~rolls eyes~ Climate change. Indeed? We're all going to die because of climate change? The climate always changes. It always has, and it always will. Humans adapt to change better than most other animals. I think we'll be fine. If we become overpopulated and have some wars, famines and droughts, then the human population won't be too high anymore and we can rebuild again. This has been human history for thousands and thousands of years. We did it before, and we can do it again.

Heard a stand up comic on TV last night (sorry gapped on his name). Talking about the various things that will take us out....listed very detailed and rapidly (with some irony) audience laughed and laughed. Must be hard to be the stand up sane guy. The overall gist of his theory was that we were homo erectus, monkey-people - the aliens smartened us up enough to work for them then came back in 1947 (interesting date) and gave us technology including the computer. Could anyone rebuild a computer (and network) if the electricity were to go off for say, 50 years during a magnetic reversal? Interesting thought. Sorry I don't remember his name. Late night comedy hour, little figure inside the box in my living room ....half asleep...then it starts getting interesting...

An episode of twilight zone (or outer limits) left me stunned one night. The world was going to end..everyone knew it. By morning the planet would be destroyed. I think everyone had made this monumental decision to nuke each other but it was a done deal and there was no going back. The focus was on one man and his wife and their two children. Because the world was ending the man got his hands on two precious pills so that his children would not have to suffer. He could only get two and that night they gave the pills to their children. He and his wife woke the next morning in each others arms. Someone saw reason and no one pushed the button. They lived..their children did not. To me...it crawled across my 'survival' nerves. Until you take that last breath..you shouldn't worry about taking it..it may never come. The past is done..the future undecided..the present we need to live in

Jo, Sounds like the twilight zone. I thought this show was a little nerve racking. I do not remember this one .. It sure tops the rest of them. What children witness on TV was too unreal.. even back during this time. My Mother would say. What is wrong with Rod Sterlings mind anyway..she took us from the living room and let my Dad watch it. Stephen King is another, I would never watch, it had no meaning what soever. His crazy mind was worse yet. Pet cemetery.. Ha

A drug has been discovered which scientists believe can reverse the effects of premature ageing and could extend human life by more than a decade. Easter Island is one of the most remote places on Earth and found 2,000 miles off the coast of Chile Photo: REUTERS Rapamycin, which has been nicknamed the “forever young” drug, was created from a chemical found in the soil on Easter Island, one of the most remote places on Earth and 2,000 miles off the coast of Chile. It was used in experiments on children suffering from Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS), a rare genetic condition in which ageing is hyper-accelerated and sufferers die of “old age” at around 12 years. HGPS causes a dangerous process whereby a protein called progerin builds up in every cell of the body, causing them to age prematurely. Rapamycin cleaned the cells of progerin, which swept away the defects and left healthy cells. TO CONTINUE READING CLICK ON ABOVE LINK

What an eerie synchronicity. The people on Easter Island lived and propagated too well (and died after the last wood that would have allowed them to fish off shore was hacked down and burned). And in their soil - a longevity chemical? Too weird. Another experiment by the friendly aliens in the sky - put people in paradise and see how long it takes for them to turn it into hell?

www.stumbleupon.com/su/2LQL1r/www....D-%20have-bodies/The Easter Island “Heads” Have Bodies(Via Jason Scott.) Maybe this isn’t a newsflash to anyone but me, but, um, the Moai “heads” on Easter Island have bodies. Because some of the statues are set deep into the ground, and because the heads on the statues are disproportionately large, many people (myself included) tend to think of them as just big heads. But the bodies (generally not including legs, though there is at least one kneeling statue) are there — in many cases, underground. What’s even more interesting — there are petroglyphs (rock markings) that have been preserved below the soil level, where they have been protected from erosion. This research report has been making the rounds; it discusses recent progress by The Easter Island Statue Project to uncover, study, and catalogue two statues. It includes (among the dry details of the research) a day-by-day journal of the work, as well as remarkable photographs showing the petroglyphs and team members excavating. Above is an image from a previous excavation (source unknown) that shows you the scale of the statues, and how deep they were buried. (Note: visitors are prohibited from climbing on the Moai; the expedition pictured above appears to predate the EISP and the current practice of conservation.) That's the first time I have ever seen one of them fully excavated. Usually they just show the heads sticking out of the ground. I bet they weren't buried like that when they were first erected. They probably sank down into the ground over time just because of how heavy they are.
I also know that some of the "heads" used to have big hats and colored eyeballs. The hats were made out of stone and looked kind of like a sombrero and I think the eyes were made out of wood and coral so they were different colors.

This is really cool ! It makes me wonder what else is down there. Too bad they cant excavate the entire site. That just leaves room for our grandkids in the next generation to make new discoveries. Awesome !

FYI, the article mentions drought 70k years ago, but "One such event was the Toba super-volcano in Indonesia that erupted around 70,000 years ago, triggering a nuclear winter. Only an estimated 15,000 humans are thought to have survived."
Winters that last many years are well documented. There was a very long winter 3400 BC. of several years that preceded what we call history, which was caused by a meteorite strike.

