Veto the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 as several provisions of the bill pose a threat. wwws.whitehouse.govWe implore the Obama Administration to veto the National Defense Authorization Act for the Fiscal Year 2012 (S. 1867). Several provisions of the bill pose a direct threat to the civil liberties of Americans by authorizing the indefinite detention of American citizens without trial or access to legal counsel, with the mere suspicion of terrorism as justification. These provisions, which undermine several fundamental protections granted by the U.S. Constitution, are applicable to American citizens detained on U.S. soil, essentially redefining America as "part of the battlefield" in the war on terror. In light of failure of the Udall Amendment , and the likely passage of the bill in the Senate, we urge the president to exercise his authority to veto the National Defense Authorization Act. wwws.whitehouse.gov/petitions/fb/petition/petition/veto-national-defense-authorization-act-2012-several-provisions-bill-pose-threat-civil-liberties/GLfhBn6D

Years ago in the Soviet Union when the government was arresting, torturing and murdering millions of innocent people there were quite a few of them who would write letters to Stalin trying to make him aware of all of the atrocities that were being committed. They thought that if he only knew the horrible things that were being done then he would immediately put a stop to it. I guess they never realized that it was he who was giving the orders.
So now here we are in this country with a political regime that has done everything it possibly can to gain as much power as they can and people are signing a petition to ask Obama to limit the powers of the government...
I guess people still don't realize who is giving the orders. Obama wants to have that power as much as any other power-hungry politician. He's not about to veto it. The only way we are going to stop the government from abusing their power is if we get all of the power-hungry, corrupt greedy people out of Washington and replace them with good, decent, honest people who will actually listen to what the citizens say.
