www.presidentialufo.com/barack-h-obama/534-podesta-back-at-white-house Podesta Back at White House Written by Grant Cameron Wednesday, 11 December 2013 According to Time Magazine former Obama advisor John Podesta is back at the White House as an advisor. According to the Time reporter the return will not be without disagreements between the two men. One of the disagreements will be the subject of UFOs. Podesta is back at the White House but at Odds with Obama over UFO secrecy according to Time Reporter swampland.time.com/2013/12/10/podesta-and-obama-disagree/This return of the "openness in government" Podesta come only days after President Obama again went to the edge with a joke about UFOs. This time it was a reference to Area 51 where alien bodies and flying saucer back-engineering technologies are supposed to be housed. Obama stated that he was on record as being the first President to mention the words Area 51 in public, which is no major release as the term Area 51 was declassified some months ago. The statement was made as a joke in preparation for an award being given to actress and UFO advocate Shirley MacLaine, who was trilled at receiving the award and the Obama joke. www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/12/09/obama-area-51_n_4412310.htmlwww.presidentialufo.com/barack-h-obama/534-podesta-back-at-white-house

www.openminds.tv/ufo-enthusiast-obamas-newest-advisor/25437 UFO enthusiast is Obama’s newest advisorPosted by: Alejandro Rojas December 12, 2013 Johh Podesta was Bill Clinton’s chief of staff and aided in Obama’s transition into the White House in 2008. He is also known to be a sci-fi enthusiast, and has been involved with efforts to get the government to disclose all it knows about the UFO phenomenon. His UFO interests have made headlines this week after a story on the subject was posted by Huffington Post reporter Lee Speigel. Podesta served on Clinton’s staff from 1993 until Clinton left office. His final position was as Clinton’s Chief of Staff. He has remained influential in politics through a liberal think tank that he founded called the Center for American Progress. It has always been known that Podesta is a big sci-fi buff. He made headlines during his tenure in the White House when he had an X-files themed birthday party. He was especially keen on that TV series. For a man at his level to have an interest in sci-fi is not that unusual. However, the depth of his interest in UFOs was revealed when he spoke at a press conference at the National Press Club asking the government to release its secret files on UFOs so that scientists can determine the nature of the phenomena. In 2002 the Coalition for the Freedom of Information headed by journalist Leslie Kean, along with the Sci-Fi channel (now SyFy), held a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. to address the issue of secrecy regarding the subject of UFOs. At that meeting Podesta stated, “It is time for the government to declassify records that are more than 25 years old, and to provide scientists with data that will assist in determining the real nature of this phenomenon.” He made this comment in front of several major media representatives in attendance. Freedom of information was a major concern for the Clinton administration. In fact, Podesta was in charge of a project to declassify millions of government documents. Did Podesta not find the UFO documents he was looking for in those stacks of declassified files? We do know that Podesta was not alone in the Clinton White House when it came to searching for the truth behind the UFO mystery. The video can be seen below. voiceofrussia.com/news/2013_12_15/Will-Obamas-new-advisor-persuade-him-to-release-UFO-files-3004/ 15 December 2013 Will Obama's new advisor persuade him to release UFO files?News of John Podesta's appointment as counselor to US President Barack Obama has triggered speculation that some of the top secret UFO files may be released soon. Podesta, 64, was a White House chief of staff under Bill Clinton and has been Obama's outside advisor since the 2008 presidential election. He also advised former Secretary-of-State Hillary Clinton during her last year in office. Podesta is the founder and chair of the Center for Equitable Growth Center think-tank created this fall and chair of the Center for American Progress he founded a decade ago. He will now formally join the White House inner circle for a year as Obama struggles to salvage his unexpectedly difficult second term. Apart from climate change and executive issues, Podesta will also handle Obama's troubled healthcare program. There is one further fact you might not know about him. Podesta repeatedly urged the US government to declassify at least some 25 year old UFO files which could give scientists a clue as to the real nature of a few unexplained airborne signtings. In 2010, he wrote a foreword to Leslie Kean's "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record". "I'm skeptical about many things, including the notion that government always