It's been 40 years.... On March 29, 1973, the last United States troops left South Vietnam, ending America's direct military involvement in the Vietnam War.

Recently in Florida a member of Planned Parenthood argued for what is called Post birth abortion rights. The baby under that idea can be killed after live birth at the mothers whimsy. We are being lead by complete raving lunatics who seem to worship death and revel in it. They cant wait to kill helpless people

And I agree...this is the ravings of a lunatic..not the majority. Just because a nut case babbles something incredibly stupid ...doesn't mean he is leading ANYONE but himself...if that's true at all. Only a nut would believe that kind of nut. IMO

Please be advised that I did read it on the internet that it happened in Florida at a hearing. It was a representative of Planned Parent hood, I found it very outrageous. True I was not at the hearing but it is a reliable news source. We are after all at the mercy of the media for accurate reporting. there are Jack Kavorkians in the world. I did not invent it

I did not invent it I read that article too Randy. It was very disturbing. It actually happened Auntym. The credible news source I learned it from was Fox News. Here's a video clip of the hearing in Florida- it shows the Planned Parenthood representative speaking in her own words- unedited: Apparently the Lobbyist representing Planned Parenthood is testifying against the "born-alive infants protection act". Basically she is saying an infant who is born alive due to a botched abortion in an abortion clinic setting should not be protected by this act...

The law in most states says that if a baby is born and takes a breath it is alive and if you kill it that is murder. From what I understand the only way for the death of an infant to be legal (not considered murder) in most places is if the infant dies inside the mother... but once it is outside of the mother what happens?
What a horrible scenario... if the baby survives an abortion attempt- what should be done? Should the baby be protected? Should it be whisked to a hospital? Should desperate measures be taken to save its life? Should they simply let it die because its mother doesn't want it to live...
It really makes one think. How often has this actually happened? What was the outcome in these situations? What will be the outcome of this type of situation be in the future?
Abortions are usually performed during the first trimester. If an abortion is performed during the first trimester this shouldn't be an issue because a fetus that young would not survive outside of the mother's body...
So why is a Planned Parenthood Lobbyist testifying against this act? Legal abortions will not be affected by this act because there is no way a 3 week old fetus could possibly survive this procedure...
It makes my head spin just thinking about it... WHY is she saying this?

I wasn't saying some fool didn't come off with that remark Lor. I was saying we are absolutly not ruled by people who think like that (unless we subscribe to it). As with every issue from gun control to religion.. on down..planned parenthood has it's nut cases, extremists and igannant fools. Does anyone here..think a bill to legalize infant murder (botched abortion or not) would pass? That would be a political career killer..because most of the country is religious. I wasn't saying Randy didn't see this article..I am saying it's relatively similar to the 'running-mate' who came up with the idea that raped victims can't get pregnant. As Auntie might say...pure krap There is a voice within if you listen, that would be saying..if it didn't die...if it breathes outside of the womb..it IS alive..and chances of success or not...there is moral obligation to try and save it. IMO I am not opposed to abortion if a person decides that they want to persue that avenue..I AM opposed to the murder of any child born alive even if your intention was to kill it. Yep it could spin the brain.

That would be a political career killer..because most of the country is religious. I wasn't saying Randy didn't see this article..I am saying it's relatively similar to the 'running-mate' who came up with the idea that raped victims can't get pregnant. Yea, that dude ticked me off too... how can a single human being be THAT stoopid?! But saying all conservatives are idiots like that guy is equally stoopid- just like saying all employees at Planned Parenthood agree with this gal caught on camera saying something dumb... As a person who has worked in customer service for several years I can attest to the fact that there are A LOT of people in this world who seem to have the IQ of a peanut... and they seem to exist and breed in shockingly large numbers... As Auntie might say...pure krap There is a voice within if you listen, that would be saying..if it didn't die...if it breathes outside of the womb..it IS alive..and chances of success or not...there is moral obligation to try and save it. I believe that abortions are wrong- even during the first trimester- but I've given it much thought over the years and I have decided that if a woman wants to have an abortion I'm not going to stand in her way, nor should the government. That choice is between the woman and God. That choice is between the doctor who performs the procedure and God. It has nothing to do with me- it has nothing to do with the government. I try to be a Libertarian rather than a Dem or Repub in most things concerning the government... One of my high school friends invited me to dinner over at her house when I was 19. Her mother told me she had had an abortion back during the 70s and she told me she has been regretting that decision ever since. She said she often thinks about the child she might have had and what he/she would have done with his/her life... she has also suffered a lot of pelvic problems because of the procedure and was afraid for awhile that she would not be able to have children again due to complications... IMO I am not opposed to abortion if a person decides that they want to persue that avenue..I AM opposed to the murder of any child born alive even if your intention was to kill it. Yep it could spin the brain. It does... where is the line drawn?

