www.theufochronicles.com/2012/03/ufo-news-city-action-destroys-thousands.htmlSunday, March 25, 2012 UFO NEWS | City Action Destroys Thousands of Historic UFO Audio Recordings In July of 2011, the city of Calimesa, CA destroyed one of the largest single video and audio UFO collections in the world in a single afternoon. The destruction took place by a team of guys wearing anti-bacterial suits and face masks. No, this isn’t a scene from some science fiction movie – this event really happened at a small house in Calimesa. Sherry, the woman that lived at the house, was found passed-away in the house on Tuesday. By Friday, the city had hired Ecology Control Industries (ECI) to clean out the house. Apparently, the condition of the house created such a health hazard – Sherry had owned a number of cats – that the crew had to wear white anti-bacterial suits and face masks over their mouth and nose. While this is something that you’d expect to see whenever a city needs to take care of a house that has become a health hazard in a community, the twist in this story is that stored in the garage was a lifetime collection of audio and video tapes and documents covering the subject of Ufology. The house was formerly owned by both Sherry and her former boyfriend – David Aaron. If you don’t recognize the name – David Aaron was well known, particularly in the 1990s, as the owner of a massive collection of amateur video and interviews covering UFOs called the “UFO video clearinghouse.” He gave a talk for MUFON titled “UFO Videos From Around The World”, and in 1994 he was quoted in a Time Magazine article about Harvard psychiatrist John Mack (1). The collection that was stored in the garage – directly in the path of the ECI trash removal crew – was David Aaron’s own collection, encompassing years of research, work and archiving. He has said that his collection that he started in 1986, included audio and video dated from 1947 up through 2005. Within hours, David Aaron’s collection would be lost forever, but not without a fight. This is why there should be more cooperation and sharing of information throughout the ufological community. Many ufo investigators and organizations keep all of the info they gather to themselves (like MUFON for instance, that keeps all of their info in the black hole hidden inside of their broom closet : and when they die or face some other unexpected disaster like this one, everything is lost. People should make copies of everything and share it with other people so we can all study it. Just think of all of the investigations and interviews that have been conducted over the past sixty years...all of the photographs and videos that have been taken, the physical evidence that has been gathered...we are probably talking about millions of cases here. Where is all of that evidence now? Slowly deteriorating like all the boxes of case files that MUFON used to have? Just imagine all of the info that has been lost.

Where is all of that evidence now? Slowly deteriorating like all the boxes of case files that MUFON used to have? Just imagine all of the info that has been lost. Little known but admitted to by several former staff at Denver Mufon HQ was when years ago (2006) James Carrion made a name for himself with the mufon BOD with his Pandora Project attempting to put many hundreds (or thousands) of mufon's paper files on to computer disk files. By the time the Project was supposidly completed, more than half of the paper files had been lost do to mold and neglect and could not be recovered. Case files, some reportedly famous lost forever. Case files sitting in cardboad boxes in garages. Exposed to humidity and mildew. I guess you can look at it as a glass half full. This is often the dirty underwear side of ufology. Conspiracy freaks site some shadow agency at work. Nothing so self flattering, just the usual ineptness. Reality is they foster and create an atmosphere of mistrust and paranoia were well meaning people end up working independently in parallel. Open loops. Repeating the same incompelete experiment. Everyone working in parallel and no one able to trust the other thinking they are the next agent Mulder. Budd Hopkins had the presence of mind to see that his life's work has been placed into the hands of a Leslie Kean (not a Carol Rainey). But such foresight is rare to nonexistant in ufology. The lost archives discussed here had another problem, how many people were really aware they even existed? Anyone even permitted to have access to these 'archives' so they could be a benefit to anyone? The article confuses an archive collection with hoarding. How many have ever visited a National Archive? I have, they are asessible to everyone. It is a special place. To see the original photos herebefore you only saw in books. Where did the author get them you think? What good is information being preserved hopefully to be shared if no one knows about it? These supposed 'archives' among dozens of stray house cats were lost already. Steve

Exactly...they were lost already. Hidden away from the world where nobody would ever see them again. I wonder how many other houses have garages and closets full of moldy UFO case files just waiting to be taken to the landfill? I know of at least a couple of them.
Leonard Stringield, who investigated the Cape Girardeau crash story, had years of investigations, interviews and research gathered up but when he died his parents took all of it and packed it away where nobody could ever see it. It's like they don't want people to see it...like they are embarassed that their son would be associated with a bunch of lunatics like those UFO people.
There was also a former UFO organization...I forget which one but it was one of the big ones that went belly up...and when the founder died all of the research and files got caught up in the middle of a huge custody dispute over who had the rights to it. The last I heard it was all crammed in some storage shed somewhere while the people are continuing to fight over it in the courts. I'm sure it will all be ruined before the case gets settled.

This incident makes me ask myself "why even bother to report a sighting "? It's frustrating !!!
Changes need to be made Imo. The main reason for people even reporting in the 1st place is because they want to know what it was they were seeing and if anyone else had sighted it also. If 2 separate reports of the same sighting are setting in 2 separate files, how will they ever be combined for data,,,especially if half the info is lost ?
Why not have a central data base for all reports and sightings ? Its not like all organizations and independant researchers would have to merge. I think in the long run it would help the entire ufo community in general ,,,,,,just my 2 cents. Of course because of mistrust, fame, and whatever other reasons,,,,, it probably isnt going to happen anytime soon ,,,,,unfortunately.

I don't claim to have much, but what I do have stays put. When I threw out 300 VHS tapes, my husband thought I was crazy. He said you managed to keep every single ufo tape you have horded up for 35 years... They just do not show the witnesses much any more as they have all passed away. I'm sure they are all stored somewhere. But who will ever see them again. I have tons of films with Hynek I would never part with. Share .?? Yes I wish I could share them but how?
I tried to find replica's on the internet to bring over here, but never find too much.. I will put a name in as a witness and nothing ever comes up. It is like their mouths have been closed forever. New witnesses today just seem to tromp down their stories with a lot of junk today and making it a whole new event, like the original never happened. Like the stupid nephew of Travis Walton.
I realize much is printed in books still, but where to look for them I'm lost.
My husband is always wanting to watch a old movie he liked, but they are gone. When I threw away his Father Goose with Gary Grant. I though the ceiling was going to cave in. Poor guy, we just do not have space where we live and I needed room.

There has to be a way to put those VHS tapes onto DVDs so they don't take up as much space. Perhaps one of our more computer literate peoples here would know?
