My short and basic review of 'The Facade' by Dr. Michael S. Heiser is: Buy the book! It is full of intriguing ufology perspectives while containing a thought provocative story that winds its characters through virtually everything UFO. The novel is an easy, entertaining read. For my longer and more detailed review, keep reading.
The book
'The Facade' is a most interesting book from several well conceived perspectives. Its author presents a cast of intelligent characters, each of which possess their own skill sets and areas of expertise. The talented individuals are brought together as a team and tasked with outlining the long awaited and much anticipated 'disclosure' protocol. However, it becomes increasingly apparent that all is not as it seems, resulting in the team collectively reviewing the UFO phenomenon and evaluating its credibility amid mounting danger and intrigue.
It's good stuff, guys. The assembled men and women research and share notes on several topics chronically at the forefront of ufology. Readers are certain to both enjoy and relate to the progressing discoveries and resulting debates.
Topics explored by the team and competently put into the storyline include a relatively hypothetical theory on cattle mutilations. Hypothetical as it may be, the theory is intelligently conceived and remarkably all inclusive of the key data available on the subject. Actually, it is brilliant.
Such topics as Roswell, the Battle of Los Angeles, propulsion systems, nanotechnology and mind control also make appearances. Team members cite actual documentation in many instances.
The capable characters are subsequently given presentations on top secret circumstances, apparently to convince them of a need for the elusive disclosure they have been charged with designing. Dr. Heiser brings us along for the ride as the team members formulate perspectives and defend their points of view. They hold discussions on aliens and the paranormal, and, as all who have participated in such discussions know, their inevitable evolution into contemplations of religion and spirituality. Team members present information contained in scriptures and ancient texts for the consideration of their colleagues and, of course, the reader.
Though the characters are intelligent and talented, they, like the rest of us, are not without adverse personal histories that can detrimentally affect the present and future. Unfolding circumstances provide team members opportunities on which to reflect from a number of perspectives, as the events described and their related metaphors are likely to inspire in the reader as well.
Conclusions
'The Facade' earns its label of supernatural thriller, as well as presents an intriguing view of ufology, but it is also much more than either of those. It is a work in which the author cleverly utilizes a cast of fictional characters to present actual research, express a variety of perspectives, demonstrate dynamics playing out within the field and more. Ufology would be well served to take notice of the strategy Dr. Heiser employed to speak his peace. As we are informed on the cover of the book:
Every person in 'The Facade' other than the characters are real.
Every government document in 'The Facade' is authentic.
Every ancient text discussed in 'The Facade' actually exists.
Every technology in 'The Facade' is under development.
The novel flows and is an easy read, even in these times of short tweets and abbreviated text messages. I eagerly completed the book in just a few sittings. 'The Facade' is highly recommended, not only for entertainment value, of which it is worthy, but as an example of how competent research and resulting ideas may be effectively voiced in most creative and reader-friendly manners.
Part two of this post will contain an interview with the book's author, a scholar in the fields of biblical studies and the ancient Near East. Dr. Heiser will share his thoughts on the possibilities of intelligent non-human beings, the powers that be, his experience within ufology and more.