THIS IS CRAP... & now i will add... i can't believe she was representing planned parenthood...i bet she's looking for another job today ... i totally agreed with jo's comments...

news.discovery.com/animals/dinosaurs/billionaire-plans-park-giant-dinosaurs-130330.htm Billionaire Plans Park of Giant Dinosaurs by AFP Mar 30, 2013 An eccentric Australian mining magnate who is building a replica of the ill-fated Titanic has unveiled his latest scheme -- a park of giant robotic dinosaurs. Clive Palmer, who last month in New York launched an ambitious plan to build and sail the "Titanic II", said he had ordered more than 100 life-size dinosaur robots from China to populate his north Australian resort. NEWS: Biggest Dinosaur Had Tennis Ball-Size Brain news.discovery.com/animals/dinosaurs/dinosaurs-had-tennis-ball-sized-brains-130124.htm"We'll have the world's biggest dinosaur exhibit, with 165 animatronic dinosaurs," Palmer said. He already has two of the towering creatures -- named Jeff and Bones -- on display at his Palmer Coolum Resort on the Sunshine coast north of Brisbane and boasted that the public "haven't seen anything yet." The robots, some of which measure up to 7 meters tall and weigh in excess of 1.2 tons, will move their tails and chests and blink their eyes. They are expected to arrive by the end of April. A larger-than-life character who has made a fortune in mining, Palmer said recently that he was funding the Titanic II because "I want to spend the money I've got before I die." news.discovery.com/animals/dinosaurs/billionaire-plans-park-giant-dinosaurs-130330.htm

I like the above guy already. One of my relatives tried to dig a B29 out of the Greenland Ice cap repair it and fly it home He got it dug out and unfortunately while testing an engine the plane caught fire and burned. No fire dept handy. It was a great notion though People need to have a touch of greatness in them to be interesting

Probably no one reading this has heard of the battle of Tsushima fought during the Russian Japanese war but it is worth noting as it was the first major battle between steamships and the last encounter fought entirely on the surface of the water as no planes or subs were involved. The Japanese had captured Port Arthur the Russian Navy base and the Russian fleet had sailed from the west to arrive too late to save the Russian base. The two fleets were evenly balanced but the Russian ships were carrying deck cargos of coal and in poor repair. The Japanese ships were handled with audacity and crossed the Russian T and then paralled the Russian ships traveling in the opposite direction. The Japanese fleet under Admiral Togo sank or captured all 8 Russian battleships and most of the rest of the Russian fleet. At a cost of 110 killed the Japanese destroyed the Russian fleet. Later Admiral Yamamoto of WWII fame was wounded as a young officer losing the fingers of one hand in the battle. This battle is still well known in Japan is a point of honor for them