This is what the statues looked like with their hats and eyeballs. Archaeologists have actually found some of the hats and eyes either buried underground or submerged in the ponds on the island. None of them were in place on the statues for some reason. I guess over time they just fell off or deteriorated to the point that they were no longer recognizable for what they were. The present day islanders may have removed them for whatever reasons also.

www.huliq.com/10282/alien-civilization-easter-island-speculated-wild-pacific-tv-seriesAlien civilization on Easter Island speculated by Wild Pacific TV seriesBy Dave Masko on 2012-09-12 A recent episode of “Wild Pacific” looked at the origins of species that live on Pacific Islands as possibly being linked to “extraterrestrials" who may have inspired Easter Island’s giant stones. Did extraterrestrials visit Earth, as both the French UFO study organization “COMETA” and the TV series "Wild Pacific" speculate? In turn, who built the giant stone “Moai” of Easter Island that’s been called “a solemn reminder of a fallen alien civilization?” While answers to these and other questions - that speculate about COMETA’s ongoing and in-depth study of UFOs still visiting Earth – can never be fully answered, states “Wild Pacific” narrator Mike Rowe. At the same time, viewers say it’s still fascinating to wonder who built those massive stone sculptures that may be apart of the true origins of species that now live on Pacific Islands. In turn, the Animal Planet Network import “Wild Pacific” – that’s called “Sound Pacific” back in England where this BBC series originates – featured the episode originally dubbed “Strange Islands” on Sept. 11; with UFOs fans wanting to check this documentary series episode out when its repeated later this month. "Wild Pacific" a British TV series that's “more wild” than you thinkThe “Wild Pacific” series continues on Animal Planet each Tuesday evening in primetime with episodes airing at 8/7c; while the network advices viewers to check local listing for repeat episodes from this documentary film series that features remote locations around the Pacific Ocean that are both entertaining and frightful. For example, this recent “Strange Islands” episode of Wild Pacific captured the imagination of more than two million British viewers when it first aired with the Easter Island “teaser,” and ongoing questions about the British government finally releasing its once top secret UFO files that back in 2010 numbered more than 8,000 documents. In turn, those once top secret UFO documents are now linked to tens of thousands of other once top secret UFO files that are now available for viewing here in the U.S., in England and over in France where COMETA is a respected "brand" for true UFO believers. Also, the famous “COMETA” report from a high-level French UFO study organization – that is composed of high-ranking French government military officers and officials – points directly to Easter Island as having “evidence for further in-depth studies of the extraterrestrial hypothesis.” COMETA looks deep at the Pacific Rim islands for alien lifeMoreover, with the great stone origins on Easter Island vexing experts for decades - as to “who built these giant stone statues and how did they get there on this remote Pacific Island” – the famed “COMETA Report” was very careful not to go too far in expressing theories about the French government’s extraterrestrial findings, or risk more claims of a hoax by the army of naysayers in today’s society who think the world “can’t handle the truth about UFOs and alien life on Earth.” In turn, the COMETA Report – that’s been updated in 2012 – concluded that “about five percent of the UFO cases studied were utterly inexplicable and the best hypothesis to explain them was alien life present here on Earth.” Also, with the French government having both former and current “colonies” in the Pacific region, it included that – as noted during the Sept. 11 airing of “Wild Pacific” – that the origins of species that live on many Pacific Islands today may have been “seeded” or influenced in some way by new findings about extraterrestrial “evidence” that both COMETA and WikiLeaks have yet to make public. Been there several times andd it was interesting but "mysterious", the whole island is more than "mysterious", it's downright "spooky". I've never been one that had an overactive imgination, though being "psychic' does have it's drawbacks, I couldn't shake the feeling that "someone' or "something" was there too but just what "it" was, I have no clue but don't ask me to spend a night alone on that island because I darn sure won't.

www.ancient-code.com/the-collapse-of-easter-island-society/ The Collapse Of Easter Island Societyby Ivan Petricevic · 17/01/2015 Scientists led by Prof Thegn Ladefoged of the University of Auckland have proposed a study that challenges the leading hypothesis on the demise of the Easter Island society. According to the research, significant changes occurred in land use and population dynamics long before the European discovered the island. These extreme changes were not caused by natural disaster but were the result of the environmental constraints of the small sized island. Moai facing inland at Ahu Tongariki, restored by Chilean archaeologist Claudio Cristino in the 1990s. Image credit Wikipedia “The results of our research were really quite surprising to me,” said Prof Ladefoged, who is the senior author of the paper published online in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. During the research, Prof Ladefoged and his team analysed over four hundred obsidian artefacts that have provided important details about the island and the way of life. One of the main goals of the research was to better understand the islands timeline, focusing on three main sites from which they had good information about the composition of the soil, and climatic conditions, recovering large samples of artifacts. Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed as an extrusive igneous rock, produced when felsic lava extruded from a volcano cools rapidly with minimum crystal growth. Obsidian is commonly found within the margins of rhyolitic lava flows known as obsidian flows. Obsidian absorbs water after being exposed to air, that way researchers were able to measure the amount of water in the obsidian determining when they were made.
