The physical form of a grey can tell us things about its home world. What is obvious is that it is basicly similar to a human with all the human traits two arms, two legs, two eyes. mouth nose, etc. This is rather remarkable if you assume that greys come from another star system. GReys have hands like primates and elbows having looked at a greys foot close up it appears arched and may have toes as well. the body of a grey is proportioned as a human with longer legs and shorter arms. Again consider that they originated independent of humans. The odd part of a grey is its head shape and its eyes. the body morph suggests a possible tree dweller origin who later adapted to plains life walking on its rear legs. Rather too human. the large eyes suggest a darker world needing more light intake. Perhaps the alien sun is too hot during the day and they came out in twilight. The eyes of a grey face forward and are not like a horses eyes adapted to looking for predators while running. The mouth is small as is the nose i do not recall seeing teeth or ears for that matter. Over all the shape of a grey is remarkably human except for the head. The skin coloring suggests a twilight like environment were skin pigment is not important. No one has ever reported a grey with a sun tan. they wear protective suits in daylight but breath our atmosphere which again remarkable if you consider an off world origin. they also have black finger nails which is odd.

Black fingernails? Really?
Wow. This is a very interesting post Randy.
I think the creepiest thing about the grays I saw was the length of their arms and fingers... the elbows also appeared to be jointed differently from ours but I couldn't tell you how...

People report a wide variety of grays, such as the long arms often reported and the short arms that Randy is reporting.
The humanoid form is archetypal and would likely evolve on countless worlds.
The eyes facing forward are an evolutionary sign of a predator, as opposed to the eyes at the sides implying fleeing from a predator,: though often predators are preyed upon by other predators.
There eyes might imply a nocturnal creature.
We do not know the level of genetic engineering in their history. It is likely that they are modified for life in space, so the head size compared to body size might imply a different gravity. They are reported to be able to move fast and jump high in our gravity, but may have artificial energy fields around them.

Based on some of their physical characteristics I would guess that they probably live on a world with less sunlight than ours. That would explain the large eyes and light skin color. It might also explain why they always sneak around at night rather than in broad daylight, as well as why they are often reported being seen underground or in caves here on Earth.
The large head is a consequence of a larger brain and more intelligence. Humans also have a large head for their bodies, especially as children. Their skinny bodies and reported great strength could be a sign that the gravity on their planet is stronger than ours.

Sunbow- you are absolutely right that all predators (on this planet at least) have their eyes placed in the front and closer together so they are able to triangulate distances- this gives them the ability to have "depth perception".
However-
There ARE herbivores on this world who also have their eyes placed in this way-
Monkeys.
Why?
So they can grab onto tree branches and swing from vines... not so they can chase their prey...
So- it is possibly they are NOT predators also...

I thought skinny bodies might imply greater gravity. Look at the almost skeletal fish that exist in the depths of our oceans - big eyes, spindly bodies (but big mouths and lots of teeth). No one has reported an ET (that I've read) that resembles Sigoney Weaver's alien. We still have more teeth than most of us have room for (wisdom teeth). They don't seem to be able to open their mouths very wide or show any sign of teeth. Randy??? Did you ever look in a gray's mouth??? See them take nourishment in any fashion???

Most monkeys occasionally eat meat, they are not good at getting it. Some use sticks to pull termites from hills. Gorillas form hunting packs annually for a short time, then return to their other diet. I am not saying their eyes mean they are predators, however intelligence often develops from a richer diet of meat.
There is the possibility that they have engineered themselves to the point of not really being like they naturally evolved.

Some has stated the eyes closed differently, sort of like a bird closes its eyes. strange we never move our bottom lids. Except with face expressions.. I heard this told back in the 70s by many. Some one made or showed a alien from Roswell , his eyes did close this way. Not the interview gray, this was on locked up in some room.
Randy have you ever seen a gray close its eyes with the bottom lid coming up to meet the top lid??
