2012 Movie veteran and spiritual sage Shirley Maclaine is urging humanity to get its "act together" in time for the end of 2012 - because she believes there will be a huge awakening of consciousness when the earth's solar system is aligned with the centre of the galaxy. Like many people, the actress thinks the world as we know it will end on 21 December, 2012 - but it will be more a new beginning than a feared terrible tragedy. And MacLaine feels sure that all the world's natural disasters, weird weather and our own sense of "speed, speed, speed" is preparing those who want to see and respond to the signs. Appearing on the Oprah Winfrey Show in America on Monday (11Apr11), the Terms of Endearment star said, "We're coming into an alignment... and it's the first time in 26,000 years that this has occurred... This solar system is on direct alignment with the centre of the galaxy. "That carries with it a very profound electro-magnetic frequency... and gravitational pull, hence the weather. What does that do to consciousness? What does that do to our sense of reality? "I know everyone is feeling this sense of speed, speed, speed and they don't know what to do about it. I have a feeling... that the karmic drama of the laws of cause and effect, at the end of the 26,000 years, it is possible that we could be on the threshold of a new beginning. I think what this pressure - this kinda psychic spiritual pressure we're all feeling - is about, what your internal soul is telling you is, 'Get your act together!'" www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/story/maclaine-urges-mankind-to-get-ready-for-new-beginning-in-2012_1212108

Shirley Maclaine was considered early as a guest speaker at the 2008 Mufon Symposium in San Jose. That Symposium was the first to loose money (over $12,000) for Mufon. There were many reasons for that knowing first hand from those that were running it then. Of course, that information officially Mufon never made public.
Maclaine would have attracted a huge attendance, many of whom potentially having never attended a 'UFO' conference before to hear her. Instead, the same old faces from the same old crowd presenting literally in a few cases the same talks....but in lower attendance numbers. Some of this was due to the beginning of the worsening economy, but more the poor planning in use of the facilities (too many meeting rooms at higher rates) at San Jose caused higher than anticipated expenses causing that Mufon symposium to go big into the red. The Northern California Mufon chapter that hosted by Mufon rules had to foot half the profit or loss (-$6000). The local chapter still has not recovered.
Mufon felt Maclaine as a speaker presented "a less than scientific" image the organization desired to project, and the idea was rejected early.
I might tend to agree with Mufon then about Maclaine for a guest speaker, but in hindsight now considering their present financial difficulties?
PS - George Noory of Coast to Coast who was the Mufon dinner speaker in 2008 literally at the last minute greedily demanded double his speaking fee! (from $1000 to $2000 for just 2 hours 'work'). He dashed afterward to do his broadcast at a local affiliated radio station later that night.
A year later, Noory made an appearance at a local Mufon chapter fund raiser to return half the money he stiffed the symposium planners for. Maybe he was worried his greed might have killed that golden goose?
All for keeping up 'appearances' again....

Personally, I think 90% of all UFO researchers present a less than scientific image...what's that got to do with trying to draw a crowd to a symposium? Bringing in somebody like Maclaine or Dan Aykroyd or another well-known celebrity would have been an excellent chance to get new people interested in MUFON while possibly making some money in the process.
They could have brought a lot of new people to the organization with the old forum that they used to have too, but instead they shut it down because it wasn't scientific enough for them (among other reasons).
MUFON needs to pull their collective heads out of their collective behinds and realize that the UFO community is a lot more than just scientists and aerospace researchers. It's also witnesses, abductees, experiencers, therapists, authors, radio hosts, photographers and a whole host of other people, most of whom are just ordinary average people. If MUFON only caters to the skeptical elites they are going to be eliminating the vast majority of people who would have been interested in their organization.
I tried to tell that to the moderators on our previous forum (not the MUFON one) but they wouldn't listen. That's one of the reasons why everybody left. Are the problems that MUFON is facing now due to similar reasons...simply because they refuse to listen to what the people want?

I would be curious to know what 'scientific image' they might be referring to. So far a couple of the so called 'phd's' have turned out to be frauds..at least Shirley doesn't claim to be something she isn't and admits she is a bit of a kook. Seems to me that she's exactly the type they seem to like to abduct ;D

