[size=8As a reenactor for over 15 yrs., there are few battlefields I have been to that didn't have something odd about them. From phantom horsemen, to floating, thin "things", to what appeared to be "real" people, who always seemed to just vanish into thin air when it suited them or something made them do so.]Regardless of what list you look at, if no Civil War battlefields were not cited, I'd question the source or where the info. was obtained.[/size]

Lots of people die on battlefeilds. that's a good place for ghosts to show up. I like to go visit battlefields. I had a lot of relatives who fought in the Civil War and in the other wars too. I wonder if any of them are ghosts?

I love going to the old battlefields also, as much for the history as for the chance to see something spooky. Haven't seen any ghosts yet but I've heard lots of stories.

One of my favorite things to do during the winter months is to go metal detecting looking for civil war relics ( when my body permits which isnt very often, lol) and Ive found a few things which are from the civil war union soldiers either lost or left behind . I saw a video a few months ago which Ill have to look up that showed activity going on at a site but I dont believe every video I see because of hoaxers, unfortunately . I havent seen any activity either(while metal detecting), but there has been a few times when searching for arrowheads that I would find one and the wind would come out of no where (after being completely still before)when I picked it up and thats happened more than once or even twice. Im a believer that spirits exist and I have no doubt that people have seen them because one time as many are aware here,I saw one too.

See, I told you I go back and read comments, just to keep a conversation going, more or less.

What's that? Trying to keep a conversation going? People usually jump around from one thing to another depending on what they happen to be interested in at the moment. If somebody finds something interesting about a civil war battlefield this would be the place to put it.

August 10, 1861, is the date that the battle of wilsons creek was fought in Springfield, Mo. It was better known as "bloody hill" and " the battle of oak hills" was fought just north of my location. It was the second battle of the civil war, and the first in the state of Missouri. General Nathaniel Lyons , who asked for reinforcements but was not met with his demand, being highly out numbered 2-1, was killed during the battle. Although this battle was a southern victory, the confederates and union both suffered high #s of casualties (over 2500). The south continued to keep a stronghold in Springfield for a few years but eventually the north succeeded in another campaign. One of my favorite stories and most heroic events of the civil war happened in a future battle in Springfield which is called "Zagonyis charge". Ill leave it up to those interested in further reading to research this event . Its incredible how this small group of highly trained men went through Springfield outnumbered ( about 5-1) as they were and inflicted the damage theyd caused. I can also sympathize with Frank and Jesse James for being rebellious as they were because of the way the union soldiers treated their family when they came to their home in Carthage , Mo. They hung his father -in- law in front of the family causing brain damage the rest of his life and beat young Jesse out in the field because the family wouldnt give up Franks location. No wonder they had so much resentment towards the north !.

Where I live, there is a lot of Indian influence. There are wonderful huge old oak trees (a staple of their diet was acorn mush) and my horse vet has personal stories of an Indian medicine man who visits his children at night. The land is rich with energy left behind. I am a big believer that we leave an energy 'footprint' where we have lived. Some houses you walk into have very negative energies and don't 'feel' comfortable while others are warm and welcoming.

Jo, theres a place nearby called "high point" at stockton lake, Mo. not too far from my location. It doesnt have anything to do with the civil war, although there were skirmishes in the area, but I use to fish there many times and it has indian arrowheads all over the place. On many occasions while walking to the lake through the woods, I noticed that even on very hot days there are areas that you step into that are very cool and then a step or two later its hot again, its eerie to say the least and "chilling". Im not the only one to notice this, my son, daughter, and even her fiance felt it when they walked into these areas and its creepy. Theres also an old cemetary and schoolhouse nearby, about 1/8th of a mile from this location. If I can remember to do so, ill grab a thermometer and a camcorder to take readings and record it. I have taken pics of the cemetary during daylight hours in the past but nothing showed up out of the ordinary.