knows best, and that the people can't be trusted with the truth. The time to pull the curtain back on this subject is long overdue. Presenting the facts, the book includes statements from only the most credible sources, those in a position to know, about a fascinating phenomenon, the nature of which is yet to be determined," Podesta wrote. Obama, whose approval rating fell 5% in October to below 50%, may well consider releasing UFO files as a nice way to propp up his sagging popularity. www.unknowncountry.com/news/podesta-reveal-truth-about-alien-life Podesta to Reveal Truth about Alien LifeMonday, December 16, 2013 The truth is out there, and it seems that the man who is intent on revealing it has returned to the White House staff. Former chief of staff in the Clinton administration, John Podesta, has recently been appointed as President Obama's newest advisor, though his advice may prompt some rather interesting debates between himself and the President. The return of Mr. Podesta, a major player in appears to be a smart move which will add intellectual weight to the Obama personnel, without displacing any existing staff, but Time Magazine recently listed five things that Podesta and Obama haven’t previously agreed on: *Drone Secrecy *NSA Spying *Afghanistan *The American Political System *UFOs It is the last item which is likely to keep the public's gaze fixed on Podesta, as his outspoken views on the subject of extra-terrestrials make him something of a wildcard on the White House staff. Podesta's stance on the subject of UFOs and alien life has become well-known; he has continually pressed the U.S. government to release any information they currently hold on the subject in order "provide scientists with data that will assist in determining the real nature of this phenomenon." Back in 2002, Podesta spoke at a news conference held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., where he called upon the U.S. government "to declassify [UFO] records that are more than 25 years old." He has also written the foreword for a book entitled “UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go On the Record” by investigative journalist Leslie Kean, which was released on August 10th 2010. Podesta's interest in the potential existence of alien life forms has not waned, and he pronounces himself to be still "curious." “As someone interested in the questions of UFOs, I think I have always understood the difference between fact and fiction. I guess you could call me a curious skeptic,” he said. Now that Podesta has been returned to a powerful position on the Presidential staff, one can only assume that he will use this added authority to help further his aims, and attempt to persuade President Obama to give this subject the credence that Podesta thinks it deserves. His recent Twitter response to journalist, Dave Weigel, says it all: "The truth is out there, Dave". U.S. citizens will be watching this space with interest, and we can be sure that flies buzzing around in the Oval Office will soon be privy to some extremely interesting conversations... latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2010/07/john-podesta-writes-probing-foreword-for-new-ufo-book.html John Podesta writes probing foreword for new book on UFOsJimmy Orr July 28, 2010 He’s not saying he was abducted by a UFO and probed or anything, but former President Clinton’s chief of staff John Podesta is lending his name to a new book on UFOs. Podesta has written the foreword for “UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go On the Record” by investigative journalist Leslie Kean, which will be released Aug. 10. This isn’t that shocking, as Podesta has been on the record before as an advocate for the Pentagon to release classified government papers on UFO investigations. "It is time for the government to declassify records that are more than 25 years old and to.... ...provide scientists with data that will assist in determining the real nature of this phenomenon," he said back in 2002. Now, eight years later, Podesta is still -- as he puts it -- "curious." “As someone interested in the questions of UFOs, I think I have always understood the difference between fact and fiction. I guess you could call me a curious skeptic,” he's reported to write. UFO enthusiasts say the inclusion of Podesta gives the book weight. “Its credibility begins on the first page with John Podesta and continues with case studies of extraordinary quality to the very end,” writes John L. Petersen, the founder and president of the Arlington Institute (a think tank for futurists). We prefer UFO tales like the first episode of "South Park." in which Eric Cartman, a skeptic of alien beings, finds out for himself that he’s been wrong on the topic. Sadly, this book seems to be the antithesis of that masterpiece. But then again, Podesta probably wouldn’t have lent his name to that production. As no videos are available for Kean's new book, we'll go the "South Park" route. www.businessinsider.com/john-podesta-is-really-into-ufos-2015-1 