We live in strange times. There is this French town of Bugarach that people believe will survive Armageddon. It boasts an upside down mountain (the top layer of rock is older than the bottom layer). It's been said to be surrounded by an energy field, an underground alien base (doesn't every darn mountain have one?) and an entrance into the realm of inner earth. As of December 2010, the village had recently been flooded by believers in the 2012 doomsday, thinking the village will survive the apocalypse.[1] The mayor has decided to order the army to block those 2012 believers from entering. The article is interesting as this mountain allegedly inspired Spielberg's Close Encounters and Jules Verne's Journey to the center of the earth (the area is limestone with many caves) along with many other tales. www.perillos.com/bugarach1.htmlwww.yahoo.com/

How can the top layer of rock be older than the bottom layer? It would have taken some weird geological forces to cause that.

I know that a meteor impact can sometimes produce an explosion strong enough to peel the top layer of rock back over itself but I don't know if it could do that to a mountain. What else could cause it to happen?
