Book Review:The Mysterious Lindsey LightsAuthor:Betty May Ockerl Publication Date:2011 Reviewed by Morgan Sierra "Do you see those lights?" asked Betty May Ockerl at the beginning of her book, The Mysterious Lindsey Lights. This is the question that she and her family would ask repeatedly in the years since 2004 when the strange unexplained lights began appearing in the skies over the small town of Lindsey, Wisconsin. Her quest to find an explanation was the inspiration for the book. The lights first began being noticed in 2004 and made several more appearances in the years following. They first appeared in a V pattern, but later took the shape of red or orange orbs, rapidly moving "sparkles" and on one occasion a giant ball of light that resembled the full moon. Several friends and family members, as well as other people in the community also saw the weird lights and each time were left puzzled by their appearance. A check with the local military base brought the usual government denials although on several occasions military jets were seen in conjunction with the strange phenomenon. The lights most likely are still appearing to this day and still defy explanation leaving many other people asking the question of just what are the Mysterious Lindsey Lights. ****************************** I saw this book mentioned hear on the forum a few weeks ago and decided to buy it because I am interested in anything having to do with the UFO phenomenon. I also like to hear reports directly from the witnesses themselves before they have been analyzed and altered by investigators and the news media. The book was not written by a serious author and that is evident in the way it is written and the short quantity of pages. The entire book is only 85 pages long and written with a rather large typeface. I managed to read it in just over an hour while waiting at work this morning. I knew it wasn't exactly Pulitzer Prize winning quality before I bought the thing so I am not feeling like I was ripped off or anything. I'm just letting people know what to expect if they choose to buy it. I thought the book was kind of interesting in that it chronicles the many different kinds of sighting that occurred in the area. It also gives details of many of them that might not be found in any MUFON investigation because none of the sightings were ever seriously investigated. These are just basically raw reports and the effects they had on the family that witnessed them. It's not a bad effort for a first book.

I dont know what lights they were seeing, but if its the same ones, they no doubt exist and are present. There have been many reports of these glowing orange orbs. I saw them too. People need to become aware of the fact that whatever they are,,,they're here !

I don't have any doubt that the lights people are seeing are real. I've seen them myself down in the Central Texas area. Plus the ones that Lois posted in her video and photos. I don't have a clue what they are. It's either some Top Secret military thing or UFOs or something...the question is what?

This thread got me thinking back about three or four summers ago. The sighting I had over the home , next to me across the driveway. My side porch faces this home. It is only a matter of 30 feet between us. You probably have seen my videos over looking her roof.
Three summers ago, at 10:10 PM sharp I went out to watch the jet that leaves the airport and come very low over our neighbors home. One can see the heads of passengers in the windows. It just happen to be the night of August 11. This one round light comes on and winks off. Ten seconds pass and it winks on , this keep up the same pace for about two to three minutes You could not help but believe this has some kind of intelligence behind it.
I went in and got a flashlight. Soon as I came back out it was on. I flashed the flashlight at it a couple of times. It just winked out and did not come back on in a few seconds. So I flashed at it again. Soon as I did it came on and went off again .. every time I flashed at it, it would come on for a second. You know me I never stopped talking to it the whole time. I don't have the slightest idea what I told them . But it did resemble a orb, but white.. I figured the light was attached to a ship at the time.
Orbs could be attach to something tangible which one does not see. The only words I do remember is when the jet started coming from the east right toward the woman next doors rooftop. It always turn right at that point and banked to the south,. It was making a left hand turn so to speak, this is when I would see the window from a side view.
And here was this light right in its path and about the same altitude. Very low. I said to it, now what are you going to do? and laughed at them. Right as the thought came to my mind, it zipped to the south in a straight line. Sore of like the orange orb I caught on tape when it just went. I could see it for about two seconds going into the southern sky. It was gone. The plane almost took the same line to the south as the orb. I have always told myself it was a ship up there. Not a orb.
Now one should inter react like Ron did a week ago .. like the orb was a pilot in its self. I never thought about it in this sense Sky, thanks for posting. Im slow and a Bell just went off in my head when I read this thread.
I'm close to Wisconsin but never heard this case before. I have heard many telling of lights in the sky there, but never knew any details with it. Or the town.

I had never even heard of Lindsey until this book came along. It is just a little bitty town in the middle of nowhere. No reason for weird lights to be popping up there. They seem to be showing up in a lot of areas. First Stephenville, then Kansas City, now they are over Shami's house in Illinois and this little town up in Wisconsin. I wonder how many other places they are appearing without being reported by anybody? Most people probably just think they are some weird airplane or some military thingy or another...they don't usually go out and write books about them. If this book had never been written it is doubtful that anybody ever would have known the lights were showing up there.

