I don't usually have time to watch videos but I actually sat and down and took a look at this one. I thought it was very interesting for several reasons. First was the fact that the documentary was actually saying that all of the UFO and alien related things actually were happening, as if it were an established fact. They weren't saying it could be and it might happening. They were saying it is. That's not something you normally see in a documentary about UFOs. the second thing I noticed was that they screwed up the reinactment of the Mantell case by showing the wrong type of plane. Mantell was in a Mustang not a jet fighter. The third thing I noticed was that they used a variety of UFO experts in the show, including people from NICAP, CUFOS and the independent investigator, Budd Hopkins. I did not see a single mention of the government disinformation agency known as MUFON. ;D I wonder why that is?

Very interesting video.
I have a feeling I know why it only aired one time in only five states... ~nods silently and points at the White House~
Another thing about the video I noticed was the fact that they said setting off nuclear bombs was what attracted aliens to us. I'm inclined to agree with that... seems like it would make a lot of sense... this is the first time I've heard this theory I think...

I agree with that theory also. We discussed it some on the old forum I believe. It does make perfect sense too. We set off the nukes in 1945 and a short period of time later ET is knocking on our door.

Walt Disney used extensively his television programs to promote his new theme park when it opened in 1955 and long after. So it would be only natural as their accepted practice the Disney corporation would have been promoting a new addition to their Disney world theme park in their modernized 'Tomorrow land'. Just a well produced long info-commercial to visit the theme parks. Part of their pitch is planting subconsciously 'come buy a ticket, we have all the answers you have been wondering about here'.
People then and now are fascinated in the topic, and Disney, Spielberg, and others know they could cash in on this interest, because they know what the public will buy a ticket to see. It sells better if your product is less speculative, better sell if you infer cleverly it is already here, now, and you should sit up and pay attention to it.
Disney is about imagination, framing it, and marketing it for entertainment. In reality, this is what all film production studios do. UFOs and alien abduction accounts capture the imagination.
I am convinced from many cases investigated a few real UFO and abduction accounts occur, and act as stimulus for the rest which are just deeply cultural. Every light in the sky report must now be a extraterrestrial craft first, any conventional explanation far down the list, or not even considered. A few real encounters, the balance tribal legend. The psychology is the same, just now we just use Internet, television and films instead of jungle drums.
Watch occasionally surfing 'Ancient Aliens' amusingly dubiously, but with some interest too. The one thing these 'experts' on that show with their frizzed out Einstein tragic haircuts (danger Will Robinson - another fat ego Ufologist on TV approaching again) is they always forget in ancient times how perishable knowledge was.
Plagues, wars, frequent political changes. (in effect book burning), no really permanent means of recording information. These ''experts' fail to acknowledge people might just be very intelligent with many concepts and mathematics and a lot of time on their hands to figure out the impossible by today's standards. Todays standards? Our public school system? An educational system that does not teach problem solving. Who is really smarter? They want instant answers, failing to consider long term. These experts opt out instead, telling us we were not smart enough to accomplish this, it must have been space aliens (assumed smarter than us) instead. Well, possibly. I do like the message that we need to view us and the Earth as not separate from the rest of the universe - our many views only looking inward.
Lots and lots of 'experts' out there.

Steve
I think this documentary must have cost a fair bit to produce and its interesting to me that (according to auntym) they only aired it once in 5 states. Does anyone know if Future World is still an ongoing exhibit or did it get shut down as well? Disney exemplies middle-class "safe" reality (even flying elephants and talking mice). Having Disney make a documentary that endorsed the reality of UFOs (and then that documentary being scrapped) seems significant to me. Without a doubt, not all lights in the sky are alien craft (many remain unidentified). And not everyone with weird dreams or missing time spent time with ETs. "Tribal legend" seems to be an offputting term. And besides many tribal legends are based on reality or partial reality, interpreted as best as people can and put into oral history so that the info is not lost. Do I think that human evolved from being hunter gatherers to living in archetecturally complex cities, with money, agriculture, animal husbandry, central government and public schooling, money...yada yada ...in a couple of generations? When hunter gatherers had been roaming around for thousands and thousands of years happily gathering and roaming? I think Lawrence Gardner and Zackaria Sitchin researched this pretty fully. I also tend to believe that astronauts, professional pilots, and policemen (all who stand to lose their professional standing) who come forward are believable. More so than me or maybe other civilians here - they know what is out there and what is not out there.