The Man Who Might Lead Hillary Clinton's Campaign Is Really Into UFOs by Colin Campbell Jan. 15, 2015, Hillary Clinton's expected campaign chairman has an eclectic record that includes UFO advocacy and having to apologize for comparing Republicans to killer cultists. John Podesta, a senior White House aide, will leave his government job in February for Clinton's campaign, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday. "The precise role Mr. Podesta would play in a Clinton campaign is unclear. People familiar with discussions said he likely would be campaign chairman, should she decide to run," The Journal reported. Despite the ambiguity, it is clear from additional reports that Podesta is expected to at least hold a "senior title" in Clinton's nascent presidential campaign. And from Podesta's record, it's also clear he will give Republicans at least a small amount of ammunition to criticize Clinton. With that in mind, Business Insider gathered some of the highlights from Podesta's past. (Podesta's office told Business Insider he was out of the country and would be unable to comment for this story.) www.neonnettle.com/news/1380-advocate-for-ufo-disclosure-to-lead-hillary-clinton-election-campaign- Advocate For UFO Disclosure To Lead Hillary Clinton Election Campaign John Podesta has urged the US to disclose UFO filesBy: Steve Thresher on 19th January 2015 John Podesta is an advocate for freedom of information, he has stated that it is time that the book is opened and full disclosure be given on everything, including the existence of Aliens. He has also had to issue an apology for calling Republicans “Killer Cultists”… He is a senior White House aid at the moment, The Wall Street Journal reported that it he may resign and join Hillary Clinton’s election campaign. The Journal reported, "The precise role Mr. Podesta would play in a Clinton campaign is unclear. People familiar with discussions said he likely would be campaign chairman, should she decide to run." Given his social and political leaning he would be an interesting asset for Clinton. In 2013 he compared congressional republicans the Jonestown cultists who left more than 900 people dead and committed mass suicide in 1978. "They need to focus on executive action given that they are facing a second term against a cult worthy of Jonestown in charge of one of the houses of Congress." Podesta said of the president's administration in an interview. Naturally the Republicans were very, very angry and Podesta eventually apologized on Twitter. The most interesting aspect of Podesta is his belief that the governments knowledge of extraterrestrial’s should be released to the public, if they have any proof. In 2002 he spoke at a press conference asking the US government to declassify any UFO records. He also wrote the foreword to the 2010 book "UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record." In the book he wrote, "As someone interested in the question of UFOs, I think I have always understood the difference between fact and fiction. I guess you could call me a curious skeptic. But I'm skeptical about many things, including the notion that government always knows best." The time to pull the curtain back on this subject is long overdue." Perhaps with Podesta in a position of power we may not need Steve Bassett's petition asking for disclosure, it may just come naturally after all. devoid.blogs.heraldtribune.com/15096/went-down-to-the-crossroads/ Went down to the crossroadsBy Billy Cox, Herald-Tribune Monday, January 19, 2015 De Void would love to crawl inside John Podesta’s head right now re the UFO conundrum. It’s one thing to talk the talk about transparency when you’re on the outside looking in, as President Clinton’s former chief of staff was when he publicly called for a government re-investigation of UFOs in 2002. But last week’s announcement that he’s leaving the Obama White House to join Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign is yet another example that walking the walk is another creature altogether. "Going back and looking at and declassifying whatever (UFO) government documents exist is a smart thing to do.” -- John Podesta to the New York Times, 2013/CREDIT: opinion.financialpost.com There are no career Beltway pols as outspoken on The Great Taboo as Podesta; clearly, the founder of the Center for American Progress is smart enough to be deeply conflicted on this issue — he offered a transparency blurb to the New York Times as recently as 2013. If the timing for him to use his influence to shape an overdue adult discussion isn’t right, the question now is pretty obvious: When? At what point do you spend your political capital? Two years from now, the Oval Office could well be lost to his party for another eight years. If that happens, Podesta can lobby for transparency on every Sunday morning talk show in America and nobody will listen. But nobody would bother to book him in the first place. But you don’t always get to pick and choose your moments, and last Thursday, we got