maxi-pulsa.com/shirley-maclaine-becomes-a-ufo-conspiracy-reporter/ Shirley Maclaine Becomes A UFO Conspiracy ReporterApril 12, 2011 Already a knowledgeable New Age author, researcher and practitioner of sorts, Academy Award-winning Actress Shirley MacLaine seems to have added UFO conspiracy reporter to her resume. In her latest book, Saging While Aging, Shirley reveals what she knows or has learned about various incidents involving UFOs, the military, intelligence services and famous people. The well-known performer that has appeared in almost sixty films to date recently discussed her book and shared some of these revelations with Whitley Strieber on his Dreamland web cast. One of the most-shocking claims made by the veteran actress is that the late John Mack, professor of Psychiatry at Harvard University and alien abductions researcher, may have been murdered. Dr Mack was killed by a drunk driver as he stepped off a curb in London, England, near Totteridge Lane and Longland Drive on September 27, 2004. He was walking home alone after a dinner with some friends when the incident occurred. Shirley says that another person named John Mack was also killed by a drunk driver around the same time in another part of London. Another story Shirley shares is one that she heard from Lucille Ball involving the late Ronald Reagan. While he was still an actor, Ronald Reagan was attending a party with several other celebrities at a private residence in Los Angeles. The actor and his wife arrived several hours late. According to well-known actress and comedienne Lucille Ball, Reagan took her aside and told her that he and his wife Nancy had an amazing experience on the way to the party. I just hope the media doesn't turn her into a joke and that so often happens with celebrities. In their world you can get away with being a total jerk and the media loves it..you can have 50 dui's and the media eats it up..let one broad-minded woman step up and they'll try to make her a laughing stock. They already did that a few years back when she admitted to being 'spiritually expanded' and also believed in UFO's. Her books and her outlook are interesting.

I remember telling the woman that had cut my hair (we share everything with barbers and hair stylists don't we...) when I was told Shirley was being considered (she had been only contacted - but the mufon person in charge planning the speaker list never received a reply). She got excited, and said even she might attend. I knew this lady was always interested in UFO's - but she said even she would pay to listen to Shirley, having never been to 'a UFO convention'. Another opportunity missed by Mufon for new public exposure.
Mufon is becoming even more strange, it reveals too about the state of things within still. I got a arrogant email advertisement about the up coming Mufon symposium - it stated "This symposium is for the brightest, and bravest: are you going to attend?" LOL.
Only a Chuck Reever and 'Cliffy' would seem so isolated and arrogant to make up such a telling slogan. Having the symposium in Irvine sounds politically advantageous for another BOD - Jan Harzan. You may remember his name in Richard Lang's posts about the demise of the Star Team SIP and the questionable financial practices (or ineptness) by the Mufon BOD. Harzan's Southern California chapter (not the state director) is hosting this latest.
My dear mom always told me the most scared kid on any playground is usually always the bully. Mufon is not the only organization around, and it has slipped considerably. 5600 members down to 2600. I still have Mufon Investigators emailing me quietly wishing I would come back, or at least include them in my own investigations. Nope - must move on to better things. Many seem to have gone into hibernation waiting for better things. Sad.
Watching Mufon is actually rather 'fun'. I feel a bit watching Mufon, like being some state department station chief at the American Embassy in Moscow. Knowing many of the players too well...wondering across Red Square at the Kremlin which goon in the polit bureau will soon rise to the top politically this time.
I am going to predict Jan Harzan will possibly swap positions as Mufon International Director with Clifford at that symposium board meeting. Harzan has been vying for that spot for sometime, if Malzan doesn't find any skeletons in anyones closet first in her desire for the same position. Insane.
On Dr John Mack,
I discussed with Paola Harris recently about the late great Dr. John Mack. Dr. Mack had been a house guest with Paola's family in Italy.
I tend to trust Scotland Yard's deposition in any view of this great tragedy. Paola said she did not believe Mack was 'murdered'. I would tend to agree provisionally, unless new reliable (A1) information should ever come forward. Don't expect any. Drunk drivers kill too many, and I would not necessarily reject the notion of drunks as murderers...if you can prove premeditation.
God I miss Dr Mack. Paola mentioned to me something personally about Mack from her own personal observation that was very revealing. Dr. Mack (bless him) was - "the original absent minded professor". You always had to watch out for him, where ever he went...brilliant & self absorbed in the moment. She even remarked saving him once herself, as he stepped off a busy street curb, grabbing him and pulling him back onto the sidewalk. That was very insightful information from Paola. Not rendering an opinion, just sharing more facts from friends for yourself to decide.
Back to Ms. Maclaine. Did you know Shirley Maclaine as a teenager lived in Washington D.C during the famous 1952 UFO flap? I knew an 'experiencer' who knew Shirley then that also witnessed the same event. Shirley witnessing that event, may have been very influential in her views obviously.
I admit I was a little disappointed I was not going to have an opportunity to possibly meet Ms. Maclaine too. I have watched her in the past on Larry King, and she is out spoken and very articulate. Sometimes her UFO facts are slightly off (or perhaps mine are?), but that can be easily remedied with more preparation. But I am sure Shirley is a consummate professional. Mufon's loss...again.

New Mexico, especially Santa Fe is a huge 'energy' pocket as is Sedona Arizona. Lots of old Indian artifacts and dwellings and paranormal experiences. In one of her books Shirley MacLaine talked about feeling drawn to New Mexico.

They probably are drawn to power centers Casper..and possibly people who project some psychic energy too. They may be sensitive to it or look for it. I think that could be a significant thing in profiling.