That is an interesting idea that the documentary could have been done as a promotional thing for the new theme park exhibit. I hadn't thought of that but I suppose it is possible. Like Paulette, I am wondering why they only showed it for such a brief period of time in such a small area? If they really were trying to use it as a promotional tool wouldn't they have plastered it all over every television screen in the country? Advertisements don't work when nobody sees them.

Uploaded by StephenHannardADGUK on Oct 19, 2011 They should air this on ABC like it was a normal program without any advanced notice. Robert Emenegger/Alan Sandler's UFO doc and Terry Hanson's book The Missing Times comes to mind as far as this topic is conserned.

This program and similar shows from Disney have appeared here before many times. It was part of a program highlighting a new attraction at Disney World Florida. I don't think so much it is an acknowledgment about UFOs by Disney.
UFO topics have been in Disney programs many times as far as imaginative fictional stories - like 'Flight of the Navigator' and 'Return to Witch mountain' among others. In the late 50's their 'Man in Space' series - 'Mars and Beyond' shows illustrations of a possible technological progression of manned space craft - the final ultimate design shows ironically a glowing flying saucer using a form of anti-gravity propulsion. Conspiracy people have said - "Ya see! Told you so!". Told us what? I think it was just the logical progression of countless concepts WE might imagine - not anything else - since Disney invented the word 'ImaginEngineering'. Everyone on this planet has in some context heard of UFO's and what they represent - and it spins our imagination in many ways. Imagination + Disney = entertainment profits. That's what they are in business for. This program like others Disney has produced is simply entertainment - firing the imagination - and attracting more visitors to their theme parks. They did similar programs on the 'Wonderful World of Color' on Sundays evenings some of us watched as kids - promoting the new 'Disneyland' theme park then too. Very effective advertising. This program above is in the same style and purpose.
It clearly shows Disney is well aware of the UFO Roswell popular culture and its effects worldwide. They know how to push people's buttons.
A number of Disney animators contributed (unofficially) to the animation and concepts in Forbidden Planet at MGM in 1956. The 'monster of the Id' - from the subconscious of Dr. Morbius - (Walter Pidgeon) - and probably also the films art direction and design 'look' of that film. Including 'Forbidden Planet's flying saucer for the crews ship.
Is there a deliberate program to acclimatize us to alien contact? Some have speculated this. Such rumors if true IMO would abound by now if that were true. Secrets? In Hollywood?! Try 'not!'
I know Disney was considered by the Government to create films to calm perceived flying saucer hysteria - I am not sure this ever occurred. If they were for public consumption - I don't recall any such films. If they did, they were drowned out by the countless other studio productions. Disney produced a number of other films during World War 2 as well, as did countless other studios for the previous war effort. So Disney would be a logical choice. I don't think these ever happened. Public ridicule about flying saucer stories by most was already well embedded. No such thing as 'secret' public service film. With so much effort being conducted searching archive vaults for classic film restoration worldwide - such films would have eventually surfaced by now and be all over You Tube.
The current views about the government since Vietnam and Watergate concerning Air Force mistrust about UFOs is deeply embedded in popular culture - is a fairly recent perspective. The first half of the UFO era since 1947 had been to naturally go to the Air force or military for information/investigations about UFOs. The predominate view now is one of mistrust suspecting they are withholding information. The interview of Jessie Marcel Sr. by Stanton Friedman in the late 1970's breaking the Roswell story contributed much to changing all that.
Much of Roswell's impact as a story giving it the 'legs' to endure as it has compared to other UFO accounts in the public mind has as much to do with the already ripe mistrust of the 'establishment' in the intervening 1970's as it does wondering what really may have happened on a hot New Mexico afternoon in July of 1947.