our first indication that events over the next election cycle could force his hand. It came out of left field, in a Business Insider website piece titled “The Man Who Might Lead Hillary Clinton’s Campaign Is Really Into UFOs.” Business International, entering its sixth year as a news aggregator, isn’t a fringe site. Its work is referenced by the likes of The New York Times, which reported last year that BI’s traffic was comparable to The Wall Street Journal. BI drew a bead on Podesta’s incendiary anti-Republican rhetoric, which will obviously be linked to the Hillary brand as the next campaign plays out. Specifically, it focused on Podesta’s 2013 remarks that Team Obama needs “to focus on executive action given that they are facing a second term against a cult worthy of Jonestown in charge of one of the houses of Congress.” Some GOP leaders called for Podesta’s resignation as Obama’s senior advisor, and Podesta was forced to apologize. Louisiana’s Steve Scalise, now the No. 3 man in House, went ballistic over the the analogy and roared: “The American people will not stand by and allow the Obama White House to destroy the checks and balances defined in the Constitution that are critical to a working democracy, and neither will Congress!” Blood-feud memory has no expiration date. Scalise might now add: And do the American people want a SECOND president being advised by a believer in space aliens? The sludge coming out of Washington has been toxic for some time now, and with prospects for another Clinton-Bush rematch gathering on the horizon, the terrain between now and November 2016 is on target to become the costliest and most disgraceful tract of scorched earth in the history of mankind. No scrap of potential leverage will be off limits; no connection, however tangential or irrelevant, will be overlooked. Last week, Business Insider’s piece on Podesta reminded the Beltway about a hunk of red meat that spin doctors can easily transform into a character flaw. Will Republicans take the bait? If so, will Podesta allow himself to be caught flat-footed, the way a floundering Dennis Kucinich was in 2007? Right now, the ball is in Podesta's court. But for how long? devoid.blogs.heraldtribune.com/15096/went-down-to-the-crossroads/

He added the hashtag “#thetruthisoutthere,” in a reference to the long-running television show “The X-Files.” Podesta is leaving the White House on Friday after one year helping to oversee climate change and energy policy, among other issues, and is seen as a likely choice to lead Hillary Clinton’s expected presidential campaign. He formerly worked as chief of staff to President Bill Clinton before starting the liberal Center for American Progress think tank. The humorous tweet about his time in office came in a list of his top 10 moments over the last year, including the landmark joint agreement between U.S. and China to reduce carbon emissions and an effort to protect people’s privacy amid the rise of “big data” in the digital age. “It's been a tremendous privilege to serve a great President and the country for this last year,” he tweeted. Podesta's UFO Tweet Was No Joke by Bryce Zabel 2/15/15
One Tweet may have slipped under the radar this week but it may turn out to be vastly more important than anything else rocking our world — from the fading star of bob Williams, to the growing threat of ISIS, or even the cultural shock of the 50 Shades of Grey movie. The Tweet came from outgoing senior Obama adviser John Podesta. Here it is:If you'll visit @podesta44 on Twitter, you'll see that John Podesta put this on a list with his favorite moments and biggest regrets from his White House stint over the past year that ended on Friday. That's right — on Podesta's Top Ten list — the number one position goes to "Finally, my biggest failure of 2014: Once again not securing the #disclosure of the UFO files."
John Podesta is a serious Washington power-player. He spent four years as President Bill Clinton's Chief of Staff. He is likely leaving the Obama Administration to take a top policy position with the Hilary Clinton presidential campaign. He's been a counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee and worked for the Center for American Progress. He's powerfully committed to protecting openness in government.
It is possible, as some skeptical Washington reporters tried to lamely spin it, to think that somehow this was a wink-wink joke that Podesta was putting over on everyone. Hey, UFOs are ridiculous, right? He couldn't be serious!
Except that John Podesta is very sober in his assessment when it comes to the topic of UFOs. He believes that there are classified files that need to be released on the topic. He's on the record as holding this opinion and everyone who knows him knows this. Including Barack, Bill and Hilary, and hundreds of powerful senators, congressmen and cabinet members.
Now they also know, as we do, that his chief regret from the last year of his executive service is being unable to provide the American people the truth about UFOs.

