I don't know if that has anything to do with pollution or not. Random mutations occur all the time in nature...that's how evolution takes place. It is a weird looking critter though.

It puts me in mind of the three legged frogs and 3 eyed frogs in some Southern town.

I wonder if that crazy thing would have survived if they had not killed it? Probably not, I would guess. It also makes me wonder if the ancient stories about the cyclops (one-eyed people) might actually be based on fact...or did people just assume there had been a race of one-eyed humans, possibly because a baby was once born with this same deformity?

Those are good questions sky. It probably would not have survived in the wild. A shark is a hunter, and all good hunters require depth perception... basically they need two functioning eyes so the brain can triangulate distance and calculate speed. The depth perception ability is what allows us to be able to drive and hunt. The poor thing would have probably starved to death.

that is a one weird looking fish! Why is it white? is that what color its supposed to be?