www.mtwain.com/Advice_To_Little_Girls/0.html Advice To Little Girls by Mark Twain date: 1865 Good little girls ought not to make mouths at their teachers for every trifling offense. This retaliation should only be resorted to under peculiarly aggravated circumstances. If you have nothing but a rag-doll stuffed with sawdust, while one of your more fortunate little playmates has a costly China one, you should treat her with a show of kindness nevertheless. And you ought not to attempt to make a forcible swap with her unless your conscience would justify you in it, and you know you are able to do it. You ought never to take your little brother's "chewing-gum" away from him by main force; it is better to rope him in with the promise of the first two dollars and a half you find floating down the river on a grindstone. In the artless simplicity natural to this time of life, he will regard it as a perfectly fair transaction. In all ages of the world this eminently plausible fiction has lured the obtuse infant to financial ruin and disaster. If at any time you find it necessary to correct your brother, do not correct him with mud--never, on any account, throw mud at him, because it will spoil his clothes. It is better to scald him a little, for then you obtain desirable results. You secure his immediate attention to the lessons you are inculcating, and at the same time your hot water will have a tendency to move impurities from his person, and possibly the skin, in spots. If your mother tells you to do a thing, it is wrong to reply that you won't. It is better and more becoming to intimate that you will do as she bids you, and then afterward act quietly in the matter according to the dictates of your best judgment. You should ever bear in mind that it is to your kind parents that you are indebted for your food, and for the privilege of staying home from school when you let on that you are sick. Therefore you ought to respect their little prejudices, and humor their little whims, and put up with their little foibles until they get to crowding you too much. Good little girls always show marked deference for the aged. You ought never to "sass" old people unless they "sass" you first. Despite circumstances people will react as they have been taught to react even to the point of self destruction. Most people are aware that a new radar post detected the incoming Japanese planes coming to attack Pearl Harbor. this incoming flight of planes was reported to higher ups and it was ignored as it was just to far out of the ordinary such things as an air attack were unthinkable. A peace time mentality was in vogue. Finally at war and attacking the Japanese held island of Guadacanal a force of Allied cruisers and destroyers settled in for the night of Aug 8,1942 off the island protecting the attack transports. Two destroyers were on patrol going back and forth to the north like sentrys walking a beat to warn of any Japanese actions Approaching to attack was a force of Japanese crusisers and destroyers under Admiral Mikawa that was about equal to the allied force. Look outs in the Japanese force had been picked from the best men in the fleet and they saw the two destroyers on patrol and the Japanese slipped past unseen launching scout planes the Allied ships were located in two groups. These planes were sighted and basicly ignored by the Allied officers on duty at the time. On cue the float planes dropped flares and the Japanese pounded the first group of Allied ships hard. While this was going on the flares, gun flashes and rumble of battle were noted by the second group of Allied ships who reacted slowly taking their time in going to full alert. leaving the first group of allied ships the Japanese fell on the next group equally hard despite their having noted the attack on the first group Then having disposed of the two groups of Allied warships the Japanese instead of attacking the transports turned and ran for itl they had no air cover and wanted to be out of range of aircraft by dawn. had they attacked the transports history would have been different. The Allies lost 4 cruisers sunk and 2 destoryers damaged. 1077 men were killed while the Japanese lost 58 killed. The battle of Savo is not well advertised due to the one sided nature or the loses. The lose was blamed on a lingering peace time lethargy of mind that produced a confidence without readiness. People fell back on routine peace time standards of conduct, ignoring the reality of the situation. The idea that they were being attacked just did not sink in. Ignoring what is obvious is not restricted to WWII. It continues on in our society and in our leadership. On an individual basis an experienced hiker got lost in a wilderness area. He knew fires were not allowed so he did not build one and suffered from hypothermia as a result. he neglected to even try to make a shelter for himself. He could not accept the reality of the situation had changed the rules of the game he spent 5 nights in the wilderness without a fire or shelter following a peace time mood of conduct. fires were not allowed period he suffered from hypothermia, dehydration and lack of food. In 5 days he was rescued and had lost 30 pounds he could not accept that the rules of the game had changed completely.

During the Japanese Russian war of 1904 the Japanese used an "aircraft ship" to provide air support for there troops fighting the Russians around Port Arthur. This was the first use of an aircraft carrier in combat as the planes could take off and land on the ship

During Easter of 1916 Irish nationalists staged a rebellion in Dublin primarily and to a lesser extent in other areas About 1.200 rebels took over govt buildings hoping that with England occupied by WWI they could pull it off. A German ship bringing them arms was sunk before it could deliver the cargo to the rebels. About an equal number of Brtiish troops were in Dublin. They failed to seize the railroad stations and sea port facilities and the British used these to send in massive reinforcements. The local irish were caught unprepared and failed to do much in the rebellion Some saw little fighting while others fought fiercely. 17 men holding a canal crossing shot over 240 British troops attacking their positions Other nearly by crossings were undefended but ignored by the British Fighting at the post office became full scale war as artillary and machine guns swept the streets to which the rebels could reply with home made bombs and rifle fire. the quick nature of the decision to rebel by the irish caused many mistakes to be made that were fatal to them. Seizing an arms depot they fail to had out the guns in it. In the middle of the fightng at the post office people lined up to get their weekly dole money. the build was on fire and being hit by shells but they could not conceive that the dole money was not there. the welfare mentality at its peak. Finally numbers and force of arms told and the rebels had to surrender. It was a gallent effort by the nationalists but poorly planned in haste. Lack of planning was its down fall.

