UFO
In the 1950 book Behind the Flying Saucers by Frank Scully (an author known for his work in Variety), he chronicles various UFO incidents, including one that took place in Aztec, New Mexico, in 1948. Although in 1952 True Magazine exposed that Scully had been hoaxed, the four stories in the book have remained a part of UFO legend. One the four incidents supposedly took place in Aztec, New Mexico, in 1948—one year after the famous UFO crash in Roswell, New Mexico.
In his book, Scully claims to have obtained information from the UFO incident from one Dr. Gee (supposedly exposed as an oil con man). Gee told Scully about a location in Aztec where a UFO had crashed. The UFO measured exactly 99.99 feet in diameter and its lightweight exterior was supposedly made of a shiny, metallic material that could not be dented.
According to this Dr. Gee, the UFO was recovered and scientists studied it. They found that the craft’s hull was one big piece, with no types of welds or other connective tissue (bolts, rivets, and so on) found. Navigation was possibly magnetic, as the craft possessed metallic rings that rotated about a central room.
In addition to the UFO, the scientists were also given a chance to study the bodies of 16 dead alien beings. These beings were small (height varied from 36 to 42 inches) and had been heavily burned. Research on the UFO and the aliens supposedly took place at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, a location common to UFOs.