Steve Disagree with Steve who seem real defense of the AF. Crash retrieval stories started to surface during the early 1970s. I think Roswell reflects a pattern of what a lot of people were reporting and not the other way around. As far as the USAF. There's a plenty of good indicators that show they are witholding info or part of a cover up. From cover stories following UFO flaps to rumors of alien bodies being held ar Wright Field, to a lot of reports of jets scrambling after UFOs and even firing at them. This ties in with foreign technology crash retreival operations. The 4602d Air Intelligence Service Squadron that was confirmed by NICAP's Francis Ridge. Read: UFOs, the AISS, & My Brush With the 1127thAs far as intel and the entertainment industry I doubt propaganda died after WW.I.I. Seeing Is Believing aired on ABC (owned by Disney) and then all these alien invasion programs like Invasion or the return of V that were flops in the ratings. Probably no coincidence there. It fits in with what Terry Hanson describes in his book The Missing Times.

silverscreensaucers.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/disclosure-through-disney-in-2013.html Disclosure through Disney in 2013? By Robbie Graham Silver Screen Saucers Disney's aborted 1950s UFO acclimation movie headed for the big screen?Earlier this year, Silver Screen Saucers asked: “Could it be that Disney is producing a dramatization of the flying saucer fever that swept America in 1952?” That question was prompted by the enigmatic title 1952 – a “top secret” Disney production quietly announced by the House of Mouse back June of 2011. We were told that a script was being penned by Damon Lindelof (Prometheus, Cowboys and Aliens), and nothing more. We subsequently learned that the brilliant Brad Bird (The Iron Giant, The Incredibles) had signed on to co-write and direct. But yesterday (Oct. 17) saw some intriguing (and confusing) developments when Vulture reported the following: Despite its title, 1952 is largely set in the present day. Its plot will focus on aliens visiting Earth for the first time. The film will also reportedly follow a man in his late 40s through this alien ordeal. Lindelof and Bird are aiming to re-create the magic of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. CONTINUE READING: silverscreensaucers.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/disclosure-through-disney-in-2013.html