The history of Africa is rich with adventure and human folly. I have read Stanleys books and others from the 1800s and followed them as they plunged into the unknown. The Kikuyu of Kenya loved secret societys and magic ritual In the early 1950s the Mau Mau grew in the tribe to a powerful force that fomented rebellion and guerilla war against the British. At first they killed only those tribal membes who were loyal to the British is ghastly methods. Finally they killed a white woman in Oct 1952 This resulted in a state of emergency being declared and the Kings African Rifles were sent to help preserve order. As in all such wars murder and massacre by both sides resulted. Some daring british officers dyed their skin and hair and with real Mau Mau that had switched sides they penetrated the Mau Mau bands. some hairy adventures resulted as they passed for Mau Mau The Locals were placed in secured villages or imprisoned. Gradually the rebellion died down. Jomo Kenyata who invented his name from the word made by rasp of a drawn sword and the term meaning son of Kenya was imprisoned as the head of Mau Mau. Year later when he died the headlines said "Key African Moderate dies" The head of Mau Mau was labelled as a moderate? Probably Obamas extended family was involved in the rebellion. The origine of the term Mau Mau has been debated and is believed to have been an error when such a meeting was raid by the police and they asked what group it was the leader said Mau Mau meaning out out. In other words get out of here. The police took it as the name of the group. Kenya was taken to Britain after the rebellion and made the howdy tours. He consummed a quart of whiskey a day and married a few women while there. Former Mau Mau are now suing the British for millions in court for alleged brutality during the war. Such is life

The Samurai of Japan were a warrior people who are as far removed from present day America as any space alien race None off our Congressional leaders are even close to a Samurai child. A baby born into the Samurai culture was given a sword talisman to wear from the begining. At Age three a boy would begin practice with a wooden sword. At age five he would get a real sword to wear and get his first haircut. Between the ages of 13 to 16 he would receive his first adult hair cut, sword and armor. His education would take place usually at a school where he learned the basics plus was trained in various schools of fighting. the fore head area was shaved and the back hair worn in a pony tale. the code by which he lived and died was Bushido or the way of the warrior. Initially verbal tradiitions it demanded absolutely loyalty and bravery. The weapons of he samurai were sword, spear and bow. they commonly carried a short sword called a Tanto and a longer one called a Katana. Samurai women were not given formal education but ran the estate when the husband was away. They received martial arts training also especally with the spear and dagger. they also used long hair pins as improvised weapons. Special fighting techniques were devised using flutes and fans as weapons. The Samurai was expected to be able to deal a death blow drawing his sword. Samurai women often fought with their husbands in battle. Some women became noted warriors. Honor was a major thing with Samurai which is why I say they are totally alien to our leaders in Washington there was much more to Samurai but that is the basics.

Today is the 20th anniversary of Waco in which a group American citizens died in a fire while surrounded by The Feds. There is a very interesting film that was put out on that subject that is not for the faint hearted as they have close up analysis of victims of the siege. There is so much that was misrepresented at the time that I am surprised that the public did not rise up in outrage. BATF was being looked at with the idea of disbanding it, in favor of the FBI taking over its duties. It needed headlines like Ruby Ridge only the big one the big public event. Rather than take the leader fo the Branch Davidians out jogging they chose a public event a mass raid on the compound. the excuse was that the dangerous cult was making machine guns and grenades for some evil purpose. They never did show a machine gun or grenade so made after the fire. It was series of blunders from start to finish. Of the 4 agents killed three were killed by friendly fire and probably the fourth as well in a panic of cherry agents at the compound door Agents had been told to kill the dogs around the compound and hearing the shots the agents at the door paniced and ran shooting wildly behind them killing their own men. Later special forces we in the build at night and could have grabbed the leader but this was denied in favor of a more showy event. There is an infrared film taken from the air during the final fire that shows a tank ramming the building wall supported by infantry firing machine guns. The muzzle flashes were counted. Also explosions like grenades were present. The only fire free exit from the building was covered by gun fire and bodies were stacked up there died by gun fire. It was not determined who shot them. Speical forces had placed a shaped charge on the roof of the church records vault where the women and kids were. This was set off as a mercy killing of the people inside it. the explosions is visable on films of the fire. All in all it was a massacre. I have left much out but after Waco they intended to raid the hare Kristna headquarters for a supposed arms arsenal stored there. Saner forces stopped that in the wake of the Waco disaster

On this date in 1889 at the Gasthouse zum Pommern in Braunau Austria, Alois and Clara HItler had a son born to them. This one man set in motion events that killed millions and changed the history of the world. From a homeless tramp in Vienna to Master of Europe for a period of time. Did we learn anything?

