www.huffingtonpost.com/alejandro-rojas/white-house-extraterrestrials-petition_b_984277.htmlAlejandro Rojas Will White House Come Clean on Extraterrestrial Visitation? Posted: 9/28/11 The White House has opened up a new section on their website called "We the People," which allows citizens to post a petition about a matter they want the White House to address. If the petition obtains a certain number of signatures within a given time period, the White House says they will review the issue and make an official response. One of the first petitions they will need to respond to will be one which requests the president to "formally acknowledge an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race." Political activist Stephen Bassett of the Paradigm Research Group posted the petition on September 22, and five days later breached the 5000 signature mark. His petition reads: We, the undersigned, strongly urge the President of the United States to formally acknowledge an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race and immediately release into the public domain all files from all agencies and military services relevant to this phenomenon. I emailed Bassett asking if he believed Obama really knew anything about extraterrestrials visiting the earth, and he responded that "Whether or not he knows it to be true, he could easily find out." However, believe it or not, past presidents have tried to find out and run into a dead end. Bill Clinton's efforts to look into the UFO subject are well documented. The best archive of this material is at Grant Cameron's PresidentialUFO.com. One of the more interesting stories was printed in a book by Clinton's friend Webster Hubbell. Hubbell was a friend of the Clintons from Arkansas, and was indicted for fraud in the Whitewater scandals. Before his indictment he was assigned to the Attorney General's office as the Associate Attorney General. Hubbell wrote in his book Friends in High Places: Clinton had said, "If I put you over at Justice, I want you to find the answers to two questions for me. One, who killed JFK? And two, are there UFOs?" Clinton was dead serious. I had looked into both, but wasn't satisfied with the answers I was getting. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2045695/Sign-intelligent-life-Thousands-petition-Obama-reveal-government-secrets-UFOs-extraterrestrials.html?ito=feeds-newsxml Sign up for intelligent life: Thousands petition Obama to reveal 'government secrets' about UFOs and extraterrestrials By Michael Zennie 6th October 2011 The search for intelligent life beyond the stars has landed on President Obama's desk. More than 7,500 people have signed a petition asking the White House to 'formally acknowledge an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race and immediately release into the public domain all files from all agencies and military services relevant to this phenomenon.' It's a move that UFO conspiracy theorists and true believers hope will lend some legitimacy to their cause. Unidentified: Conspiracy theorists hope the White House will acknowledge their petition for information about UFOs If the petition gets 17,000 more signatures by Oct. 22, the White House has promised to respond. An Obama Administration initiative called 'We the People' will enlist White House staffers to research and consider taking action on any issue that receives at least 25,000 online signatures. The threshold was originally just 5,000 signatures, a number that the UFO petition reached in four days, but the White House increased that number Monday. The petition was created by Stephen Bassett, who has been lobbying Washington on the UFO issue for 15 years. He said the few thousand signatures he has collected so far will mean relatively little. 'I knew we’d get at least 5,000. That’s easy. The question now is, can it go viral? If it goes viral and we start rolling in some really big numbers, who knows what’ll happen,' he told the Herald-Tribune in Sarasota, Fla. On his website, Bassett urges web masters and social media users to post links to the petition that say, 'Make it go mega-viral.' The petition says hundreds of officials have publicly confirmed human contact with alien life. It also claims half of Americans believe in UFOs and extraterrestrials. 'The people have a right to know. The people can handle the truth,' the petition says. How can they just increase the number of signatures needed? He said 5000 and they got more than that and now he raises it to 25,000? If they get 25,000 signatures they will probably just raise it to 100,000. Sounds like what MUFON is doing with the AMP Project. First they say they need $5,000 to finish the analysis of the data, then they raise it to $25,000 and then later it goes up to $50,000. Obviously MUFON and Obama are just trying to discourage people by constantly raising the numbers so people will think it is impossible to reach. If Obama doesn't follow through with his promise than he may as well be the President of the Lying SoBs Club.

You cannot be a politician without majoring in lying 101. I cannot see any american president disclosing anything to do with ET's. There are still a few people who actually believe the government to be honest..(ok so they're not really mainstream people) no one would believe that anymore if they start spilling the beans.

I have a feeling that even though I am an American citizen, I don't have an American zip code and therefore won't be able to sign. I'll see what their email says.

I tried to sign on (relunctantly - giving government of USA my email seemed dicey). I did something out of sequence in the second step (we're sending YOU something) and all the links ceased to be highlighted. Everyone who signs on to that petition will have their IPS address in a file (if it isn't already). Mine will be in a file of people too stupid to follow instructions...

