Nice find, Jo. I have been interested in archaeology all my life and this is the first I have heard about these. I'm not seeing any recognizable patterns in the ones that they showed in the pictures, although some definitely did have a spoke design to them. I would take a wild guess and say that they were probably family settlements. They built stone walls to mark their boundaries and made pens to keep their animals in and gardens separated. I remember seeing photos of dwellings in Africa that also had a circular design but were made of wooden sticks and logs rather than stone. I'll see if I can find photos. Whether these things have any similarities to the Nazca Lines or not they are still interesting.

Very interesting.. Would my google earth pick them up? Strange google has not reported them before. Are they blind?

I don't know if Google Earth would pick them up or not Lois..give it a try and let us know I think the most interesting thing is that there are thousands of them.

The article said the scientists were using Google earth to study the things so they must be visible on it. I haven't tried it yet but I will later when I have time.