devoid.blogs.heraldtribune.com/15188/twick-or-tweet/Twick or Tweet!By Billy Cox, Herald-Tribune / Monday, February 16, 2015 A single Tweet? Really? That’s it?By now, everybody’s read John Podesta’s little Friday afternoon firecracker, where he took less than 140 characters to announce his biggest regret in leaving the Obama White house was a failure to bring transparency to America’s UFO files. Brevity being the soul of wit and all that, one naturally assumes there was a little sarcasm or self-deprecation at play here, despite the former Clinton White House chief of staff’s multiple (and correct) assertions that UFOs are actually pretty serious stuff. After all, if you look at his statements on UFOs over the years, they really don’t amount to much more than an anthology of sound bites. Consequently, the media responded with equal proportion, duly noting Podesta’s Tweet with minimal comment, the way one might take stock of any harmless celebrity idiosyncrasy, like Jay Leno's fleet cars or XYZ's Coconut Monkeys of Polynesia collection. One might even be tempted to give Podesta props for putting it out there again, considering how he wasn't obliged to say anything at all. But after reading Sunday’s New York Times profile, Friday’s Twitter breadcrumbs come off as quite puzzling. Associates describe Podesta as a competitive, workaholic straight-shooter who enjoys a good scrap. “He’s not afraid to use power, and ruthlessly if necessary,” said veteran Dem operative Paul Begalia. “I think he’s as good a political guy as I’ve ever seen.” It's true -- no $$$ to study UFOs, but high-rollers will pay astronomers to argue risk analysis of contacting ET through radiowaves/CREDIT: psychoseanders.wordpress.com Great. So that begs the question: What, exactly, specifically, if anything, did Podesta do over the last two years to warrant that surprise Tweet last weekend? Can’t blame the media for being so spare on this one — he gave us nothing to work with, no hint that he’d used that famous competitive streak to butt heads with whatever behind-the-scenes UFO classification obstacles he might have encountered. Assuming he made an effort. So what gives? Now, juxtapose Podesta’s little nugget against what passed for news (again) last week at the convention of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in San Jose, Calif. The SETI people were at it again, weighing the risks of sending formal collaborative radio messages to their theoretical kindred spirits in radio astronomy in distant worlds. Godawmighty, how many times must we endure this trifling academic hand-wringing over the perils of provoking some ET Pizarro or Cortez from Planet Zyrtek? Our radio signals have been alerting The Other to our presence for almost a century now, yet suddenly we're seeing luminaries like billionaire Elon Musk and planet detective Geoff Marcy circulating petitions calling for a ban on sending messages into space? Really? Check this out -- astrophysicist David Brin actually said this to the Associated Press: “I can’t bring myself to wager my grandchildren’s destiny on unreliable assumptions” about contacting nice space aliens. Oh for cryin' out loud. Wouldn’t you think, given this level of obstreperous angst, and with the potential for ET enemies (5,000 extrasolar planets either logged or awaiting confirmation) increasing by the month, it would be totally irresponsible for these guardians of the realm not to exhaust each and every line of scientific inquiry on the gathering threat? Well, um, no. Here’s the key sentence in the AP report from San Jose: “... what scientists are talking about is a coordinated and sustained million-dollar-a-year effort with approval from some kind of science or international body and a message that people agree on" [emphasis: De Void]. Naah, UFOs don’t rate that kind of funding, man. At least not unless somebody of, say, John Podesta’s heft steps up, quits flirting around the elephant in the room, and makes the case. But that’s not likely, given his apparent commitment to Hillary’s 2016 presidential campaign. Until that day comes, looks like we’re doomed to endure endless SETI seminars on how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. At least we got a Tweet. And we're grateful for that. devoid.blogs.heraldtribune.com/15188/twick-or-tweet/

www.huffingtonpost.com/leslie-kean/john-podesta-pulling-back_b_6717872.htmlJohn Podesta: Pulling Back the Curtain on UFOsby Leslie Kean / Co-authored with Ralph Blumenthal Posted: 02/20/2015 It was the tweet heard round the worlds. On John Podesta's last day at the White House on February 13th, the longtime Presidential counselor, who is likely to chair a 2016 Hillary Clinton campaign, dashed off a confession that lit the blogosphere with thousands of retweets and comments: "Finally, my biggest failure of 2014: Once again not securing the #disclosure of the UFO files." Along with the media, which couldn't resist a spoof by late-night comedian Jimmy Fallon, conspiracy theorists are having a field day. Taking Podesta's barb as confirmation of fantastic coverups by operatives with knowledge of extraterrestrials and twisted political agendas, they imagine Podesta