I think they're more interested in the color of Mrs. Obama's dress at the state dinner for the South Korean President and his wife

I think they are more interested in how much damage they can do to the country in the one year they have left before they get booted out on their worthless socialist butts. Every day there is a new assault on the freedom and liberty that we used to have in this country. The government is totally out of control and Supreme Chancellor Obama is the one leading it on a mad dash down the toilet. Even if they got a million signatures they still wouldn't tell the truth. The government is no longer capable of being honest about anything.

What I don't understand..is why anyone would think a petition is going to do a single thing? Of course it makes people feel like they are doing something but surely no one honestly thinks the government would be motivated by one? I just read in the news that Hulk Hogan is publicly retracting his support of Obama.. his own party is disgusted with him and I'm not sure the man would even know what a petition is..we will never see disclosure from our government. They would have to admit to a cover up and lying.

Credit: iStockPhoto/Ian O'Neill The American people have spoken and they want to know about ET. That query is among more than 10,000 citizens petitions filed under an Obama Administration initiative to open government to the people. ANALYSIS: Secret FBI File Exposes Roswell UFO -- Or Not? Petitions garnering 25,000 electronic signatures within 30 days will get an official government response, The Wall Street Journal reports. The petition for the government to 'fess up to what it knows about extraterrestrial intelligence had gathered about 9,500 signatures as of Monday, making it the 20th most popular query in the White House's "We The People," project. What's more important than learning about ET? Legalizing pot, apparently. WSJ reports that five of the top 10 petitions involve reforming marijuana laws. The Wall Street JournalOCTOBER 18, 2011 Dear White House: Please Tell Us the Truth About E.T. WASHINGTON—When the White House promised to answer citizen petitions on the most pressing problems of the day, it may not have had extraterrestrial life in mind. More than 10,000 petitions have poured in since the new initiative was announced last month in a bid to bring government closer to the people. And issues like massive federal deficits, two wars and high unemployment don't appear to be on the people's minds. One petition wants to legalize raw milk sales. Others seek to mandate the spaying and neutering of pets, abolish the Transportation Security Administration and "formally acknowledge an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race." The White House has promised that any petition meeting a threshold for a number of signatures—more than 50 so far have met it—will get an expedited hearing and an official policy response. The first responses could come as early as Tuesday. Then there's Stephen Bassett, who wants to end the "truth embargo," or what he believes is the government's deliberate decision to withhold what it has long known about the existence of extraterrestrial life. "The fact is that there is an extraterrestrial presence. I know this because I'm familiar with the research and a couple hundred government witnesses have come forward in the last couple years," he said. "Acknowledging this E.T. presence is about open government." Mr. Bassett decided to post a petition as soon as he heard about the opportunity and immediately sent a link to his 10,000-person email list. He posted to six Facebook pages and his Twitter account and the petition now has more than 9,500 signatories, making it the 20th most popular. Mr. Phillips allows that some U.S. petitions submitted so far are a bit outside the White House agenda for America. "Some of these issues are going to be inconvenient," he said. He added that all these issues are important to someone and deserve a government response. Asked which official or agency would tackle the E.T. question, Mr. Phillips said it would be decided at a meeting the next day. Asked after the meeting who drew the assignment, a spokesman said they wouldn't be commenting until the official response is ready. What about that truth embargo? "You're going to have to wait," Mr. Phillips said. The White House's initial threshold for consideration was 5,000 electronic signatures in 30 days, but more than 30 petitions met that in the first week, blowing past expectations. Officials then raised the bar to 25,000 names. Mr. Bassett's E.T. petition quickly surpassed the first threshold and he hopes a "very large number" will force attention to the issue. "We'll never catch up with the legalized marijuana petition, but everyone knows that." online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204774604576629070254619868.html

