These empty places may look like Scooby Doo set pieces, but they hold important clues to bigger mysteries about both the past and the future; the creep of urban decay and the necessity of memorializing tragedy. That was very cool, auntym. I liked that one. I have always been fascinated with history and being able to go someplace and see something that still exists from a long time ago, especially if it is still relatively well-preserved, is a fantastic experience. It's almost like traveling through time. I've been to a couple of the places on that list and I would love to go to the rest of them. There are some other abandoned areas that I know about and sometimes visit. Maybe one of these years when I actually figure out how to post photos from my camera I will show some of them.

It is eerie to go places where people used to work and live and the bush is growing over it and the weeds coming through the concrete. There are a lot of abandoned logging camps here where I live. Most were stripped but I went with someone who worked there and he pointed to where the community swimming pool was and the school. A lot of the places on the list look visitable but some are dangerous and/or toxic. Wouldn't want to visit Chernobyl!
