www.examiner.com/ufo-in-national/bright-white-missile-reported-low-over-independence-missouri'Bright white missile' reported low over Independence, Missouri * June 22, 2011 7:30 pm ET Roger Marsh * UFO Examiner An Independence, MO, witness is looking for an explanation after watching "a bright, white object that looked like a fat missile" moving overhead under 1,000 feet, according to June 22, 2011, testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database. The witness had just gotten into a car after getting off of work and compared the object to a missile "like from World War II aiming down at a 45 degree angle." The witness described the object. "It had a skinny tail on top of it at a 120 degree angle," the witness stated. "It moved across the sky kind of like a plane would, but it was moving in a very straight, smooth path and flying very low. I was surprised to see a plane that low in this area. I'd guess that it was at about 500 - 1,000 feet, but don't know for sure." The object then moved behind trees and the witness was unable to see it again. No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed on June 22, 2011. The event occurred on June 21, 2011. The above quotes were edited for clarity. Independence is the fourth largest city in Missouri, lying within Jackson and Clay counties, population 116,830. TO CONTINUE READING CLICK ON ABOVE LINK

Another missle.. huh? I don't understand why so many of these are being seen the past year. Maybe it is good aliens here on earth protecting us from the Bad Aliens.. Just a though. I do know this is getting to many to not mean some big secret is behind them . who or what is not telling. Or maybe no one knows . Our scientist have not be able to explain them. This one must of been during the daylight hours. Most of these missile type have been at night. Wasn't the first in Norway last year?

Sometimes a missile really IS just a missile.

Most of the reports of missiles really are missiles. The one in Missouri sounded more like some kind of aircraft. The one in Norway I still don't have a clue about. I think that was the one that was spiralling. It was pretty wild looking.

I'll sure agree with that one. It might have been a missile behaving like a deflating balloon but it sure looked like it could have been something a lot different.

Thoughtfully reading the facts of witness report, 1. " very bright, fat, white object." 2. "moving at a 45 degree downward angle." 3. " very straight, smooth path and flying very low" (i.e. - low to the horizon) 4. "It had a skinny tail on top of it." 5. Witness 'guesses' object altitude. It is always notoriously very hard to ascertain altitude because our minds usually never can judge distances well. We just think we can because we are actually gaging relative sizes for distance...to known familiar flying objects. "I'd guess that it was at about 500 - 1,000 feet, but don't know for sure." 6. No scientific (sounding rockets) or military missile launching facilities in Missouri or surrounding states. Reads very much like a Bolide Meteor. "A 'very bright', 'white object' 'moving at a 45 degree downward angle' on a 'very straight, smooth path' , and 'flying very low' - 'skinny tail on top' and 'object then moved behind trees' .... Sympathetically it would look to some - like a 'missile'. A hurling rock can be considered a 'missile'. Some elementary school Principles on a school playground might term a rock a 'missile' too (usually by then in the Principals office). It wouldn't be the first time I had such reports to investigate. I suspect the object to be a 'IFO - natural phenomenon'. (Meteor). We wonder why then we don't see many flying disk shapes any more. With all the surveillance cameras around. Maybe that is why we seem to have currently so many reports of visually 'blurry' objects suggesting translucent or actively invisible characteristics..... No longer the 1950's, inexpensive home electronics make for cheap cell phone cameras and surveillance cameras everywhere. 'They' (them) adapt to us. The bottom you-tube compilation video illustrates this point. If it was a 'real' (ET) UFO, I suspect any craft would not be so easy to register - at least by our human senses. Any ET visitors would never be so indiscreet now. If you see such a craft that close and clear now... don't bother to run...they already have you...or have just brought you back. Steve Check out this cool compilation video below of a giant fireball that blazed over the state of Utah in November 2009. All the shots were taken by surveillance cameras along the meteor's path.

From reading the witness description I got the impression the thing was moving slow, "like a plane," but he never actually said anything about the speed. The comparison to the bolide meteor does make sense the way you described it.