On Wednesday, March 14 at 9pm eastern time Project White Paper on the Inception radio network will be interviewing Betty May Ockerl, the author of The Mysterious Lindsey Lights. It's kind of interesting that they would interview her just a few days after I did a book review about her book here. That's what you call a coincidence. I didn't even know she did interviews. The show will be from 9 to 10:30 EST. I'll post the link as soon as I figure out where the darned thing is. I can't seem to find it. Here is the link to the Inception Radio site so you can listen to it live. Maybe that's what I am looking for. inceptionradionetwork.com/

I am attempting to listen to this interview on both my computer and my cell phone but apparently I am in some informational black hole because I can't get any darned reception of either of them. Why does this always happen every time there is an interview I want to listen to?

Greetigs all...I am the author of The Mysterious Lindsey Lights... Yes, my book is short....but I do believe I accomplished what I set out to do....and that is to get the word out, that this UFO phenominon has happened to an average middle class family near a small Wisconsin community. Because this is a controversial topic, I did take a bit of a risk, publishing any size book, not knowing the reaction I would receive from this community and family. I have had much possitive feedback from the people in my community and surrounding towns who have read the book. Several people mentioned they are not readers, but read my book because it was short, suspenceful and to the point. I am proud to say, people enjoyed my stories. That is good encouragement for an unknown author. I wanted my book to be different from all the other UFO material published which most often contains the history of documentation from other UFO sources. "The Mysterious Lindsey Lights" is OUR family's encounters, that was documented and published to get other "average" citizens to come forward if they may have had strange encounters, but were afraid to mention them. My book has done just that!! I believe that it's the "common" skeptic that my book may appeal tothe most. And those who have kept their stories hidden, for maybe years. I did hope the UFO groups and community would embrace my efforts to get a book published documenting a dozen sightings over a four year period. Although I am a first-time author and wrote only a short book....my voice has been heard!!! Oh yes, I have done interviews with Open Minds, Empower Radio and Project White Paper. I thank them all for giving me the opportunity to feel that my small book might make a difference in someone elses life.

Hi LindseySkywatcher and welcome to Teor !
I haven't read your book yet, but as soon as I find it I look forward to reading it.
Since Oct. of last year I have been very interested in these orange orbs after seeing 2 of them for about 30 minutes or more about 1/4 mile away here in Missouri during the 'flap' that was taking place here that month. Ive also noticed many similar reports worldwide and cant help but wonder what these things are.
Congrats on your book,,,I hope it does well and Im glad you're helping to get the word out.

Hi, Betty. It's nice to see you here. I was actually wanting to invite you to join us but I never got around to doing it. I've been kind of busy (and getting senile apparently : . I did like your book because it chronicled some UFO sightings that I never would have known about if the book had not been written. I didn't even know that lights were appearing in the Lindsey area until your book was published. We have some photos and videos posted on our forum of strange lights that people here have seen. I would be interested to know if they resemble the things that you saw. Lois and touched have both taken photos of them. Congratulations on writing the book and good luck.

Welcome Betty, delighted to have you here. I will have to purchase your book. Do you know the book 'Alien Mind'? Its author George Lobuono is a member here too. That makes two authors we have as members here now. Possibly more? Steve

Welcome Betty, delighted to have you here. How do I purchase a copy of your book please? Do you know the book 'Alien Mind'? Its author George Lobuono is a member here too. That makes two authors we have as members here now. Possibly more? Steve I'm kind of sort of an author. I published a book a long time ago and I am thinking about writing another one. I haven't completely convinced myself to do it yet but I've started doing research for it just in case. We'll see what happens.

Many thanks again you guys...for making me feel welcome!! I can honestly say, I most likely wouldn't be in this place right now, if it weren't for writing this book. I had no prior interests in UFOs before our encounters. But on the other hand, I wasn't a full-fledged skeptic either. I do believe that seeing makes you seek for answers. Oh, and Steve, you can find my book online at B@N, Amazon, Target and others. If you wish an autographed copy from me, that can be arranged... Didn't hear of Alien Minds till now..lol..thanks. Betty~

I wasn't interested in them either until I had my own personal close encounter. It definitely changes things. It opens your eyes and makes you wonder what else is going on out there.

True...so true. Come to find out, while selling my book to neighbors in near by towns by stopping at restaurants, bars, yard sales, etc. I come across people with some outlandish and amazing stories to tell of their own. Young and old, fathers and sons, sisters.... Some claiming to see crafts...the size of football fields, saucers and beings! All right here in Wisconsin!! We can't all be "seeing things".