Jim Hill 7 Feb 2013 10:37 AM For three weeks now, photos of a mysterious bankers box have been making the rounds on the Web. Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof reportedly deliberately put these images out there to help whet people's appetites for "Tomorrowland," the sci-fi -themed project that these two wrote which is based on a concept that Lindelof and "Entertainment Weekly" writer Jeff Jensen originally came up with. "So what's this motion picture actually supposed to be about?," you ask. Well, as Matthew Jackson recounted in his October 2012 article for Blastr, "Tomorrowland" 's origin can be traced back to ... ... a 2011 meeting between Lindelof and Disney exec Sean Bailey. During that meeting, Bailey apparently brought out a box dating back to the days of WED Enterprises, Walt Disney's personal development lab that later gave birth to Disney's "Imagineers." The box was originally labeled "That Darn Cat ," but had been relabeled "1952." Inside were materials related to some long since abandoned Disney project (maybe a movie, maybe a ride) about aliens. Earlier this week over on the D23 website, Walt Disney Archives director Becky Cline took a closer look at that photograph of the contents of this box which Brad & Damon had put out there. And she then identified several specific items which I've highlighted below: On the top there are some old photos. The three that I can see are of Walt with visitors, probably taken here at the studio. The one on top is in our photo collection and I was able to identify the man with him as Major Woodlief of the U.S. Army Reserve General Fund. It was taken in September 1943. There is a blue paperback book in the box. The magazine that appears along with this curious collection of documents and objects provides more clues. It is a copy of the science fiction magazine Amazing Stories from August 1928. *There are two slide boxes in the box, one features the Technicolor logo; the writing on the other white slide box is indecipherable. *There is a 45 rpm record that appears to be a master disc. It is probably from the '40s or early '50s (these type of records pre-date magnetic tape recording). It's definitely not the kind of record that is pressed and sold to the public. Unfortunately, its handwritten label is too blurry to decipher. So let's review those clues again. We have a picture of Walt Disney meeting with a senior U.S. military official. We have a blue book. We have a science fiction magazine entitled "Amazing Stories." And we have a mystery box with a "1952" label stuck on its side that's filled with photographs & recordings from the late 1940s / early 1950s. www.ufodigest.com/article/lost-ufo-documentary-alien-encounters Lost Disney UFO Documentary Alien Encounters By Dirk Vander Ploeg March 23, 2013 Lost Walt Disney UFO Documentary, Alien Encounters: In March of 1995, Walt Disney Television aired a most intriguing one-hour television special on UFOs titled Alien Encounters from New Tomorrowland. This highly unusual UFO video special presents UFOs and alien visitation to our planet as a matter of fact. Though the film's existence is acknowledged by the respected website of the Internet Movie Database, you will not find it available anywhere for purchase. Those who tracked this incredible production state that it was shown only once, and with no advance notice on stations in only five US cities. At first glance, this unique Disney television special appears to be an elaborate promotion of a scary New Tomorrowland ride on alien encounters which was about to open at Disney World. But on closer inspection, it is much more. The entire program, which opens with a short segment by Disney CEO Michael Eisner, does not even question the existence of UFOs and a major UFO cover-up. In fact, at times it has a tone of ridicule towards those who still deny the existence of UFOs. Considering the very limited showing and audience, and the highly unusual stance on UFOs taken, many suspect that this program was a probe to measure public reaction to news of the reality of visitation and interaction with various forms of non-human intelligent life on Earth. The 10-minute section on alien abductions seems particularly designed to scare viewers. For information that the abduction phenomenon may not be as scary as presented in this film, read about the thought-provoking documentary Touched, based on the careful research of Harvard Professor John Mack. silverscreensaucers.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/when-disney-flew-us-to-moon-with-alien.html4 April 2014 When Disney flew us to the moon... with alien assistance