himself holds devastating secrets. Some are claiming with bravado that their own activism is what prompted his recent lighthearted remark. The facts hardly bear that out. Actually, as surprising as the tweet was, Podesta's position on the controversial issue was not exactly news. A staunch proponent of open government, he has previously called for the release of any government files on unidentified flying objects, or more broadly, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), that merit such action under existing law. As Chief of Staff for President Bill Clinton, Podesta pressed for Executive Order 12958 which declassified broad categories of information formerly withheld on the grounds of national security. In 2002, Podesta began publicly supporting what became a landmark Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed by the Coalition for Freedom of Information, an independent advocacy group. NASA had been stonewalling and refusing to release its records concerning a significant 1965 UFO incident in Kecksburg, PA. Many witnesses described seeing a fireball in the evening sky, followed by a controlled landing and the systematic military recovery of a spacecraft-like object, rushed away on the back of a flatbed truck. As reported by local radio and newspapers, U.S. military personnel cordoned off the area, investigated the site, and left without ever providing a full report of the incident other than to dismiss it as a meteor. I don’t think it’s mankind who can’t handle it but perhaps governments and religions can’t handle people knowing the truth. The Vatican and science community brought together great minds to discuss how they should break the news whenever they agreed to divulge and announce it. If one looks in the pages of the Bible there lies Genesis 6:4, they might say the news was announced long ago. “The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them; the same were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown.” Time is running out and more and more discoveries in space reveal the possibility of life in universe. Exoplanets and water found on other planets bring us closer to the reality that we are not alone. Mankind dealt with the news the Earth wasn’t flat and the Earth revolved around the sun with the same tactics. Powerful people tried to suppress the truth from the population but it didn’t stop the Truth from dripping out. Dirk, editor and chief of UFO digest can smile and pat himself on the back for his years of getting the news out to the in the dark public. I want to say thanks so much UFO digest. The news won’t come as a shock to UFO Digest readers. We can handle it. CONTINUE READING: ufodigest.com/article/we-can-handle-it-0302

www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/04/08/the-long-strange-history-of-john-podestas-space-alien-obsession/ The long, strange history of John Podesta’s space alien obsessionBy Philip Bump / www.washingtonpost.com/people/philip-bump April 8, 2016 Alien abduction warning signs are posted in the "alien vault" booth during the Black Hat USA 2015 cybersecurity conference in Las Vegas. (Steve Marcus/Reuters) You know how sometimes you stake out a controversial or weird position solely for effect, using it to troll people you know, and then over time you sort of convince yourself that your position is right? For example, one time I was hanging out with friends and I decided that I was going to tell everyone I hated Stanford. There was no reason for it; it just seemed funny to me. But then I just ... started sort of hating Stanford and its fancy campus and its "oh, we're Ivy League but not weird and old and also no snow" thing. By the time I ended up actually moving to California, I legitimately thought Stanford was pretty lame. A tree mascot? Get over yourselves. So every time there's a news article about where Hillary Clinton adviser (and former Bill Clinton chief of staff) John Podesta talks about how President Hillary Clinton would release classified information about UFOs -- as he did again on Thursday -- I'm led to wonder. Is he just taking the joke too far? Has he committed so completely to the bit that now he just sort of answers the questions about space aliens without blinking? Or ... does he think that the government has information about visits from outer space that should be shared more widely? A little history is in order. During the 1990s, there was an effort by Laurance Rockefeller (of the Rockefeller Rockefellers) to encourage the United States government to release any classified information it had about extraterrestrials, alien spacecraft and UFOs. The effort, referred to as the Rockefeller Initiative by UFO truthers, included meetings between Rockefeller and senior Clinton administration staff. In August of 1995, the Clintons stayed at Rockefeller's ranch in Wyoming, and Hillary was photographed with him while holding a book titled, "Are We Alone? Philosophical Implications of the Discovery of Extraterrestrial Life." (A large number of documents pertaining to Rockefeller's advocacy on this issue were released under the Freedom of Information Act several years ago.) The subject was not an uncommon