We, the undersigned, strongly urge the President of the United States to formally acknowledge an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race and immediately release into the public domain all files from all agencies and military services relevant to this phenomenon. - Quite frankly, I will be surprised if they get an answer to this. This borders on receiving a response on the lines of "we cannot waste our time responding to absurd requests/questions"!
That is not how we frame a petition. I am not the best of the guys in putting requests. But this is the problem I identify (in terms of getting a favourable result):
They are asking the President to formally acknowledge an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race. This assumes that we know that the govt. is MOST DEFINITELY in contact with ET and then we are saying "accept it". Why will they do it? They will simply say.. "don't you understand, we have been telling you time and again, we are not in touch with any ET".
If anyone ever went on record (past 2-3 decades that is.. I have seen some black & white films where some army people of authority made statement) acknowledging anything regarding the subject then may be we can show that as a proof and hold them by the collar. But that has not happened.
We are just making an ostentatious assumption that the govt. is lying to the public. We are saying "boss, we have had enough! just accept that you have been lying to us all these days". Instead of somehow asking "we are tired of these games, we want the truth".
A better approach would be to set a trap. May be ask something like - "We urge the President to confirm any govt. knowledge, research and activities related to the UFO and Extraterrestrial Contact phenomenon. If there is none, we urge the President to make an official statement - on behalf of the government - denying any involvement whatsoever of govt. in covert projects or otherwise related to the said matter. " Extensive delay in response to this would naturally tilt the bar in favour of the petitioners.
Ofcourse, there are a lot of brainy people on the other side. And in all probability we still won't get a response either confirming or denying it. But atleast we would not look so obviously naive to the media and thru media to the general public.
Bill Clinton's efforts to look into the UFO subject are well documented. - Yeah.. I would guess so. I don't ofcourse know what or what not he tried. But I have once seen him answering a question (in his usual charming and charismatic way - man the guy has got style and charisma!!) in Japan. I don't know the exact date but he was Ex-President at the time.
When asked about ET and life outsite and all, he answered (something to this effect):
"Well, it is quite logical to assume and safely say there is life elsewhere..... ..............
................Id say most of you guys who are under 30 years of age today will know things quite ground breaking and significant in your life time"..
You can search for that video on Youtube. May be run a search saying "Clinton Japan".
All that said, don't get me wrong for asking.. for what are we going to really do if they acknowledge this?!!! We are going to spend a few more days in front of the television sets, media will have a field day thats it. Most of us won't make any practical difference - in light of the 'changed reality' is my guess!
If anyone - USA or any other country are going to acknowledge the presence of E.T and contact, they will first pass the information to all the political bodies/govt. around the world - well those that matter.
Regards, Srinivas

www.universetoday.com/90717/no-alien-visits-or-ufo-coverups-white-house-says/#more-90717 No Alien Visits or UFO Coverups, White House Says by Nancy Atkinson on November 5, 2011 Movie poster from 'Independence Day.' Credit: 20th Century Fox The White House has responded to two petitions asking the US government to formally acknowledge that aliens have visited Earth and to disclose to any intentional withholding of government interactions with extraterrestrial beings. “The U.S. government has no evidence that any life exists outside our planet, or that an extraterrestrial presence has contacted or engaged any member of the human race,” said Phil Larson from the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy, on the WhiteHouse.gov website. “In addition, there is no credible information to suggest that any evidence is being hidden from the public’s eye.” 5,387 people had signed the petition for immediately disclosing the government’s knowledge of and communications with extraterrestrial beings, and 12,078 signed the request for a formal acknowledgement from the White House that extraterrestrials have been engaging the human race. “Hundreds of military and government agency witnesses have come forward with testimony confirming this extraterrestrial presence,” the second petition states. “Opinion polls now indicate more than 50% of the American people believe there is an extraterrestrial presence and more than 80% believe the government is not telling the truth about this phenomenon. The people have a right to know. The people can handle the truth.” These petitions come from an Obama Administration initiative called ‘We the People’ which has White House staffers respond and consider taking action on any issue that receives at least 25,000 online signatures. Regarding these two petitions, the White House promised to respond if the petitions got 17,000 or more signatures by Oct. 22. Whether or not this will appease or satisfy any conspiracy theorists or UFO believers is yet to be seen, but it is gratifying to see the White House respond in such a no-nonsense manner. UPDATE: The Paradigm Research Group, one of the organizations sponsoring the petitions, has issued a statement saying, “As expected it was written by a low level staffer from the Office of Science and Technology Policy – research assistant Phil Larson. The response was unacceptable.” CONTINUE READING: www.universetoday.com/90717/no-alien-visits-or-ufo-coverups-white-house-says/#more-90717

It doesn't matter how the question is framed they will still lie about it. Everybody knows that no matter what the government says it will still be a lie so why would they tell the truth? It would be kind of like if a liar said, "I lie about everything I say." If that is true than it would mean he just lied which means it can not be true even though he is admitting it is a lie...or something like that.

Well, I missed Auntym's post above. So apparently they came back and said "no such thing"....
Seriously theres no point in accepting it now. We can't even go out of the solar system as of now. What are we going to do dealing with ET. As far as I am concerned, we have a loooooooooooong way to go before we can treat with a space faring species as equals. I would have it no other way.