By Robbie Graham Silver Screen Saucers Students of the UFO subject – and of UFO cinema in particular – will find much to enjoy in a little-known Disney movie from the early years of America’s space age. A live-action romantic comedy released in 1962 and based on the novel Starfire by Robert Buckner, Moon Pilot follows astronaut Capt. Richmond Talbot (Tom Tryon) as he prepares to make the first manned flight around the moon. The mission is classified Top Secret, requiring Talbot to be kept under close and constant observation by NASA, the CIA, and the FBI. When Talbot is approached by a mysterious and attractive “foreign” woman (played by the French actress Dany Saval), the government immediately suspects her to be a spy. Calling herself ‘Lyrae,’ the woman has a disquieting amount of knowledge about the US space program and warns Talbot about possible technical faults in his spacecraft, offering to remedy them with a special formula. We soon learn that Lyrae is a friendly extraterrestrial from the planet Beta Lyrae (Beta Lyrae, not incidentally, is a real binary star system in the constellation of Lyra, approximately 960 light-years from Earth). Inevitably, Talbot falls for the cosmic beauty and decides to give his government tails the slip in order to spend some quality time with her. The movie ends with Talbot and his rocket launching successfully into lunar orbit with Lyrae onboard as a stowaway, the two lovebirds singing a kitsch ballad about Beta Lyrae as the credits roll. Moon Pilot is notable for its depiction of an attractive human-looking alien who wouldn’t seem out of place in any classic contactee story; but it also boasts a few other points of interest. Lyrae can read minds – an ability commonly attributed to aliens in experiencer testimonies. At one point in the movie, she even manifests a psychic projection of a little boy who we are told is actually her and Talbot’s future offspring – a very early allusion to alien-human interbreeding and hybrid children. alien-ufo-sightings.com/2017/07/alien-encounters-lost-disney-ufo-documentary/ i've posted this before...it was released to a handful of theatres across america and then disappeared... ... i disagree with the author of this article, i think it was banned because the government wanted it out of circulation...July 13, 2017 Alien Encounters – Lost Disney UFO DocumentaryUFO hunter nexus r/UFOs have turned up a Disney documentary about UFOs and aliens that was originally used to promote the “ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter” experience (The Wikipedia page describes the attraction, hilariously, as “theater-in-the-round”) that anchored Disney World’s Tomorrowland from 1994 to 2003. While numerous UFO sites are running the Disney documentary as a “lost” film, it has been available on YouTube for several years. Nevertheless, the “lost” Disney UFO documentary is a fascinating glimpse into both mainstream reportage on alien visitation and the modern UFO conspiracy mindset, which views the documentary as existing in a continuum of “disclosure” material designed to prime humans for the eventual reveal of extraterrestrial contact. You can watch the Disney UFO documentary Alien Encounters: From New Tomorrowland, complete with Mickey Mouse, right here: Redditor AnotherPint does a nice job characterizing the conspiracy mindset as it relates to this “lost” Disney UFO documentary: “According to lore, the doc, which weirdly treats UFOs and aliens as virtually established fact, was shown once, without warning, on a few isolated small-market TV stations in quieter parts of the US, then stowed away. The conspiracists’ view is that this was part of a covert government-Disney collaboration to test public reaction to UFO disclosure. But there is no evidence of this. It was merely a tie-in promotion for a new Disney World attraction.” It was at a 1979 MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) Symposium when the alien disclosure theories surrounding Walt Disney first exploded into the conspiracist consciousness. Some say it was just propaganda to promote the new attraction Tomorrowland. Here’s the IMDb but with little info except a couple reviews. One of which from someone who claimed to work there at the time. “As someone who worked at Disney/Magic Kingdom/Tomorrowland in the 90’s, I know, without a shadow of doubt (and the reason is was only shown once) is that the ENTIRE THING was a publicity stunt to bring attention to the new ride Alien Encounters. If you look at all the younger people being interviewed? They’re all wearing the exact costume that cast members from Alien Encounter wore. Some of the younger, no-name ‘witnesses’ were actually cast members from Opening Crew. The ENTIRE thing – every second of it – was publicity for the new attraction. The only reason it can’t be found now, is because Disney maintains control of it and it’s locked up in their archives. It was only shown in 5 cities, because they were target cities. Remember War of the Worlds? Take heed.”