one for the White House at the time. That Christmas, Bill Clinton gave a speech in Belfast, in which he described letters he'd gotten from schoolchildren. He thanked a 13-year-old named Ryan for his letter and did his best to answer Ryan's question. "No," Clinton said, "as far as I know, an alien spacecraft did not crash in Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947. And Ryan, if the United States Air Force did recover alien bodies, they didn't tell me about it, either, and I want to know." Podesta started as deputy chief of staff for Clinton in 1997 and stayed with the president until the inauguration of George W. Bush. He himself was apparently somewhat obsessed with aliens. In 1998, The Post quoted Press Secretary Mike McCurry. "John can get totally maniacal and phobic on certain subjects," McCurry said. "He's been known to pick up the phone to call the Air Force and ask them what's going on in Area 51." After Clinton left the White House, Podesta's advocacy continued. In 2002, he spoke at the National Press Club to encourage the government to release whatever information it had about investigations into unidentified flying objects. www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/10/Podesta-untold-story-wikileaks-UFO-questions-xfiles The Untold Story of How John Podesta Answered My Question About UFOs "The Truth is out there."AJ Vicens / www.motherjones.com/authors/aj-vicensOct. 26, 2016 On April 2, 2015, I sent an email to Hillary Clinton's campaign spokesman, Nick Merill, asking for comment about UFOs, specifically about the idea that a Clinton presidency would be a boon to those in the UFO community. He replied that Clinton's "non-campaign" (this was 10 days before the campaign officially launched) had "a strict policy of not commenting on extraterrestrial activity. BUT the Truth Is Out There." I found the response funny—anybody with even a vague knowledge of The X-Files would immediately recognize the line—and I quoted it in my story, "ETs for Hillary: Why UFO Activists Are Excited About Another Clinton Presidency," which laid out why a Hillary Clinton presidency might be good news for those committed to finding out what's going on with extraterrestrials' interaction with the planet Earth. This all came back up earlier this week in one of WikiLeaks' daily releases of John Podesta's stolen emails. WikiLeaks published the exchange, in which Merrill passed my query to Clinton campaign chairman Podesta. "You can't make this stuff up," Merrill wrote. He then asked if Podesta would prefer that Merrill politely decline to comment, "or say that our non-campaign has a strict policy of not commenting on extraterrestrial activity?" Podesta, to his everlasting credit, threw me a bone. "Go with the latter but add the truth is out there," he wrote. I included his response at the end of my story. As a self-described "curious skeptic," Podesta has openly called for greater government transparency on UFO-related matters. In his forward to UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record, a 2011 book by journalist Leslie Kean, he wrote, "It's time to find out what the truth really is that's out there. The American people—and people around the world—want to know, and they can handle the truth." This may be only the beginning of my appearances in Podesta's email. I pestered him and the Clinton campaign for answers related to a profile I wrote about Stephen Bassett, America's only registered lobbyist on UFO and extraterrestrial issues, with a mission to force the US government to come clean about human interactions with extraterrestrials. Key to Bassett's plan is getting Clinton to address why she and her husband engaged with the late Laurance Rockefeller over the course of several years in the mid-1990s, as the philanthropist worked hard to force the US government to disclose "The Truth" about extraterrestrials. At the time, John Podesta was a senior White House staffer and likely had a front-row seat to any Rockefeller-Clinton interaction that might have occurred. Neither Podesta nor the Clinton campaign responded to questions for that story. But both Podesta and Clinton have spoken seriously about UFOs and extraterrestrials at several points during her campaign. In March, Clinton told Jimmy Kimmel that if elected president, she'd double down on her husband's efforts to ferret out the truth about UFOs. That interview was four months after a previous Clinton appearance on Kimmel's show, where she wished the UFO issue had come up, but it didn't, according to a separate Podesta email. "He didn't end up asking her about UFOs!" a campaign communications person emailed Podesta after the interview. "She was very disappointed. She practiced UAPs for 5 minutes beforehand." (UAP stands for "unidentified aerial phenomena," which is the term used by the more scientific wing of UFO buffs and researchers.) Clearly Clinton was ready and willing to talk about UFOs in a serious way. She also told a New Hampshire reporter in December 2015 that she thinks "we may have been (visited already). We don't know for sure." She acknowledged that Podesta had made her pledge to get the information out as president.
