This is fascinating. It's another of those weird lights, like the Marfa Lights, that show up in isolated places for unknown reasons. This one is just a few miles away from Joplin, Missouri. I had never heard of it until I spotted this article about it. www.prairieghosts.com/devprom.htmlIt sounds like they have done quite a bit of research on it and have documented its existence all the way back to the 1800s. Of course the skeptics are already saying that it is just car headlights like they say about everything else but there weren't any cars way back then. Perhaps one of our Missouri members might be able to cruise down to Joplin and check it out. Or maybe I will cruise up there and check it out myself. I go through Joplin every now and then.

mysteriousuniverse.org/2013/05/the-missouri-spook-light/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-missouri-spook-light The Missouri Spook Light[/color] May 20, 2013 Jason Offutt The setting is unimpressive. A gravel road lined by trees and weed-choked ditches connects Newton County in the southwest corner of Missouri, with equally rural parts of Oklahoma. This is County Road E50, better know as Spook Light Road. And something that is impressive happens there often. The Spook Light, found south of Joplin, Missouri, is a glowing orb the size of a basketball that floats down the road from Oklahoma. If you’re sitting in a car waiting for the light, it often dances on the hood of the car, winks out, and reappears behind the car like it had gone right through the cab. The locals say this happens a lot. Roberta Williams, from nearby Carthage, Missouri, has seen the Spook Light, and she knows it’s real. “It was before midnight,” she said. “It was like a big, huge ball with a yellow glow and it went right straight through our car. I just screamed.” According to local legend, two Quapaw Indian lovers, chased by warriors and an angry father, jumped from a cliff into the Spring River and died. The Spook Light is supposedly one of the young American Indians walking this quiet road searching for their lost love. The light gained prominence when white settlers moved into the southwest corner of Missouri in 1886, but the local American Indians reported seeing the light in the early 1800s, said historian Virginia Hoare of Seneca, Missouri. People have seen the light ever sense. CONTINUE READING: mysteriousuniverse.org/2013/05/the-missouri-spook-light/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-missouri-spook-light

I started a thread about this one a long time ago. It used to be known as the "Hornet Light." Not sure why they no longer call it that. I'm hoping to go up there and check it out in either June or July. I have some vacation time coming up and I need to use it. I haven't taken a vacation in years.

I started a thread about this one a long time ago. It used to be known as the "Hornet Light." Not sure why they no longer call it that. I'm hoping to go up there and check it out in either June or July. I have some vacation time coming up and I need to use it. I haven't taken a vacation in years. Although it would be over an hour further,You're more then welcome when you come up this way to stop by for some breakfast, dinner, coffee, or just a "howdy" (or all the above) . ;D If you like to fish, I know some great locations also. The last time I went night fishing Ray and I saw that ufo so if you ever do happen to night fish around me and one shows up,,,don't be surprised and say I didn't at least warn you,,,,it honestly wouldn't surprise me in the very least. ;D ;D I've been through the Joplin area many times over the years, even recently but I haven't checked this phenomena out yet or seen anything while in the immediate area. It would be awesome to get a video/picture to share or just to even get a glimpse of it. If it came through the car that would be bizarre, but cool also ( and kind of freaky). From the article Besides possible explanations mentioned in the article, I've heard people attempt or try to explain or guess these and other sightings locally throughout the years to be caused by sources such as swamp gas,,,,high abundance of iron ore causing a yet unexplained electro or geomagnetic disturbance,,,, seismic instability deep in the Earth causing minor tectonic plate shifts which occasionally release gases escaping from trapped pockets which are then released through crevices or other small openings such as caves (which there are many locally). Indian or other spirits is as good a guess as any other also imo. I'm curious if any witnesses have ever reported smelling anything out of the ordinary when exposed to the immediate vicinity,,,,, or if perhaps compasses spin or change polarity,,,,,, if temperatures change or fluctuate,,,,,,, or if radiation readings have ever been taken when in the immediate or near proximity to the orbs. Static would be another. I wonder if there's a particular time of month/year/ (time cycle) when it increases/decreases in activity. At least one or even better, a few game camera's or other types of image monitoring devices may increase the chances of a photo or video capture of the object(s). From the article- If scientific tests are eventually conducted and enough evidence is found, it will be interesting to read follow up reports and perhaps maybe even hear what hypothesis or theory may be reached as a result after data has been thoroughly analyzed. Skywalker, hopefully you will see it and maybe even get pictures or videos. It will be interesting to hear what you make of this phenomena if you get a chance to check out. Good luck and enjoy your vacation when you finally do! You deserve it ! ;D Have some fun ! ;D ;D ;D