Sadly, I say to you .... NO. Up until the Boston event I would have said yes people are coming around, but I have lost some of my hope in humanity again if only for a brief moment...nevertheless, it is lost. When things like this happen, it tips the balance between good intentions and bad to favor the bad. How can we ever grow and evolve as a species when it still makes sense to kill anyone? Many see this as a time of remembering and rejoicing, I see it as a time to mourn. The families of the 3 that died, the injured victims, the people who simply had to endure such a horrific event, the dead accused young man, his family, his young brother now being held by guards in an ICU ward, for humanity as a whole, with all the death and war that goes on somewhere daily. Yes, I am truly mourning ... and NO we haven't learned much, yet.

yesterday was the high holy day of the French Foreign Legion, Camaroon Day which is marked with elaborate ceremony celebrating the battle of Camaroon. Back in the days of Maximilium in Mexico about 65 legionares fought over 2000 rebels at some ruins called Camaroon. Vastly our numbered the fighting was savage and soon only 4 French were left with only one bullet each. the leader of the rebels demanded their surrender. Their answer was stand up and fire their last bullets and then they charged with the bayonet. Too the last bullet and to the last man. The leader of the French Capt De Anjou had a wooden hand which was recovered at the battle site. This relic is in a glass case and displayed on Camaroon day. the battle was considered to be in the best tradtiion of the legion. To the last man

to appeal to the allies for peace talks in Oct 1918 Prince Max of Baden was chosen Chancellor of Germany. Prince Max announced to the world that the Kaiser had abdicated and the crown prince had renounced the throne. Problem was they had not done that at all. Prince Max had invented it. Then prince Max walked up to Ebert head of the Social Democrat party and casually said he now was head of Germany. Thus in one slick move prince Mas had taken power from the Kaiser and given it to the Social Democrats. Undermined the Kaiser left Germany. Following this karl Liebkencht and Rosa Lumemburg (the red rose) raised the Spartacus revolt and Germany slide into civil disorder with various Freicorps fighting communists in the street and Uncle Adi was starting his march to power.. After the American civil war a troop of Union cavalry stopped at the home of exconferate genral Nathn Bedford Forrest to visit. Despite the was Forrest was on friendly terms with Union cavalry officers. The generals war horse was grazing in the yard and on seeing the blue uniforms the horse attacked the Federals biting and kicking until they had to retreat out of the yard. The war horse had not forgeotten the war even if the general had. Blue uniforms were the enemy

Way back in the 1920s a hairy chested geologist set out on an expedition to Mongolia to look for dinosaur fossils. He was Roy Chapman Andrews. Not only did he find fantastic dinosaur fossils he also found land peopled by nomadic tribes and war lords with bandits thrown in for seasoning. Mongolia of that era was a wild land and it took a strong person to survive there. Once camping in a crater by a pool of water they looked up and saw in the moon light hundreds of pit vipers coming to their campfires to get warm. they slept in the trucks that night. Once interesting person they delt wtih was a war lord known as Baron Von Ungren. They had to pay him off to travel in his area. I have read other books that mention this war lord but I have never learned what happened to him. Given his name he could have been a German military advisory hired by China to train its army but who then set out on his own and created an empire. Bandits wiped out other groups traveling in the area but left them alone. Andrews was featured in national geographic magazine and wrote a book on his travels which I read about 40 yrs ago. I do not recall he title of the book but it is a good read

Britain not happy with gun cotrol is now pushing knife control. All the same arguments for gun control are now being applied to knife control. Pointy kitchen knives are the drug dealers weapon of choide, Doctors are encouraged to speak out agains knife violence etc etc etc. Knife control is not new in the early 1400s the emperor of China did not trust the people with knives so he said let them eat with sticks in grand emperor fashion thus chop sticks came into being. At one time most people in Japan owned swords and weaponsthen the nobles felt the people could not be trusted wtih swords so they instituted the great sword hunt. the idwa was to melt down the swords into plows. Where have we heard that before. The people were disarmed and most of the swords put into storage. thus disarmed the people shifted to fighting styles that used such things as fans and flutes as deadly weapons. War fans became popular. There is nothing new under the sun.