mysteriousuniverse.org/2018/03/when-disney-went-to-the-moon-with-aliens/When Disney Went To the Moon With Aliensby Robbie Graham / mysteriousuniverse.org/author/rgraham/March 14, 2018 Accounts of human-looking extraterrestrials have had a place in UFO literature since the early days of the modern phenomenon. By the early-1950s, thanks to the stories of Georges Adamski and Van Tassel, as well as other so-called “contactees,” such as Daniel Fry, Howard Menger, and Truman Bethurum, the notion of benevolent “Space Brothers” quietly helping humanity had become a core focus within the rapidly-expanding New Age subculture of UFOlogy. Invariably, the aliens described in contactee accounts were human-like in appearance; attractive, often with long, light-coloured hair (blonde, white, or sandy), pale skin, and fine facial features. They ranged in height from around five to seven feet. For their passing resemblance to the people of Scandinavia, this alien type would come to be known collectively in UFO literature as the “Nordic.” Nordics were making appearances in Hollywood’s UFO movies as early as 1951 in the iconic The Day the Earth Stood Still, in which the human-looking Klaatu arrives on Earth with a message of peace, but also with a warning for humanity, and an ultimatum: “Stop fighting and grow up… or we’ll destroy you.” Nordics would continue to show up in silver screen sci-fis throughout the 1950s, perhaps most obviously in the 1955 space opera, This Island Earth, which features aliens with white hair and high foreheads and whose mode of interstellar transport is a classic flying saucer. This was also one of the first films to depict the covert infiltration of our society by an alien civilization—a scenario described by contactees before and since. One of the most interesting, but lesser known, examples of human-looking aliens onscreen is the live-action Disney comedy, Moon Pilot (1962). It follows astronaut Captain Richmond Talbot as he prepares to make the first manned flight around the moon. The mission is classified top secret, requiring Talbot to be kept under close and constant observation by NASA, the CIA, and the FBI. When Talbot is approached by a mysterious and attractive “foreign” woman, the government immediately suspects her to be a spy. Calling herself “Lyrae,” the woman has a disquieting amount of knowledge about the US space program and warns Talbot about possible technical faults in his spacecraft, offering to remedy them with a special formula. We soon learn that Lyrae is a friendly extraterrestrial from the planet Beta Lyrae (Beta Lyrae, incidentally, is a real binary star system in the constellation of Lyra, approximately 960 light-years from Earth). Inevitably, Talbot falls for the cosmic beauty and decides to give his government tails the slip in order to spend some quality time with her. The movie ends with Talbot in his rocket launching successfully into lunar orbit with Lyrae onboard as a stowaway, the two lovebirds singing a kitsch ballad about Beta Lyrae as the credits roll. In the context of UFOlogy, Moon Pilot is notable for its depiction of an attractive human-looking alien who wouldn’t seem out of place in any classic contactee story. The movie also boasts a few other points of interest: Lyrae can read minds, an ability commonly attributed to aliens in both contactee and abductee accounts; at one point, she even manifests a psychic projection of a little boy, who we are told is hers and Talbot’s future offspring—an early allusion to alien-human interbreeding and hybrid children. Curiously, Moon Pilot received co-operation from the US Air Force, despite the USAF’s almost unbroken track record up to this point of denying assistance to UFO-themed productions (although, technically, no “UFOs” are featured in the film). The FBI, on the other hand was less sympathetic to the production. Upon seeing the movie’s portrayal of FBI agents as buffoons, J. Edgar Hoover himself reportedly put in an angry phone call to Walt Disney. But Hoover’s concerns about the film likely went deeper than its comical depiction of FBI field agents, as author Paul Meehan observes: “Hoover’s interest in the UFO phenomenon is well documented, and one presumes that he was concerned with the public image of the FBI in connection with the investigation of UFOs.” All of this assumes an extra level of intrigue when considered in the broader historical context of Disney’s relationship to the UFO subject. Disney, of course, was highlighted specifically by the CIA-sponsored Robertson Panel as early as 1953 as an ideal conduit in its burgeoning UFO-media perception management efforts, and it was in the mid-1950s, according to famed animator Ward Kimball, that Disney was allegedly working with the US Air Force to produce a documentary that would help acclimate the public to the idea of alien life, although the project was ultimately aborted. Disney has since been connected to UFOs in a conspiratorial context through productions such as Alien Encounters from New Tomorrowland (1995), which many in the UFO community took to be a “soft Disclosure” effort, and Race to Witch Mountain (2009), a flying saucer movie that apparently received assistance from the CIA and annaD in an “off the record” capacity. Whether or not there was any kind of Ufological agenda behind Disney’s Moon Pilot (and there probably was not), it remains an interesting and overlooked artifact in the history of Hollywood’s engagement with UFO lore. midnightinthedesert.com/inside-story-disneys-mythic-ufo-documentary-conference/The Inside Story of Disney’s Mythic UFO Documentary and Conferenceby Robbie Graham / mysteriousuniverse.org/author/rgraham/August 6, 2017 In 1995, an intriguing documentary was broadcast on TV stations across the United States. It was titled Alien Encounters from New Tomorrowland and supposedly was produced with the sole purpose of promoting Disneyworld’s then-new “ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter” attraction in Orlando, Florida. Throughout the documentary’s forty-minute run-time, the presenter/narrator, Robert Urich, makes numerous declarative statements to the effect that UFOs are one-hundred-percent real and extraterrestrial in origin. Such statements include: “For nearly fifty years, officials have been documenting routine alien encounters here on earth,” “More than one alien craft crashed and was recovered for secret US military research,” and “Military and scientific leaders will soon release nearly a half-century of official documentation of ongoing alien encounters on earth.” The majority of the documentary is focused on UFOs and extraterrestrials as a factual reality. The ‘ExtraTERRORestrial’ ride itself receives very little screen-time, and seems like an afterthought. The documentary was aired in only a handful of US cities at seemingly random times on selected dates in February and March 1995 with no notice—an incredibly odd marketing strategy considering its purpose was to promote a major theme park attraction for families. Since its original limited broadcast in 1995, the Disney documentary has become engrained into conspiracy lore, or, perhaps more usefully, we could say that it has become entrenched into what Lorin Cutts terms The UFO Mythological Zone, which he describes as “the gap between fact and belief, what we see and what we want to see, what we experience and how we interpret it.” Cutts observes that “People are forming highly personalized variations of the one core belief—the belief in a UFO reality. All else is up for individual interpretation via the UFO mythological zone.” Cutts’ theory certainly applies to Disney’s now legendary UFO documentary. Soon after its original broadcast, many in the UFO community quickly began to speculate that it was a form of “soft Disclosure;” a test of public reaction to a possible future announcement of alien contact. In recent years, rumours have swirled online that the documentary was “lost,” or even “banned” by shadowy forces. This is categorically not the case. It was never lost. It was never banned. It was simply never transferred to video or DVD, and it remained in a state of limbo until a few years ago when someone inevitably decided to upload an original TV recording of the documentary to YouTube. It has since received more than a million views online. CONTINUE READING: mysteriousuniverse.org/2017/08/the-inside-story-of-disneys-mythic-ufo-documentary-and-conference-part-one/
